After moving to South Carolina, I wasn't working out as consistently and had lost quite a bit of strength and muscle. Pilates has helped me build that muscle back, and I feel stronger, healthier, and more confident. Ikelle, Noelle, Aly, and Lindsey are all wonderful instructors. They each bring something special to their classes, but Ikelle has been especially instrumental in my progress. She is encouraging, knowledgeable, and has a way of challenging me while making every class feel positive and achievable. I'm so grateful to have found this studio!

These have been a combination of group class, duets, and private sessions. Why? Because he's probably one of the best at what he does. He's spent years as an instructor and truly understands how the body works. My sessions have been geared toward what is uniquely happening in this body - not just teaching to a class. What that means is that I am challenged in a way that is supportive and not defeating. He's also helped me with rehab after being kicked by horse and spending 6 months in a cast. In case you're wondering - Yes, you can do pilates in a cast! It kept me active and encouraged mobility. Highly, highly recommend seeing him - I've never felt stronger!

I often do yoga exercises, but wanted to really challenge my core strength. The Advanced Pilates "fire" group class I took did just that. I let the instructor know before class that I endure a lot of pain from scoliosis and how certain exercises cause neck pain, and she provided safe and effective moves that left me feeling rejuvenated and without any pain. I've never felt that good after a chiropractic adjustment! I will definitely be going back.

Lucky for me, the other studio didn't call me back until after I booked 3 privates at Fusion. After my first session, I signed up for 2 more, for a total of 5 privates while I was in town. I've had a lot of private training and private pilates classes, and Amy is one of the best. Amy is compassionate, knowledgeable and a true teacher. She was mindful of my issues and gave me so many take-aways for me to use on my own. She also used some amazing heated props that helped loosen muscles and bring awareness to specific areas. My husband teased me that I would move to Asheville to continue working with Amy. Everyone should have this kind of training.

Each instructor has their own style and approach to Pilates that makes being a client fun and exciting. From restorative, release classes to fast moving high intensity classes they offer a bit of everything. Interspersed with their wide array of group classes, I'm able to book private sessions where the instructors base the entire hour around my body and needs. Nicole, the studio founder, has an unparalleled knowledge base. Her expert eye noticed and directed me to understand my hypermobility. I never leave a workout with her feeling discouraged. This has truly changed my life and approach to fitness. Dr Erin Jarrett has changed the way my body moves and rests by noticing patterns, weakness, compensation, tightness, and releasing areas that need it. I have worked with so many PTs. None even remotely rival Erin's ability or intelligence about physicality and how to work with someone's body where they are. Jennah's incredible repertoire of anatomical knowledge and cues speak to my need to visualize exactly what I am doing and why. Brooke's dance background and understanding of movement help me achieve goals in a way I didn't know that I could. Parker pairs her incredible knowledge, care, and motivation in the most balanced way to provide a nurturing and challenging workout. Jacqueline's knowledge of hypermobility and dysautonomia both shock and awe in how they combine to deliver a workout that supports the compensations my body makes. Miranda always looks for a way to make movement accessible and creative. I enjoy her use of props and willingness to try new things. Amanda's classical approach allows me to measure my progress with each class in a fun and charismatic environment. I cannot say enough about how Beyond Pilates has changed my outlook about fitness, wellness, and my ability to push myself in the most positive way within both.

So, if I was to continue walking straight and feeling good about myself, I had to commit to something, but what? Luckily I worked with a woman a few years older than I who suggested I meet with Nicole of Beyond Pilates of Boone. I did, I committed and I'm stronger now than I was in my 20's and my back pain is gone. I gained strength, stability, flexibility, balance, and stamina and I continue to improve and learn. Nicole and Parker are educated in human anatomy and weave that knowledge into the training so that I now have a better understanding of my body and my issues. Each session you are asked what issues you're dealing with so your duet or private session is tailored to your needs. The equipment is always set according to your size and ability, and Nicole and Parker are always, always watching to make those slight adjustments in your position so you are performing the routine correctly (i.e. you don't hurt yourself!) I love every session and feel I am aging more gracefully. And it doesn't hurt that I look better too! It doesn't matter your age, your shape, your gender. All will be welcomed and will benefit from the tailored instruction and the kindness and warmth generated by the folks of Beyond Pilates of Boone.
