For $5 a person parking/admittance, we joined some others at their campsite for the day. The sites were well-maintained, the rocky beach was clean, and it was a joy to spend the day on the cool river. We didn't need floats, but TRL had them available for rent, had we wanted them. Afterward, we visited the shower houses (which were pretty clean), cooked dinner on our grill, and watched the kids play on the playground. Before returning our day passes, we looked around the general store at the t-shirt, river toys, rafts, and more, followed by two scoops of hard ice cream in waffle cones. I would definitely come back, and I wouldn't recommend this campground to anyone looking to enjoy the river. Tech notes: I had Verizon 4G at the general store and at the campsite, but I was roaming at the river. There are two Pokestops near the general store.

We enjoyed a beautiful day floating on the Black River in Lesterville with Twin Rivers Landing…read more This is out favorite river to float and always use Twin Rivers. Their equipment is always in excellent condition and their service is great. This trip was exceptional because they had just had a terrible storm over night and the owners had been up all night. The resort water was out, their internet was out. They were still awesome. Even though the river was up and a little fast, we had a great day!

UPDATE: The family…read moretried to give this place another chance since our original review, unfortunately we had such a horrid time the second time I wish we could give negative stars. I reserved the 3 cabins for family members being told they were responsible for their fees when they arrived. Unfortunately due to injury and a lengthy hospital stay my aunt was unable to come and same with her nurse daughter as she was her caregiver. The owners told us they were going to charge us for the cabins! We only reserved the cabins we didn't book them! My aunt from her hospital payed for the cabins she and her daughter were going to stay in, then the owner was going to book it again and double dip! Our cabin was dirty and the AC leaked and was moldy causing me to have flair ups with my disabilities. A couple times when we were away and left the AC on so we'd come back to a cool cabin we came back to find someone had gone in and turned it off. The bathrooms are disgusting filthy moldy and always smelly. Everything inside is rotting and covered in mold. The sink and floors are never clean and the vents are cover in such a thick layer of filth and dust I doubt they work. The owners are rude and nitpick everything so you don't really relax or enjoy your stay because they creep and lurk around. I would never recommend them to anyone, they will never have any of our family's business again. This is a nice location and could be a very nice campground. We booked with our whole family to camp together before our family reunion, we were extremely disappointed to be placed in the front of the campground when we specifically requested we all be placed together. We and the other family had to hike to see each other. We had a total of 3 cabins and 6-7 campsites...we were the only ones placed so far away. We came from California to spend this time with family so it really ruined our time there. The campsites are nice but very close together. The fire rings are old tractor rims which was cute. The owners seemed nice and helpful escorting you to your spot but they were a bit too intrusive and put most of our party off when they nit picked everything from the children having fun, the dogs, and our evening family BBQ and fire. The bathrooms really need to be updated. They were mostly clean and the nice thing was no line or wait. The showers are painfully small. If you drop the soap you have to step out of the shower to retrieve it. There wasn't much space for your shower bag, towel, or clothes. The are also only two showers for each boys and girls. The campground also lacks a camp kitchen washing station at least a place to dump washing grey water. It is on a creek you can fish at and across the street is the river which flows into Clearwater Dam a couple miles down the road. There is a laundry and arcade. The stock firewood and ice.

One of my favorite spots on Earth is the Current River, which is a part of the National Ozark…read moreScenic Riverway. If you enjoy nature, water, and outdoor fun then this is a must visit spot! There are several great places to visit as a part of this area, but my favorites by far are the Current River and Big Spring on the Current River, and the campground of the same name. I have a wonderful group of friends that introduced me to floating on the Current when I was in college, and ever since this river has held a special place in my heart. We usually camp at Big Spring Campground. There are both electric, non-electric, and RV hookup's. There are real bathrooms, as well as hot showers within walking distance of camp (not porta potties, but it is a campground - so say hello to your local, resident spiders and their webs). We like this camp, because it's right on the river, family friendly, and close to town but far enough out to enjoy nature. While camping a must do experience for all is a walk to Big Spring. It's a natural cold spring, whose source pumps out enough fresh water to fill Busch Stadium in 33 hours! I like to walk there in the early morning or twilight to see the mist roll in. http://www.nps.gov/ozar/planyourvisit/big-spring.htm The nearby town of Van Buren offers: - a nice Lodge for those who want a nice dinner and/or whose idea of camping is air conditioning, nice beds, and tv - the local ice cream spot called The Jolly Cone - the local cafe, The Floatstream Restaurant, for your typical small diner food and a pretty okay breakfast - various small shops to stock up on essentials: beer, sunblock, souvenir tshirts, snacks, replaceable float shoes and swimsuits, intertubes, gas, fishing bait, etc. - and a whole lot of other small town amenities The water is spring fed. So it's super cold and clear - perfect for a hot summer's day! The Current has a pretty decent current, with nice deep water and wading shallows dotted with periodic gravel bars. It's great for intertubing and canoe trips. Various campgrounds and businesses offer rentals and trips with pick up and drop off options (2, 4, 6 hour floats, or even multiple day trips). Check out the area and find YOUR favorite spots and recommendations. It will probably become one of your favorite places on Earth too!
