This was my first venture out alone since breaking my ankle and she went as far as to put my knee scooter in a safe place while I shopped and when I got done she brought the scooter out to my car and drove the electric rider back into the store. She went above and beyond and it made such a difference for my experience out to Food Lion.

Today, I presented a coupon for "$5 off $65 or more" and was informed that it had expired two days ago. I explained that I shop here every week and asked if they would be kind enough to honor this coupon? The manager, Sam, simply shook her head at me and walked away. Now, I understand that I didn't realize the coupon was expired and if it had been more than a few days old I wouldn't care...but as a customer who spends $100+ in this store every week, who knows all of the cashiers by name, who knows that they know my face and see me every other day in this store because it is the only store within 20 miles, I expected a little more courtesy. This store seriously needs customer service training and management skills training. I used to be a cashier at a grocery store and things like not greeting your patrons, gossiping with your friend or colleague while you are ringing someone up, and having only two registers open with the line backing up and not calling for extra hands in simply not acceptable. Just another example of the Town of Hertford's motto: "Why even try to be good or impressive when your the only option?"

They have the best steaks, chicken, pork chops, and sausages around always fresh and packed with flavor. One of the things I love most is that they'll cut steaks, luncheon meat, and ham exactly to your liking. making sure you get just what you want. Their prices are a great value for the quality you're getting, and the selection is so much better than anywhere else I've shopped. Besides the incredible meat choices, Layden's also offers some grocery staples, homemade candy, sodas, and even smoked whole ham legs perfect for anyone who enjoys a little something extra. Every time I visit North Carolina, I make it a point to stop by Layden's and stock up on as much meat as I can fit in my freezer even if it means driving six to eight hours drive! It's always worth the trip and the money. And let me tell you, the chicken drumsticks are so big, I can only eat one at a time! If you're a fan of fresh, flavorful meats and love discovering specialty grocery items, Layden's Supermarket is absolutely the place to go. The place is so clean and the staff and employees are so friendly and welcoming. Thank you so much from us WV.
