The chips are no longer cooked in the same oil with the chicken they are cooked in their own dedicated gluten free place and brought fresh to the store and they are tasty and crispy. I tried carnitas, sweet carnitas, shredded chicken, grilled chicken, potatoes with queso, chips and guac and all were fantastic and very fresh. We got the carnitas nachos and I totally recommend. He also mentioned they don't cook the non pork meat with pork fat because some people avoid pork completely. They are very careful for allergies and meal preferences there. Stopped in today after driving by for far too long. Relatively new addition to the area, in the old Herfy's space. I'll start by mentioning what exactly this place is and what's it's not because a couple reviews seem to compare it to something it really isn't. This is basically your typical Chipotle, Qdoba, Taco Del Mar, Baja Fresh type restaurant where you go down the line building your order as you go. Choose to build your own burrito, a bowl, tacos, a quesadilla, a salad or nachos. Choose each "topping" to create your own meal. I went with a bowl, because I'm all about just piling it all in there and not fussing with a tortilla. just give me a fork and leave me alone. The staff let me sample every meat they offer before I settled on Carnitas. I'm a sucker for pulled pork, so they pretty much had me there. But I will say that the steak is also very good. I was surprised to see an order of chips as a side with my meal, the other joints don't do that. Guac was $1 extra, but that's fine with me. Another pleasant surprise was the salsa bar. Not a huge offer there, just the red or green and some wax peppers and limes. But it was enough to make me happy. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. More than willing to give samples and answer any questions. They genuinely cared about what we thought and seemed attentive. The place is clean as well, which is another big thing. I'm always surprised how some joints can't clean up tables or sweep the floor. Not a problem here. This is not a "table-service" authentic Mexican restaurant, so if that's what you are looking for, keep driving. But if you're looking for a fast-casual Mexican offering in this area then this is your place. Over by the section where you get your drinks you can also get a couple kinds of sauces for chip dipping or to top your burrito with as well as some peppers too. The customer service was the best I've had in a very long time!!! Food was not bad for a fast food option. Its the subway of Mexican fast food, build your own tacos, burritos or bowls. I live around the corner from this place and I would drive by it at least twice a day. I finally decided that I wanted a good burrito and didn't want fast food, so I stopped in tonight. I am so incredibly glad that I did! Both of the gentlemen behind the counter were very welcoming and kind. Since it was my first time, we were given samples to try to help decide what kind of meat I wanted. They have four different varieties of tortillas for burritos, over five choices of meat with different flavors, a variety of salsas and toppings. It reminded me of Qdoba but I believe that this place is so much better!!!! And they aren't expensive and definitely not fast food (thank goodness). The food is fresh and the dining area is very clean and has a cute setup. Also they have a punch card and every 9th visit you get something for free! Before my son and I left, one of the gentleman working (I am so sorry I don't remember your names) told us about an initiative that they are working on with the library. And every book that a child reads and gets notated by the librarian, that child will earn one free taco tray! **My visit was pre-Covid, my review is distastefully late** What a great find! We don't know this area well but like to come down with the kids to visit the petting zoo and are often hungry afterwards. However, I have some food allergies (gluten & dairy) that make it a little harder to find a safe place to eat that won't make me sick. I usually use the Find Me Gluten Free app in conjunction with yelp to find a safe (and good) spot but the FMGF app didn't have great results for the immediate area, so we chose Pico de Gallo as it was close by and had a good looking menu. So I've been to this place several times with friends and we love it. Although all the toppings are sitting in these containers (temperature controlled) everything is fresh. My friend asked for El pastor meat but they were out, the server briefly went to the kitchen and the chef brought out a hot fresh batch of delicious el pastor meat out. The tortillas are thrown on a hot iron before serving. They also have their signature banana pudding which was way too sweet for my taste but my friends loved it. The horchata is also very good.
