I have been to the LA Philharmonic Walt Disney Concert Hall several times to see/hear different genres of music from ballet, to symphony, to jazz, and of course classical music, and during the holidays they give a great performance by their choir. Those of you who know me, know I love classical music and do have my favorite composers: Chopin, Vivaldi and Mozart. On Sunday, March 29th at 7:30pm my friend and I went to see Strauss, Bruch, & Moussa's elegant, classy performance that shook up the whole entire venue and the audience. It was just MAGNIFICENT! 10/10 The venue itself is STUNNING! Glamorous and easy to navigate all the aisles. Our seats were very comfortable and you can see the stage from any corner/angle since the theatre is not that big. Also has balcony seating. Tickets were $50 a piece not including tax. It has a beautiful gift shop, garden, different restaurants all around the building, and a small store where you can purchase some beverages and snacks. Overall, a GREAT performance and we both had a lovely time. Parking is $10 with few an entrances and few restrooms for both men & women. Thank you all for another AWESOME performance!! Will definitely return again next time I get a brochure or pamphlet in my mail.

The performance was even more amazing than we had imagined & so lively! Music | The LA Phil was incredible! The sounds of the different instruments, made a beautiful melody! The soft, beautiful, magical, fairytale-like sounds, as if butterflies are fluttering about were my favorite! I especially love the sound of the flutes! It was also incredible hearing the powerful, booming sounds, as the musicians played fiercely! It really stirred up excitement inside & made my heart race at times! Performance | Elim Chan & Masabane Rangwahasha | 100% fabulous! They were both incredible! It was amazing seeing a female conductor lead with so much passion, grace, as well as excitement! It's as if she was doing a beautiful yet powerful dance! Hearing the beautiful voice and talent radiating from Masabane, as she sang opera was mesmerizing! She stood confident, poised & proud and was a sight to be seen and heard! Walt Disney Concert Hall | Magical! I loved all of the curves and shapes of the building, both inside and outside, as well as the majestic shades and colors throughout! Drinks & Bites | I was excited to see refreshments, as I know, we were going to eat afterwards, but a light bite was perfect! I enjoyed a few bites of my chocolate brownie & my friend and I had a glass of red wine! Our bartender was awesome! I believe he was located on the fourth floor, personality plus, thanks again! Also, eating is only allowed in the lobby areas! Intermission | 15-20 Minutes! Overall | I'm super excited to return for future performances at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, as it truly was a magical experience!

The outer area is beautiful and has plenty of places to grab a pre-show meal. The lobby is nice and spacious and the overall layout of the waiting areas helps to alleviate large crowd in concentrated areas. Always love the seasons that CTG has as they are never the typical hot topic musicals, but they do great at giving light to musicals that are otherwise overlooked. Sound quality is always superb, and the seating is well laid out so that every seat gets a solid view of the stage no matter who is in front of you. I've always been a fan of how sets are done at Ahmanson-- no set parts ever seem lackluster, and set pieces coming from above or below always look nice and smooth. Also appreciate that ticket prices aren't as expensive here as other theaters. They may not always have the most popular musical, but they also have a great selection in their seasons regardless.

We went on the last night of this season which turned out great as it wasn't crazy busy and the tshirts were cheap! I had read some things that people were disappointed this year and that the experience was shorter and different from years previous but as I've never been I had nothing to reference so I enjoyed myself a lot. I don't want to go into too many details as to ruin the fun but there were some scares (nothing over the top), and it wasn't super crowded. And it was fun interacting with various characters and being in a small group. I really liked the behind the scenes tour that we got afterward, as the gentlemen who took us around was really knowledgable about the show and it was pretty neat to go behind the scenes and witness other people experiencing the show...we got a non-scary behind the curtain point of view. My hub and kid still enjoyed the experience even though it was different from years past. The gentleman explained that each location has its own set of complexities and things they do at one location might not be able to be done at another. Seemed on point to me. Looking forward to going with them again next year. It was really fun to be part of the show with my family. I really liked that they had a "hold your arm up policy" for the scaredy-cats like me. I went in knowing that I could hold my arm up and protect myself from the scary if it got too bad!! This experience is pricy for sure but I felt the set up and experience itself was on par with the cost. Someone has to pay all the actors and the rent. I liked going on the last day as it wasn't super crowded and we were able to enjoy everything. The VIP package was worth it for the behind the scenes tour. We could have also sat at VIP only places to have drinks but we had our kid with us so it wasn't that kind of night.

The VIP room was pretty empty as well. And you're not allowed to bring outside food or drink. Some shirts and hoodies for sale but pretty lackluster overall. Many people complained about the plot, but I went in with no expectations and had a good time. If you reframe it as you somehow fell into hell and need to escape, then you'll have a great time. Don't think too deeply. The actors, ambiance, decorations and room setups were well done. The ice room could've been colder with some dry ice. I do think it's pretty steep for a 35 minute escape maze and the behind the scenes was cool but short. The whole experience took us an hour, including bathroom breaks. I recommend going early because it seemed like the actors don't get a lot of breaks so I'm glad I got to see their more passionate acting when they're not tired yet. I think it's good to try once as a beginner but definitely more excited to try other productions like Willow.

The sounds, acoustics and everything are all dynamically set up by their amazing crew of technicians and staff. Custodians are on their toes keeping things clean around here as well. Security around here are very fair. They don't trip about moshers and stage divers as long as they keep things peaceful and fun! Huge plus! Parking can be a toss up, but that's normal and the price around here isn't bad. Lines usually wrap around the building and into the residential area nearby with peoples' houses. It's pretty damn funny, IMO. I was able to see NIIS, Scowl , Destroy Boys and other awesome bands here . Super chill, fun venue! It felt like a huge picnic under the LA sky. Bring your favorite snacks, food, blankets, and lawn chairs. They also have vendors selling food and drinks if you want to buy something there. The event is completely free--you just sign up for tickets in advance, which helps them gauge headcount. We did notice that a lot of the local restaurants close after business hours (around 5p) but there were a few food trucks out front. The open space, the vibe and the acoustics in the area were all such a vibe especially at night! My advice would be to follow grand performance on Instagram and catch one of these summer free concerts with the family, if possible. Make sure to bring a jacket because it does get a little chilly and windy when the sun goes down. As far as parking goes, we parked at the Broad Museum's parking structure on 2nd street for $19. They close their garage at 10:30p so make sure to give yourself about $15 minutes to walk a block to the garage before they close. Overall, I highly recommend checking out a concert here. It was such a great experience and my kids had a blast! This is such a great place for the community. Also note that the historic Angels Flight Railway Trolly is within walking distance and that will take down to the Grand Central Marketplace. The huge courtyard with giant fountain spans the three theatres there -- the Mark Taper, the Ahmanson (both for plays and musicals), and the mighty Dorothy Chandler (for opera and ballet). It's massive! We were there for the new Philip Glass opera, ancient Egypt's Akhnaten. Lots of Queen Nefertiti cosplay so it's worth getting there early for the people watching. Seats are impossibly pricey, so it may be a one-time thing but I'd say worth it. Our front row seats (but on the side so you miss a tiny, tiny bit of the stage) were about $200 each. The Dorothy Chandler is huge so you may need your (appropriately named) opera glasses if you're up in the hinterland. For most operas, there are "supertitles" above the stage which translate what you're watching. Robbie Yelp tip on food -- the sit-down restaurants on and adjacent to the plaza are super pricey. Instead, do this: the Mullin Wine Bar is right there on the pavilion. For two to share, get one pizza and one charcuterie plate. Both are delicious and filling; that's $50. Add drinks and you're getting close to a hundo, but it is what it is. Take your food and drinks out into the plaza for people watching until the opera bell rings. O sole mio!

It had a huge and so talented cast and it was perfect. The music was scored by Philip Glass and the BBC conductor did this one and she was amazing. It is a little pricy for good seats and I wish they had some decent seats, not in the last row of the balcony, that are more reasonably priced. Parking if you are in a normal care is easy. You can valet for a fee of about 20$ or park right across from the valet in the parking structure for a lot less and you just take the elevator and you will be in the middle of the pavilion. If you are in a large truck you will have a hard time finding a parking space. You will note the Dorothy Chandler because it is the big white one. The pavilion also houses the Mark Taper, which is a great place to see new plays and the Ahmanson, which for the most part has great musicals, but again, the repeats are too much. Their used to be great dinning there as it is pretty much the heart of Downtown LA, but the eateries there have really gotten bad, so eat elsewhere. It is beautiful and clean inside. The staff really needs to work on helping people find their seats and not just pointing. Get there on time. Have a great night.
