She knew exactly how to swaddle and pose him, while Steve was a true artisan with the camera. Steve captured the most expressive shots at all the right angles. Beverly and Steve were also very receptive to our requests! My husband is a rock climber, so we wanted to create a couple of newborn pictures that included his climbing gear. Beverly made it come together so beautifully! Steve and Beverly were also patient and kind about newborn messes (spraying during diaper changes, spit up after feeding, etc.). They've seen it all (they are parents themselves), and the mess doesn't faze them. In addition, they gave some great advice to ease my anxieties as a first-time mom. We are so pleased with our experience here. The final photos are beautiful and we'll cherish them for a lifetime. I can't recommend this studio highly enough.

They gave us plenty of time to settle and feed the baby, and even when she spit up all over their couch, they were nothing but kind and reassuring. Their home studio was warm and welcoming, and they went the extra mile--at one point, their daughter even played with my toddler so we could focus on photos. As any parent knows, getting a toddler and a newborn to cooperate is no small task, but they made it feel easy. The final photos were beautiful and captured our kids perfectly. I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking for a thoughtful, talented, and genuinely kind photography team!

We were originally a bit nervous because my wife and I don't typically do photoshoots and sometimes feel uncomfortable being romantic in front of a camera (we didn't even do an engagement shoot for that reason), but with Emma it was so easy and natural. We had a great time taking photos with her and loved her visions for our wedding party, detail shots, golden hour photos, and everything else. Thank you so much Emma!

Emma is truly a superstar. There are not enough good things to say about her in a review…read more We received our wedding photos a couple weeks ago, and they are incredible. Emma and her assistant (I am so sorry that I am forgetting her name) were able to capture everything we loved about that day. We got so many photos as part of our package, and there are no duds. It is an impossible task to go through and pick our favorites. The photos are the part of the wedding that last forever, and we could not be happier that we went with Emma. What my wife and I were drawn to about Emma's photos when we were shopping around, and what we saw reflected in our own photos, is her ability to capture little moments. She has a great sense for when something subtle but meaningful is happening, like a family member starting to tear up, or a speechgiver's friend in the crowd laughing at their joke. That's what is really valuable about the photos to us, and something I am not sure every photographer can get you. She is also a consummate professional. She is efficient and purposeful-she makes sure she captures all the important moments without consuming your whole day with photos. She provides clear instructions, which is helpful as the wedding couple, but is even more helpful when you are taking family photos with several different combinations of people. Emma is also so kind and lovely to be around. I normally do not like having photos taken of me, and it can be uncomfortable to be in that many photos, making serious faces, and allowing someone in during a highly emotional day. Emma makes that whole process comfortable and enjoyable. You can tell she has a real passion for doing this and truly enjoys getting to know the couples. Her friendliness and confidence put you at ease. This is a really important point-you spend as much time with the photographer on your wedding day as anyone else! Emma is a great person to spend that time with. I also want to note that all of the above is also true of Emma's assistant. Again, I am so sorry I am forgetting her name. But she was in charge of getting most of the groom and groomsmen photos at the beginning of the ceremony, and was such a pleasure to work with. That was the point in which I was the most nervous, and she made the whole process go smoothly and the day started out on a great foot as a result. We cannot recommend Emma enough.

He also threw in some extras. We haven't used a studio photographer for several years so we were extremely happy with everything. I asked him how long the session was twice - only for him to make a point to say we were "already 10 minutes late and I close at 6". Photos started and he scolded us to put our phones away to not take photos as it's "his job". He took a few pictures that were satisfactory at best. He then would change the props and toss the others around like he was throwing garbage. He was short with our kids and with us as we tried to navigate taking photos. Once we were finished he went to the back to get the photos loaded. When he showed us the 10 or so on the screen, maybe 4 were actually decent.. super disappointed!! The packages were super expensive and limited. I went to pay and the machine asked to tip this man!!! I gave him 5% to be kind but it's now the next morning and I am still upset at how this man talked to us and treated me during this situation!! I have complained on the company site and hope to hear back soon. I will not be returning and this man should be fired. If you can't be kind go work somewhere else. These are the places where we timestamp our memories. He ruined the experience!! Will not be returning!

After hearing about Rena on a NYC actors Facebook page, I decided to book a headshot session with…read moreher for my daughter during her next trip to NYC. In order to take advantage of a small early bird discount, I booked 6 months in advance for a full session, including hair, makeup and wardrobe styling. The deposit I needed to pay up front came to $650, which I promptly paid. As luck would have it, two months before the session with Rena, my daughter booked a huge Broadway tour, which had us leaving the week before the shoot, with no plans to come back to NYC or to go to LA during the current contract term. I immediately reached out to Rena about the situation and her assistant suggested selling our slot since, according to her contract, we would only be able to get half of our deposit ($325) applied to another session when we reschedule, as long as it's within a year of the first one. I did everything possible to try to sell my slot and couldn't find any takers. I contacted Rena (or her assistant) again a week later and begged her to help me. She kept suggesting selling the slot or rebooking to use 1/2 of my money that she already had in her pocket. She didn't offer to try to rebook or post about the open slot herself, but left it all on my shoulders. Each time she recommended that I just reschedule so I don't lose the entire $650, I would explain that I have no idea how long my daughter will actually be on tour, since there's always a chance of being renewed, so there would be no way to reschedule at that point. She then actually wrote back that I should have booked out the date of the session so we didn't end up with this issue. I'm sorry...WHAT? The point of the headshots is to help the kids book amazing opportunities. Was my kid supposed to turn down a national Broadway tour, which is an amazing opportunity, to keep a photoshoot on the books? Our manager then reached out and asked if Rena herself was aware of the situation. The assistant continued responding, without Rena herself ever getting involved, to say the exact same thing to our manager that she said to me. I can understand that businesses need to have regulations for refunding deposits when someone cancels last minute, or they forget to show up or they just decide they don't want to have photos taken anymore. Heck, I'd even be ok with her keeping the deposit if she offered to use ALL of it, not just 1/2 of it, towards a session in the future. But when a full two months of notice of a truly legitimate reason for a working actor to cancel a headshot session is given, I think it is completely unprofessional and ridiculous not to make an exception to the contract or come to a mutually agreed upon solution for an extenuating circumstance. At this point, I have just resigned myself to the fact that I've basically gifted $650 to Rena Durham for doing absolutely nothing.
