Love this place! I've been coming here (since they were originally at Topanga Mall) for about 4 years now. I love that they always have deals on Groupon which gives you a rrally good amount of pictures (ONE pose only) and anything more is an extra $20 (upsell). Still not bad at all. The staff is always super nice and they really seem like they enjoy their job. I've been bringing my kids here and they always get really good pictures of them, I struggle to get ONE decent picture of them on my phone so, cuddos to them. I will continue to come here for as long as my kids allow me to take professional pictures of them. Thanks guys! read more

We had an amazing experience for my daughter's 18th birthday. Our photographer, Fox, was a pleasure to work with. He was very respectful and kept my daughter at ease. He also threw in some extras. We haven't used a studio photographer for several years so we were extremely happy with everything. Alfredo did a great job taking our family photo for our annual holiday card and the manager Sarah was very helpful in getting our ordered processed quickly and making our framed photos look beautiful. My only complaint (which has nothing to do with the service) is their store policy (which is not Sarah or Alfredo's fault) that they no longer allow pets!!! Bailey was allowed because she is a legitimate service dog, but I was shocked and saddened when I heard they do not allow pets! Before they were located inside Sears, they allowed pet family photos as the first or last appointment of the day. So while I think they do a terrific job at fair prices, I won't be returning to this location unless they change their pet policy. read more

We took our baby's first year pictures and we were very happy with the service and the quality of the pictures. Kristen was amazing with our baby. She made her laugh so hard and as a result she captured the cutest pictures ever. The poses and backdrops came out so nice. She went above and beyond to capture our baby's smile. We got lost in the mall and were a little late to our session and they were still able to accommodate us. Also I saw them disinfect the props after the pictures were done which I appreciated. 10/10 recommended!!! read more

The man (perhaps fox?/the manager) is extremely rude and impatient. We were running around 10 minutes behind as we were getting 2 infants and 1 toddler ready for the photos.. I asked him how long the session was twice - only for him to make a point to say we were "already 10 minutes late and I close at 6". Photos started and he scolded us to put our phones away to not take photos as it's "his job". He took a few pictures that were satisfactory at best. He then would change the props and toss the others around like he was throwing garbage. He was short with our kids and with us as we tried to navigate taking photos. Once we were finished he went to the back to get the photos loaded. When he showed us the 10 or so on the screen, maybe 4 were actually decent.. super disappointed!! The packages were super expensive and limited. I went to pay and the machine asked to tip this man!!! I gave him 5% to be kind but it's now the next morning and I am still upset at how this man talked to us and treated me during this situation!! I have complained on the company site and hope to hear back soon. I will not be returning and this man should be fired. If you can't be kind go work somewhere else. I had an extremely unpleasant experience with the man who took my pictures on Oct 12th. He aggressively misgendered me the entire time every time he referred to me and other mean nicknames (instead of asking our names). He was misogynistic and homophobic. He belittled me and implied I was not an adult. He also was ableist when I asked him for clearer instructions about how to move. He also said that I "made him point" when I did so when pointing was still not clear considering everyone was standing extremely close together. Altogether I will not be returning to Picture People and I hope he is reprimanded. read more

I purchased a local $16 Groupon photo session for my 2yr old. This was his very first experience (outside of easter bunny/santa pics) he did very well..understand that the atmosphere is high pace and our lovely photographer,Rayna was very personable and patient. My son engaged really well with her and the pictures came out great! I will stress that this was a $16 Groupon and I walked away spending $158. On a huge frame (3 pictures) a membership with future discounts and a CD with all of the pictures from his session (over $100) value But like I said the prints came out great! Well worth it. Let me start by saying I went in for the $18 offer. Well I spend over $150 and guess what!? Totally worth it. Sarah was the photographer to help us, she was very patience with my crying un-cooperative baby girl. Even thou they were busy she took her time and did her best to make my baby smile, she was great!! And after all was done Dario help us out with the options, he took his time and show us the packages and show us the different photos 1 by 1!! We end up with 2 big framed pictures and a bunch of prints, totally worth it!! As a first timer I loved it. And will be returning for sure. I urgently needed to get my mom and sons age 2 1/2 passport picture. I called in the morning and spoke to Kristin which was very nice, helpful and knowledgeable. Then a manager called me at 4:30pm to confirm I would be there at 6:00pm, which I confirmed and headed promptly there. Now the train wreck, I arrived at 5:45pm and right away as he opened the door which was already locked before time, Fox said I just mopped for closing, sit to the left while I get ready. Again my son is younger but follows directions fairly well, only hard if they feel intimidated energy. Even the way he was speaking to my mom to sit and turn around to face him. Pathetic customer service. Fox had the most terrible attitude, overall he seemed frustrated and short fused. I was sorry to have shown up, all the way from Burbank only to be terribly disappointed. My son had a scratch on a cheek I asked if he could of photoshopped, kind of the whole reason I didn't go to a pharmacy for the picture. In any event as I paid I told him, seems like you're not having a good day, kind of over it. He sarcastically said I love my job, and continued with processing payment. As hard as it was to get a decent picture of my son he comes out only to say he messed it up and that we won't be able to use it, that we would have to retake. I was very upset and I told him if he wasn't so frustrated and negative from the beginning that might of not have happened. He said you can lecture me or we try again. Clearly missing the goal, I usually give people the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it's just a bad day, but man, the way he ignored my boys after they were speaking to him really got under my skin. I couldn't of wanted to leave faster. Fox was unpleasant, unprofessional, and above all everything far away from what I assume "picture people" strive to be. Fox clearly needs retraining. I had the BEST experience with Jessie yesterday! She was AMAZING with my 10 month old son who never smiles. We got smiles in every picture!!! I cannot sing her praises enough, everyone is in love with these Cupid Valentine pics she got! Further more she was very kind and professional. I went for maternity photos and was horrified when I was told there were no longer private rooms and I was expected to take my maternity photos literally in the waiting room with 3+ families looking on. I've always used picture people for our Christmas photos but I would not reccomend for maternity photos, it's just not practical for certain outfits. I look unhappy in nearly all the photos but at least I got maternity photos I guess. read more

We really enjoyed our time here and it went much better than expected. Our photographer was fantastic, and did really well with our 6 month old. We had a Groupon and ended up buying the digital images and becoming Picture People members because of how much we loved all the pictures. I guess we will be coming here a lot more! I do think it was pricey and they were having a deal for 40% off the digital images CD but didn't tell us so we paid full price. I know that they aren't obligated to tell us if we didn't know but still feel like that would have been nice to at least tell us. Oh well...we still really enjoyed our daughter's pictures. read more

I had never been here before purchasing a Groupon. A much-needed portrait of my now eight-month-old was overdue. We set up our appointment, had to reschedule due to a family issue, and were on our way. Everything went off without a hitch. Their props are adorable, the studio was nice, and the photographs are absolutely precious. One complaint was the girl didn't really know how to get that award-winning smile (It wins formula. From me.) out of my baby. She was really good at the peek-a-boo and goobly stuff, but he thought it was just strange. The Groupon package was great, but the add-ons and online deals are a little out of my price range. Compared to JC Penney, if that's the standard, then you really do get what you pay for. I bought a Groupon deal for Picture People and made an appointment for the Northridge location. The gentleman on the phone when I made the appointment was nice, asked me if we were to do any outfit changes, etc. Even so, we were not informed how long our appointment would be which would have been ideal since my son was 7 weeks at the time of the appointment. Essentially, it would help us calculate how much of our photo shoot time would be interrupted by the outfit changes and the fact that he's a newborn baby, what would be worth the time we had. I've never been to this location, but the gentleman did say they were located in Sears. When we arrived, I didn't know if they were located on the 1st or 2nd floor, so I called to inquire. The lady who answered was rude snd low and behold, who should be our photographer?! I had high expectations as any parent does, mostly for the experience as this is my first baby at his first photo shoot. I knew he may not have perfect shots and he was fussy, so I had to feed him before the shoot. The rude photographer lady you could tell, did not enjoy her job, made snide comments during our shoot, and missed 2 amazing photo opportunities where my son smiled at me and my husband because she was already going through the shots she had taken. My mother in law had spent an extra fortune to purchase more pictures and 2 with frames which we waited for in the waiting area. I also watched her interaction with the 2 other appointments she had as well. I understood she had problems as she was grossly understaffed being the only one there, the phone rang a few times during our session, and she had to go through our pictures with us while being bombarded with questions and comments by upcoming appointments. She still was snippy and snarky and the entire process felt rushed and incomplete. I was happy with a couple of pictures, but she had only taken 25 in total which included both my son's outfits and the different poses with me, my husband, his mother and grandmother. I know because my mother in law purchased ALL THE PICTURES. If you are going to be understaffed, apologize in advance and let your guests know you are on your own. This a managerial problem and does not reflect on the employee but what does reflect on them is their attitude and treatment of their guests. This is an event a family is celebrating or making memories. We will not always get what we want in terms of the perfect portrait, but we go away with the experience. I was thoroughly disappointed and wish I could do the entire thing over. I did not feel I received my money's worth. read more

Went in on a busy Saturday evening and they do take walk ins (though it's usually a long wait time), they took us in no problem and luckily with no wait time, for my 6 month olds first Christmas pictures. They're back open under new ownership and better than ever! We had a re-shoot that was scheduled for the day they went out of business. We showed up and nobody had a clue what was going on. After a little online research i discover they went out of business. We kind of just took it as a loss but then to my surprise 2 weeks ago i got a call saying they had reopened! Hoping this wasn't some kind of prank we showed today and Kristen took great care of us. She was amazing with the girls and knows all the tricks of the trade to get great pictures! Horrible service. Waited patiently for almost an hour and the rep said our turn was next. She then proceeds to a family sitting next to us to call them up when their appointment time was 30mins after ours. We got up and left, it was unbelievable! I understand it's a business, but this is unacceptable. Don't book increments of 20 mins when clearly more time is needed per session. Please save your time and find a better place, better service, and better quality. Terrible experience! read more

With our cameras, we often forget to order more permanent photos. I went to Picture people in the mall when they opened in 2020. and again recently..really delighted with our photos! 1 star does not even do justice to the service of this place. First of all, this isn't my first time coming to this place.. and for the past 4 yrs, we've been coming to picture people (not this location) and I have never had this kind of experience. We had an appt set for 3pm, my son, who is an 8 month old was not having it that day which caused us to be late to our appt. And any parent can relate to this. When I checked in, the lady said "You are 20 mins late to your appt, so you will be considered as a walk in since there are other people who came to their appt on time." I get it, however she failed to tell me exactly when we'll be taking our pics. As I was finalizing checking in, another lady sho was helping me out was super rude! Her tone and demeanor was very rude. Finally, my fiancé asked them when we would be able to take our pics and they replied with "If the 430 appt doesn't show up then you guys will be next." That is a very poor response cus now we're banking on another customers time? If this organization takes walk ins.. they should service them better otherwise do us all a favor and not entertain walk ins. I get it, it's the holidays.. it's busy but there's better ways to treat your paying customer. We ended up walking out. And I can assure you.. they will never have my business ever again. read more

We have gone to Picture People tons of times. Unfortunately, all the ones we have gone to in the past have closed and relocated. We always get 4 month pictures of our kids at Picture People so that we can use their basket prop and get their canvas, since we have one of our two boys like that. So, we made an appointment for our daughter's 4 month photo shoot for continuity. The lady at the desk was kind of rude. She was very short with us and seemed annoyed every time she spoke to us. We were early for our appointment by like a half hour, which does not help here. We waited til about 5 minutes after our appointment to start, and it was the same lady taking our pictures. To her credit, she redeemed herself with her picture-taking skills. She was good with the kids and got them to smile- and my son never smiles for pictures. We had a rough time with our 4 month old and she was patient with us. She was still not the nicest during any other part, but we didn't mind her as a photographer. But maybe she shouldn't be greeting people and stuff... She told us 15-20 minutes to see our pictures. The couple before us was taking forever to choose theirs, and it took 40 minutes. That really bothered us because we hadn't eaten lunch yet and could have done so. 40 minutes when you're told 15-20 is a lot. Also, we were not offered any kind of discount for purchasing a lot of stuff, and in the past we always have been (we have done Picture People pictures like 15 times and have always been given discounts). I imagine a bunch closing down has to do with that, but we ended up spending over $400 and not enjoying the whole experience much. This place needs more employees. At least one more. It was very busy and one more person could have made the whole process better. We will not be back to this location if we do go back to Picture People. Edited: we just got home to upload our pictures from the CD we paid for, and half of the pictures are unedited- meaning legs of the photographer in two pictures and four of them with the outsides of the set. Not happy to have to crop my own photos on this $100 CD. read more

If I could give you zero stars I would!!! First off I called and made an appointment Friday because online was not working secondly I got a text Saturday to Confirm my appointment I clicked to confirm Sunday I get another text as well as an email to confirm I do both Sunday evening I get a phone call that I need to confirm my appointment. We show up Monday 20 mins early so we would be ready to go for our appointment and Sarah Rudely asks me what we are doing I look at her dumb founded and said pictures she then again asks me what are we doing I again say pictures finally the third she asks what kind of pictures and who is in picture witch I had told her when I called to make appointment that it was for dance pictures for my daughter and she said oh how cute! Then we get Kristen as a photographer very friendly takes great pictures and my daughter has so much fun well Kristen then shows us pictures and yes they are all cute and I would of loved them all but I am on a budget so that is why I bought the Groupon well I get attitude that I am not buying anything other then the one print 8 sheet that I had already bought I started to pick up my bags and purse to get ready to go and I get you still have not picked your print sizes I said I know that was told out 2.47 charge for tax and went to pay she tells us she has to keep the receipt to look it over and that our prints would be right out I told her we would be back after we got something to eat due to having to wait 20 mins over our appointment time and was rudely told to sit down and wait because they were going on lunch. After getting our prints and going to give them out to grandparents we noticed the color of each print is different in each photo so we go back and we're told that she could lighten picture or reprint but they would all look them same. I then asked for a number to talk to someone other then her and the only number she has was to her store so I asked how do I get another number to someone else she tells me again I only have this store number I again ask there has to be someone else I can talk to she tells me to get online and contact someone through there. This is not the first time we have experienced rudeness from Sarah I am thinking she needs a new job she enjoys because working with families is not where she needs to be.... please think long and hard before you go to this location I have only been a few times but will NEVER BE BACK !!!! hope this helps someone out there! read more

Very unorganized and understaffed. The floors and chairs are filthy. Why don't they let you choose your own pictures without having a sales rep near by? They could give you a code and invoice number so be able to view your images. It's such a primitive process there. We were there 2 hours with appointment. Half hour to be able to see your images and another half hour to have them printed. I will never return. Some rude customer made Samantha cry because it was taking too long. read more

I always take my kids to picture people in the topanga mall, i love how the employees always make my kids smile and we walk away very happy with the outcome. This time we decided to drive less and go the the northridge location and what a mistake. The employees couldn't even get a smile out of the kids, we dont have one normal picture from the photo shoot plus i have called 3x since the photo shoot and they still have not added the pictures to my album online. I will never go to this location again. Please send your team to take a few notes from the other location. read more

Horrible service from the beginning. I called to make an appointment for my 7 month infant and Sarah answered the phone, extremely rude, that should have scared me away, but it didn't. I made an appointment either way. We arrived early and witness Sarah, responding rudely to another customer scolding her for arriving late. I tried to check and see if they were running on schedule or a bit behind to schedule a nap for my infant and Sarah was condescending and rude. Seems like she has never worked in customer service, no people skills. I walked out so disappointed I can not believe what manager would allow such a horrible customer service person to work at a photo studio to attend to families. We have gone to multiple locations in the past and never had a negative experience, but rest assure my family and friends will never go to a Picture People Studio. read more

Great Photo Session! Our photographer Jesse was amazing with my little guy. I came in for my son's 2nd Birthday and she had the cutest poses for him. My son hardly smiles (serious little man lol) but she made it happen! I couldn't be happier she made our special day extra special!
