Cool dining spot, service was friendly and attentive, and the appetizers were on point. We had the karaage, fried kumara, edamame, and teriyaki beef. All of these were fresh tasting and flavorful. However the sushi rolls were disappointing. The rice was mushy and the sauces were overpowering. I was really liking Piku until we got our sushi rolls and entrees. I had the beef cheek entree and my wife ordered the tempura entree. The beef check was very tender but the sauce or braising liquid was too strong. The tempura batter was too thick, not light and crispy like Japanese tempura is. Had it not been for these issues with our sushi rolls and entrees we would gladly have given a 5 star rating. read more

Holy moly orange kumara wedges with an incredible kimchee mayo and shichimi salt. I could eat these all day long. So happy their little food trailer showed up while we chilled at the Abbey Estate winery. read more

Ordered the yakatori pork and yakatori prawns for lunch, efficient service but the flavors were bland and the pork very mushy. Prawn skewer dish looked like prepared packet sourced. read more

Japanese inspired menu with a beautiful view of the vineyards, what more could you ask for on a sunny Hawkes Bay day? Great menu for sharing. We totally loved the Karaage chicken, the pork belly steamed buns (fresh flavours and a hit of chilli) and the kunara fries. The tempura prawns were good too. Local wines from this vineyard are merlot and syrah. This is the kind of place you'll come back to again and again. read more
