My siblings and I are very pleased with how professional and welcoming the staff was here. As soon as we arrived we were greeted and attended to. Two of our siblings were running behind and they the staff was understanding and waited for them to arrive. Our photographers were Dee and Cheryl if I'm not mistaken, pardon me if I'm wrong . But these two were so energetic and made us feel as if we were long time friends. We had such a fun experience and will definitely be coming back. They made everything so easy. The appointment was for 1:30pm today. It is currently 2:10, and we have been waiting since 1:20. There is no one here. Security gate is closed. Couldn't get a hold of anyone with their "customer service number" (972) 265-7600. Tried emailing. Tried messaging them on social media. Not expecting a response in time to actually do the photo services today. Should have been a sign when it was difficult to even make the appointment. Website wasn't working for us to log in and make an appt online. Called and left several msgs with no call backs. Finally had called and got a hold of an actual person to make the appointment. Yet here we are with no one here to take photos after we drove 50 miles. read more

Horrible place to take pictures. Someone told me to try them but the Carson one because they have good deals. Lord I should have went back to Jc penny! First off they are unprofessional. They didn't have anyone after me so we spent 2 hours taking pics and I only have maybe 3 good photos. Such a waste of time, no good poses. They sale a usb with pics and email pics 2 days later. Never got the email. Called multiple times and talked to Fabian manager never called back. I still never received the email even though they updated my email. Fabian and Rachel were AMAZiNG! Our family recently booked holiday pictures in this location with a group of 6 kids from ages 7 months-5 years old. Fabian has been our photographer since the first kid that is 5 was born. We were taking our pics in the Buy Buy Baby Torrance location since he was there and we recently moved here since they closed down. We are blessed to have this extremely patient, caring photographer! Fabian spends his time with the kids and makes the best to have a perfect picture always! But at the end we end up loving more than one picture with the selection of pictures he takes. The staff are friendly and patient when dealing with children, especially newborns. The photography is good quality and creative in themes. Beautiful work. They take a robust number of photos, then hand pick and filter out the best shots, consolidating a proof album to view on their computer to select. Generally, a photo session encompasses various settings, so you can expect to see a range of a half dozen or so different shots that you'd find compelling to take home. Their packages start off shy of $500, but don't get sticker shock, it's typical for companies to downsell as opposed to upsell. So, once you see what they have to offer as "the full boat" ultimate package, you can scale down to something that fits your needs or budget. Costco has a $100 offer and Groupon has $16-26 offers, so you can look for discounts that way as well. No high pressure sales nor hidden fees or bait and switch tactics here. My son is 10 and my daughter is 3.. I've been doing the family holiday pics for quite awhile and I must say Addie and Christopher are awesome. Addie is an amazing photographer! There was not one pic that she took that we didn't like or that we delted and she took about 23! She has so much energy, she engaged my kids so they weren't bored, told me when I had lipstick on my teeth, and fixed my hair if there was a strand out of place for EVERY pose. Her attention to detail was amazing, down to the rubberband bracelets my son had on and my hair tie on my wrist. Christopher greeted us with a smile when walked in and made sure that we were updated on our wait status without me having to ask. Talked with my son about sports and my son felt right at home. Needless to say I bought the CD since I couldn't make up my mind about which pic was the best but got a great deal. So I went here for the second time last week to get some pictures taken, just because. It was a Saturday, Kaylan was my photographer and my pictures came out great! She was very helpful in helping me to pose, choose pictures and packages. It was like having a best friend there! My pictures are always great quality and I feel like I get a lot for my money. Because It's just me, I chose the 5 sheets for 75$ promotion. Normally, the pictures are priced at $18 per sheet. They have tons or special color effects that you can choose from but they don't do any airbrushing--it aint that kind of party! Oh and they also have frames for sale. Making an appointment is very easy and same day appointments are available! When there aren't a lot of people in the studio you can pick and receive your photos in less than 5mins but when there are lots of people in the studio it could take up to an hour! The only thing that I don't like about the Picture People is that they don't cut the photos.........its a pain to cut your own photos and risk messing them up!!!! read more

I bought a groupon because my entire family is coming to visit me for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Before they all flew back home, I wanted to schedule for an appointment to have a professional take our picture. I called for a Thursday appointment asking for a slot in the evening. The guy on the other line said he was fully booked the entire day of Thursday and Wednesday. Don't know why I just happen to ask if they had a slot in the morning. He then said, oh yes, we do have a slot open in the am. When I was about to ask about the time open, he asked me how many in the party and when i replied 9; he said, he wouldn't be able to accomodate us at that time because there were a lot of us. Someone enlighten me please if they have different studios? It's a small place? Whatever it was, didn't know that # of people in the photo op mattered so I called groupon for a refund. read more

My overall experience was great. My appointment was for my baby girl's 1st birthday- cake smash! This was my first time ever attempting a cake smash photo session. I envisioned my one year-old loving the cake and being happy as can be during the photo session. Boy, was I wrong! She did not care for the cake, the frosting was too thick almost like melted marshmallows. At first she didn't know what to think and after less than a minute she started getting fussy and wanting to crawl away from the cake. Chris was very patient and pulled out every trick in the book to get my daughter to smile and in turn, capture great photos/memories. We did 2 outfit changes and three background changes. I never felt rushed by Chris. In fact he suggested different ideas and said we had plenty of time. Chris was AMAZING! This was my first time at Picture People I usually go to JCP. I was very pleased with my experience and will be returning. The biggest difference between JCPenney and Picture People is the fact that with Picture People you get the pictures the same day. Worse photography experience. This was my first time coming here. The girl that was taking the pictures didn't capture the good ones and the one helping her was making my kids feel to overwhelmed. At the end the manager stepped in to help and the kids did good. Wait time was forever and we were the only ones there. Then when it was time to view photos the girl made it soooooo overwhelming that I just got the usb and a canvas photo because I wasn't going to pay $300 on crappy photos with messed up backgrounds. I get home and my canvas looks so tacky to even put in my living room! Then I look back at the photos on the usb and they seriously were not worth the money. I wasted $150! The backgrounds are horrible!! Then I go on there website and it says add any 2 framed portraits for $99! Really?! Never going back to this place! read more

Walked into the wrong location for our 4:30pm appointment on a crowded Sunday and we were still accepted and treated so kind by Ashlee. She assisted us with great pleasure and kind words, made arrangements for us to keep our appointment and still use our Groupon. Lesley took the pictures of our baby girl and they turned out wonderful with so many perfect expressions of her personality. They don't stick to appointments, you'll wait forever to get your picture taken and then wait even longer to see your pictures. The people working here have no energy and lack customer service. First off: to all the people complaining about the wait time (on Yelp and at the studio), IT'S THE HOLIDAY SEASON! OF COURSE IT'S GONNA BE BUSY AND YES, YOU HAVE TO WAIT w/ or w/o appointment. We waited about an hour and a half WITH appointment but I have no complaints! With that said, the staff takes time with each session and makes sure you get GOOD pictures! Even within the chaos, the staff members never lost their smile and treated everyone equally and professionally. We had an appointment at 4:20 for a maternity shot. Ended up waiting about an hour and a half but I'm completely ok with it because they did such an amazing job! We got great pictures for a good price. Thank you to all the workers that were there running around like a chicken with its head cut off and still managed to work so hard! We were early for our appointment and it was over a half hour past our scheduled time before we started the shoot. They had forgotten about our appointment and instead took two walk in clients before us. After two minutes, our photographer asked if we'd "like to reschedule". We said no the first 8-10 times we we're asked, but eventually had to give up with no services rendered and over an hour wasted. If you're looking for good service at a studio I'd recommend this picture People location, I had a really bad experience inside their BuybuyBaby location and was able to get a reshoot here with WAY better and SUPER FRIENDLY photographers and staff I couldn't believe the difference between the two. She was really good with our baby. I was able to surprise my husband with Christmas pictures of our baby and his face lit up when he came home to them! I hate this place so much. They just love to waste your F'en time and take forever to do anything . Have a appointment? Oh that doesn't matter, they will get with you within an hour or so. Oh, you want to see your pictures today? Well that's going to take another two hours. Want to actually take possession of your pictures the same day? Well shit, that's going to take another 1-2 hours. I kid you not, my kids Christmas photo session was a 5 hour ordeal! Now I want Valentine photos? Well I had to come one day, but I could not wait the hour and a half it would take to view the photos, so I came back the next day, made an appointment for 1220 just to view the photos. So far I've been waiting 1 hours just to view. It's looking like I'll need to come back again tomorrow to view the photos. I would recommend anywhere but this god awful, soul crushing, sorry excuse for a business. Every time I come here, my blood boils and wants to explode out of my body. Came to South Bay Galleria to take extended family pictures. Made an appointment a few weeks prior and was able to get a studio reservation capable of holding 8 people. Our photographer, Adylenia, did a fantastic job managing two families that included two little boys and a newborn. We were happy with her creativity and the results she obtained. Enrique, our sales advisor did a great job being patient with my mom's questions and requests and helped us get to 15 portrait sheets. Really disappointed with our experience here. Studio is neat, clean, contemporary props, easy to make appt and organized. But... photographer was not helpful, just shot pics of my two kids but left all the positioning and entertaining up to us (we could just do that ourselves at home!). Took 40 min to load pics for viewing, spent several minutes trying to be sold things. Picture ordering felt rushed and kids were a mess by then. Ended up ordering some prints but regret it as they weren't really what we wanted. Spent almost as much as if we'd hired an inexpensive personal photographer. Maybe it's just this location?? First off the chic at the front desk was not very nice to my friends who had recommended that we take my newborn's portraits here. They wanted to check us in since our kids are doing a shoot together but they refused. The girl had even seen my husband and I walk in and she still said she wasn't going to check us in.... so whatever no biggie right?? Well, both our families finish our shoot.At the end of ours, we were told to wait so we can scan our photos... so we wait... and wait... and wait.... for more than 3hours. We're from orange frikkin county. DUDE... the only thing we had going for us was that we weren't going to be waiting in traffic -_- My friend ends up telling the same girl who was at the front desk.. who also sat with another customer for about ohhhh 30min-1hour WHILE we were waiting in front of her..... that we've been waiting for such a long time. She said she understood blah blah .. she didn't do a frikkin thing. Another girl must have overheard this conversation because she came out from the back and said she'd be with us... which she was. and the other chic just asked to go on break. WOW.hardly working much??? If we had gotten this girl right from the start I probably would've given this location at least 3 or 4 stars. anyways,,, she got us through picking our photos and even gave us free sheets as an apology. I mean C'MON. we were the last ones there and people who came after us were leaving before us. FAIL guys... we were like starrrvingggg and thirsty.... I should've passed out to see what they would've done.. anyways if any of you go back--avoid the place if you see the short chic with spikey hair and tattoos who sounds like a dude. I bought the Living Social deal awhile back... $18 for a package with a free sitting. We took my niece there for her 1 year pictures a few weeks ago. The place was completely overbooked. We showed up 1/2 hour early, like they suggested, and were seen 1/2 hour PAST our original appointment time. By that time, my niece was tired and hungry and completely melted down so much so that the photographer suggested (after five minutes) we come back at a different time. Fine. We went back a few weeks later and had a better experience - there weren't as many people, our photographer was MUCH better, more patient, got some great shots of the baby. We couldn't decide on just one so we decided to order the CD of all of the pictures - with the living social deal, the CD was half-off (regular price: $150). We left, CD in hand, so excited that everything worked out and she got good shots of the kid. Once I got home (an hour away from Picture People), I excitedly put the CD in my computer. It. Was. BLANK. Nothing on it. I paid $75 for a blank CD. That was on a Sunday. I called them that night, and they said, "oh just bring it back and we'll give you the correct one." I responded, "I live an hour away and work 40 hours a week - when do you suggest I bring it back?" He quickly said, "Oh, we'll mail it for you, I'll put it in the mail tomorrow." Because I have a general distrust of people who work in the mall, I called back on Monday afternoon. The woman who sold us the pictures told me they delete the photos off of the server 48 hours after the photos are taken - UNLESS we buy the $150 per year Picture People VIP bull-sh*t. So I called on Monday afternoon to make sure they had mailed the CD, and to make sure they don't delete her photos until I receive the CD, make sure it's okay, and called them. He said, "Oh yes, it was Fed Ex'd today." That was Monday. I had not received the CD by Wednesday, so today (Thursday), I called. I explained myself and said I'd like a tracking number so I can find out where exactly where the CD was. I know you'll be utterly SHOCKED to find out they haven't mailed the CD yet (sarcasm). They said they'll do it tomorrow, so I asked if they could overnight it, and he said, "I'll talk to them and suggest that." I said, "It's a matter of how much money you're willing to spend. Fed Ex can overnight it for you if you're willing to pay." Lessons in how to Fed Ex, part 1. Not only are Picture People's poses, backgrounds, and props kind of generic, but their customer service is CRAP. I won't go back. I'd rather pay more money for a better photographer and a smaller headache. read more

We were unable to make an appointment that day, so I was nervous about the wait especially since this was for my 1 year old. Everyone was really busy, but they took great care of us at the end. The store manager took my daughter's pictures and she was awesome with her! We are so happy that they squeezed us in, despite being booked back to back. I'd used Picture People before for my own photos, but this time had my nieces and nephew along for the ride. They are 5, 4 and 2. Our photographer was Heather. She was great, came up with some really great poses for them. My nephew wasn't really feeling it, but Heather helped him find a prop that immediately got him in front of the backdrop and posing! She was very patient. I was using a Groupon which was a good deal. I purchased some additional photos, but didn't feel pressured to do so. The folks were really nice, in spite of my crew being a little cranky while we waited. It is really great that you can now pick up your photos the same day. read more

Here are some words that I associate with the picture people: Lame Waste of Time Poor Customer Service Crappy Customer Service SUCKS!!! We had a 3pm appointment and we show up at 2:55pm. The person working the counter told us that 3 photographers didn't show up today so they are running about 20 minutes behind schedule. We were ok with that and decided to wait. We waited patiently but when we hit the 40 minute mark we had to track someone down and ask what the status is for our photo session and the staff person said that it would be another 30 minutes!!! At that point we've wasted almost an hour waiting around. What I want to know is if they knew 3 photographers didn't show up, why didn't they call all the appointments that would be affected? That is such HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. We definitely will not patronize this company. We are going to look into Sears or hire an independent photographer. Picture People SUCK!!! Avoid the weekends. I went on a Sunday with appointments made online and it was a mad house. Most people are their with babies/children so it gets pretty crazy. The photographer was nice and friendly but I wouldn't call her professional. She was unsure of how to deal with the reflection of my glasses. The poses she asks for are standard, I'm sure. I didn't like the way the props were handled for the baby (my 6 month old). She used a blanket/fabric for the ground and had my baby on it and then next she lays a chair on top of it for a different pose. I know I can't have everything sanitized but baby stuff should be taken care of more carefully. Pictures turned out decently, I must say. I just don't see myself returning here often. read more

Let's preface this by saying that this was a really bad day for the store. Apparently, 4 people had quit just before this weekend -- the week before Mother's Day -- and they only had 2 photographers on staff. Couple that with the fact that they had several walk-ins and a lot of people who were late for their appointments. This made for a backlog of customers and a lot of angry, bitchy people. There's something about waiting a couple hours longer than you'd like -- with your family or a crabby baby -- that brings out the worst in people. I'm speaking mainly about the lady next to us who had raised such a fuss with her salesman that it disrupted our sitting. And when we remarked about it, she threatened to spit on my wife. Yeah, you lady, I'm talking about you. You caused such a disruption, I'm amazed the staff didn't have you forcibly removed from the store. This is the kind of behavior that comes out of people who are trying to make the best impression possible for themselves on film. Yes, they were backlogged with appointments. Yes, we waited 45 minutes for our shoot even after checking in on time. Yes, the whole process took way longer than necessary and was an overpopulated, frantic mess. But let it not be said that any of the staff lost their heads or professionalism. In fact, I'd say today was probably their finest. I personally witnessed 4 employees take a severe tongue-lashing from a disgruntled customer for things that may or may not have been their fault. (I can actually say with confidence that 2 of those people were either late for their appointment or demanding services beyond what is offered.) They all kept their cool. They were nicer than I would have been. With all this chaos ensuing -- and even though our session ran late -- we had a great sitting. We were able to easily pick out our prints. It was fun for us and our baby. Our photographer, John, was a total pro. Even when we realized, afterwards, that we didn't order enough prints that we needed from our shoot, we were able to go back and pick up the sheets we needed after a quick phone call. I want to say a big thanks to Byron, John and Belinda for their top-notch, professional service today. You all took a day riddled with nastiness on the part of other patrons and made it tolerable. And the photos we came home with are simply wonderful. TIP: Call the actual location to schedule your appointment and arrive early. That will save you a lot of grief. read more

Picture people is at Sears, next to the baby clothes department. Jordyn is a wonderful photographer. She knew how to angle and pose me so I could get a good shot. I needed a professional headshot. I normally have a hard time with photographers. She was very easy for me. And I found two shots that I liked. This is a simple process here which I appreciated. This was also a Groupon. I'm here at least 2x year with my kids using the Groupon offers I get. Most of the time I get good photography done. The wait can be long at times but an appointment is definitely recommended. I made a Monday appointment because Sunday was completely booked: I should have known that Monday was not going to be any better. I bought a Groupon deal for (1) pose package w/ 8 sheets for $16. (I know, a steal). I came here to shoot my daughters, age 6 and 3, and I couldn't wait to use it because they were so overdue for new pics. I have to say that the pictures came out really cute, and even though the 3 yr. old wasn't as cooperative as I would have liked, the pictures did not reflect this. The photographer did a great job of capturing their personalities. I ended up getting the (1) Groupon package with one pose and (3) sheets of other poses. However, we were at the store for about three hours from the time we arrived, the wait time to take the pictures, view them and for them to be printed. This was very disappointing, considering that they say on their website that you can expect to have your pictures in minutes! I am willing to go there again for pictures, but I hope that they will be better staffed and give better customer service. If the wait wasn't so long, I would have given them 4 stars.... read more
