I love Turkish food. Especially homemade falafel, hummus, Iskender Chicken and Lamb, tabbouleh and Turkish bread. Kilim is a family owned restaurant in Napier, and does Turkish food well - very authentic and tasty. And yes, their falafel comes highly recommend! We dined here once (and also got takeaway on a separate occasion) and it was a lovely night. The staff were welcoming and friendly and our meals arrived promptly. They do BYO = double bonus, plus NO CORKAGE = triple bonus!!! We loved their Iskender Meal with Chicken, which also comes with a generous amount of rice, hummus, beetroot dip, mixed salad, tabbouleh and Turkish bread, and also the Salad Bowl with Falafels with green salad leaves, hummus, beetroot dip, tabbouleh, sweet chilli and Turkish bread. Food was excellent, but service was horrendous. We got a waitress that didn't speak a word of English and I guess that if you simply point at what you want on the menu she understands, but the moment you change something it gets tricky. My friend is allergic to dairy and asked to replace a yogourt-based food with rice. She must have repeated "rice" about 3 times but half way through our meal the waitress showed up with fries. I had to point to my rice in order to show her what we wanted. She offered no apologies and only returned with the rice after we both had finished our meal. Again, no apologies. It's such a shame, since the food is excellent. read more

Had a very pleasant dinner here. The service was excellent and friendly. It is not the smartest place in town but clean and bright. Food was Turkish style similar to what I have had in Turkey and elsewhere. No alcohol licence so bring your own they don't mind. Highly recommended. read more

Love the food and staff, good value for money!! Being able to take your own wine makes this restaurant really affordable!

This is (in my opinion) the best Turkish place in Napier. I get a kebab here at least once a week as a takeaway. They are so fast I generally walk in and out within 3 mins. The meat to salad ratio is spot on and the sauces are great. I can't comment on the dine-in menu as I never eat here but it looks good and the place is always busy. read more
