Skip the Food Lion and all the other sub-par chains and stick with Harris Teeter for great food. It's unfortunate that this is the case, but it is what it is. the atmosphere in Harris Teeter is calm and pleasant. I can't stand shopping at any of the other grocery stores in the area because they are so loud and bright, and it's all just too much for me. It feels fancy in here, and that's because it kind of is! Harris Teeter selection is fantastic. I usually found what I wanted. This ranged from organic potatoes to curry sauce, Tofurky deli slices and craft beer. Their beer selection is small, but there is a nice little collection of options. You can find local brews here too, and I found that to be very very exciting! The wine selection is also extensive and delicious. There is an emphasis on Carolina wines here, and I think that is really important. As for people thinking Harris Teeter is expensive? Well, some products ARE. However, there are sales and great coupons to take advantage of. When you compare the prices here to the prices in other areas, Harris Teeter seems like a bargain basement. Then again, Wilson is a small town with a low-average income. If you are looking for something special, definitely come here. Don't come here expecting a Safeway/Giant type of experience. This one level lower, like Food Lion. That isn't a bad thing, but the selections are not the same as those stores and I appreciate that. Sometimes, you don't need all that. The staff has been friendly and helpful to me. Always courteous. The patrons too! I have a blast every time I come to this location it's as if I'm a kid in a candy store. I come here to get stuff for friends and colleagues. While in Wilson for the Whirligig Festival I decided to check out this location and it was a totally different experience - and in a good way! First of all, the store wasn't very crowded. Maybe everyone was at the festival where Lidl had quite a presence with a little village type setup. Smart cookies (employees) who were giving out free samples and even free juice and grilled cheese off their food truck! The store itself is very clean, well stock and organized, and the employees are very nice and helpful when needed. I was able to get a real good look at everything and must say, the prices are terrific! I'm an avid Aldi shopper in Durham and now look forward to Lidl building their store not far from me. I bought a number of items that are on my shopping list that we use regularly and so far everything I've tried I like! The wrapped cheese slices are very good as is the no antibiotic ham lunch meat. I love the decaf kcup Donut style coffee. Just wish it came in boxes bigger than twelve portions. The lite mayo tastes as good as Hellman's and the low low price is amazing. Suffice to say if you want to save money and not sacrifice quality this is a great place to shop. Aldi, you've got some competition on your hands for sure!
