To be fair, still prefer the booze, but health first. We got a package where we had two hours of bowling and a bit of karaoke. We got caesar salad, pigs in a blanket, nachos, and chicken tenders. All was good except the nachos. Skip it. After a game of bowling, some of us stayed and did some karaoke. Personally think this is a good place to bowl, sing, and do other things like pingpong and pool, but the location is not ideal. Port authority gets really sketchy after dark. Would not go out of my way seeking this place out.

We were able to bring our own cake last minute for an employee who was leaving that week. Shoes are self served. It took us a bit to get the computer set up. Packages are set by time so we just would have liked to have time to see the final score before the scoreboard cleared. Could have had a better selection of lighter balls. Great time for the team.

Luckily we arrived early, but it was a bit upsetting that they couldn't provide an estimate of how long the wait might be, only a list of how long some other groups have currently waited, ranging up to 3 hours, which is a long time to spend wandering around Times Square waiting for a text. I also had some arcade credit from another Groupon, which we used to keep ourselves entertained for about 45 minutes during our wait. We were so happy when we finally got the text that it was our turn to bowl. It was a bit cramped at our area, not having quite enough space for everyone to sit comfortably or easily get from the seats to the bowling area without needing others to shift around.

There was a toss salad and chips/dips available. Overall I had fun and would come with friends.

Hidden in the basement of a hotel, but not quite so hidden, the street sign says "$5 Beers and Free Games - Thursdays & Fridays starting at 5pm and Saturdays at 8pm". Awesome deal for the area. Inside it's pretty spectacular. A huge circular fish tank, fun colorful lights and decor. Of course, the games. They have what I think was pac man or some arcade games on the tables. Ski ball in one corner and mini bowling in the other corner. The bowling system sometimes had issues and would shut down but workers fixed that stuff up fast in between rounds. Drinks were pretty tasty. You can be wild and crazy and order a gigantic fishbowl. They're a bit exorbitantly priced. Or just go with a traditional cocktail or their $5 beer specials. My favorite drink I tried was the Marble Queen: Milagro Silver, Coconut, Lime, and a chili salt rim. It tasted like a tequila pina colada. The Stout Old Fashioned was another great choice being both smoky and sweet. Food options. . . . nothing really totally stood out to me. A few appetizers were set up for a large group of us. The cheese with the pretzel nuggets was kind of good. The raw tuna poke in a jar was cute but also. . . . its just poke. I can eat poke not in a jar for way cheaper at so many places nearby. But I really liked some of the accompanying sauces that had like spicy mayo and a cilantro mayo kind of cream sauce. Sliders and nachos were just a-okay. Spinach artichoke cheese dip was a really small portion for a huge group to share. I think I ate like one spoonful but it tasted good. This spot is good for drinks and games more than food. But it's definitely worth checking out especially since the games are free!

Bowling is in my blood. Growing up in Florida, there are only really three things you can do: Watch…read morea movie, go to Chili's or Bowl. We would play so much back at home, it became economical to buy my own shoes and bowling ball (and also clearly great props for picking up the ladies...) It is not normally something worth doing in NY, due to high prices and low availability, but when I first heard of Better Off Bowling (BOB), I got really excited. In total, there are 40+ teams sized between 6-10 people. The league is pegged as recreational, though don't be amazed if you see players scoring 180+. Each week (total of 6) you are paired against another team, using your team's top 4 scores to battle it out. At the end of the season, each team is put against a team of similar record in the playoffs, but there isn't really like a single-elimination tournament at the end to crown an overall champion. The current season is finishing up, but there will be a new season starting at the end of Feb with a Sunday league and possibly a Wednesday league as well. (I'll update this post once more information comes out) Regardless, it is another opportunity to do something unique in a city full of new and random activities, spending time with friends and drinking (half price) beer. There is also a great post-game bar with loads of flip cup and beer pong a happening. So far, the people I have met during competition and afterwards have been awesome and ready to party (especially "Table Man", if any of you are lucky enough to meet him). Don't let lack of bowling skill stop you from having some fun a normally boring Sunday afternoon. I highly recommend getting a group of friends together and joining up. After all, dodge ball was only cool when the movie came out, so you should pick a different sport anyways.

I found this place after a coworker asked me to join his team. I found this place to be a great…read moreafter work spot. The team aspect is great as it allows you to socialize with your friends and new teams. There is more than just bowling too! All sorts of drinking games and Jenga! The prices are very reasonable too.

Upon arriving there were 9 groups ahead of us (YIKES) and you cannot use the Groupon after 6pm. However, the front desk and general manager Kendis, were very accommodating, informative and patient with the amount of times we checked in. Haha The moment something became available, him and his team made sure we didn't miss the 6pm cutoff. My waitress was also great, polite and made sure we were well taken care of . The food was really good, my burger was great, sampler was really good, pizza was decent, the funnel cake fries were yummm. Overall had a great experience.

I ended up at Lucky Strike in Chelsea with a few friends after work, kind of a "why not, let's just…read morebowl" situation, and honestly, it did the job. The whole vibe is very "planned fun," but in a way that works. You walk in and it's loud, lights everywhere, music going, lanes on one side, arcade stuff on the other. There's that mix of corporate outings, birthday groups, and random people just hanging out. It's not trying to be some cool underground spot, it's more like, here's a lane, here's a drink, go have fun with your people. Once we got into our game and started trash-talking each other, it felt relaxed and easy. Service was pretty decent. Our lane server was around enough where we didn't have to flag anyone down, which I appreciate because I hate chasing someone for a drink. Things slowed a little once it got busy, but nothing crazy. Drinks showed up, food showed up, orders were right, no one got forgotten. Nobody was over-the-top friendly or anything, but everyone we dealt with was nice and kept things moving. For a big, kinda chaotic place, that's honestly fine. On value, yeah, this is where you remember you're in Manhattan. By the time you pay for the lane, shoes, a couple rounds of drinks, and some food to share, the bill is... not small. It's definitely not a cheap little casual night out. But if you think of it as paying for the whole "bowling + arcade + bar" package, it doesn't feel outrageous. It makes more sense for a group thing, team event, or birthday than just popping in for one quick game. Fun vibe once you lean into it, service that gets the job done, and prices that are a bit high but kind of expected for where it is. I wouldn't make it a weekly ritual, but if someone suggested going back, I'd probably be like, "yeah sure, I'm down."
