    a menu for a mexican restaurant

    What a surprise visit! Their food was was exceeded my expectations. Great flavor and quality with reasonably priced.

    Quesabirria Tacos. These were really delicious.

    Pico De Gallo is a carry out Mexican restaurant in New Lenox that features counter service with about 6 tables to sit at. Unlike the city, which features an authentic Mexican restaurant like this one on every block, I'm guessing Pico De Gallo is a stand-out in this area because of the surrounding demographic. There is certainly nothing wrong with this spot. The menu is relatively conservative and features the standards - tacos, burritos, tortas, sopes and a few entrees - carne asada, quesabirria tacos, etc... My wife ordered the quesabirria tacos - which were served with consume - and also a side of rice. I ordered two chicken tacos, served "authentic style" with onions and cilantro. The food is freshly prepared, so there was a slight wait, but nothing to complain about. My wife's quesabirria tacos were loaded with pot roast and cheese, and the consume was not overly salty or greasy. They were definitely delicious. My chicken tacos were just okay. I work on/around 73rd and Cicero, so I've had my fair share of really good tacos. While there was nothing wrong with my tacos, they were just bland. Their hot sauce was good (not great), and I wound up using a whole container on my tacos to give them some flavor. I was really on the fence about giving Pico De Gallo 4 or 3 stars, but the decision for 3 stars was made after looking at our receipt. $35 dollars for our lunch was a little steep. My tacos were $5/ea and my wife's quesabirria tacos were $16. That didn't include rice or beans. Again, maybe I'm biased because of all the tacos spots I hit around work that offer a superior product for a third of the cost. I'm sure the owners of Pico De Gallo did their homework on where they were opining their restaurant, and the cost of their food is most definitely a result of what their market will support. In other words... the folks in New Lenox probably don't blink an eye at spending $5 dollars for a taco. Truth be told, I wouldn't have minded either if my chicken tacos were bigger and/or tastier.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Updated Review~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I wanted to updated this review as we have catered a small party using Pico De Gallo. The catering was top notch. Again, the service was awesome and the food fantastic. We ordered the chicken fajitas, flour tortillas, guacamole, chips and salsa. We had plenty of food and had many compliments. We will definitely cater again from Pico. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Previous Review~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This may be our new favorite restaurant! Upon arrival we were pleasantly greeted by the staff. They were very patient and informative as we asked our many questions. We ordered chicken fajitas, a king burrito, cheese quesadilla, Mexican potatoes, chips and salsa and two large drinks. Our bill total was $45. The food was plentiful and was delicious. The salsa we so good we ordered some to go. The restaurant was quite busy so I think the secret out!
    My daughter and I went here for the first time as a lunch date. We both got the "authentic tacos" and guacamole/chips as an appetizer. Everything was freshly made. The guac and chips are delicious. For their lunch menu the portions were very large. The food and homemade sauces were very good! They're red hot sauce was unique it almost tasted like there was tamarind in it. The place is a bit on the small side and not conducive to "hanging out" it's more of a pick up order spot than an eat in.
    Steak tacos and guacamole were really good the first time. The second time the steak seemed more like a pulled pork consistency than chopped chucks of steak.
    Menu as of 6-10.
    Food is decent but my god is it expensive for what you get. 4 house tacos and a side of rice for nearly 24 bucks.
It has about what is expected which is margaritas along with burritos and tacos. Good enough. The prices are kind of high for being average as well as portions. Big restaurant with lots of room for groups. It's got a bar area along with the rest of it. There was more than enough space as there was hardly anyone in it though. Even with it being in the evening. We were the only ones at first then a few more came later. A few pretty good things here. It's about $11 for a margarita. Got the Prickly Pear and it was pretty good. They at least use strong tequila. It's about $16 for a burrito. We each got the Veggie Burrito, which is one of the few options without any meat. Comes with cheese and crema which I left off, but still had enough in it. There were beans, lettuce, and tomatoes and it came with beans and rice. For sure it's pretty okay for Americanized Mexican food. It's not authentic but it's still way better than Taco Bell junk. There's many other restaurants around here with the same kind of food at better prices meaning we aren't in a hurry to get back here soon.
The interior is modern, festive, and inviting, with a lively bar and an open, clean layout. Right off the bat, we were treated to complimentary chips and salsa, and let me tell you--this might have been the highlight of the night. The salsa was bursting with flavor (hands down the best I've had at any Mexican restaurant), and the chips were clearly fresh, not just poured from a bag. For drinks, we tried the Santo Horchata and the Coconut Margarita. Both were strong, balanced, and refreshing--no watered-down cocktails here. We ordered a spread of dishes to really test the menu: Tortilla Soup, a Chicken Burrito Bowl, and five different tacos--Al Pastor, Crispy Pork Belly, Shrimp & Chorizo, Tajin & Agave Chicken, and Carne Asada. * The Tortilla Soup was immaculate--rich, flavorful, and carrying just the right kick of spice. * The Chicken Burrito Bowl was generous and far superior in quality compared to chain restaurants trying to do the same thing. * And the tacos? Worth the hype. Here's how I'd rank them: 1. Crispy Pork Belly - an unexpected standout, tender and packed with flavor, elevated even more by the sauce. 2. Tajin & Agave Chicken - no wonder this one won Best Taco. 3. Shrimp & Chorizo - unique and hearty. 4. Carne Asada - solid and flavorful. 5. Al Pastor - tasty, but outshined by the others. All in all, Don Joses is easily the best Mexican restaurant we've had in New Lenox. From the atmosphere and service to the unforgettable chips & salsa, strong drinks, and outstanding food, this spot is a 10/10 must-try.
Whippersnapper - Nice flavor combo, but ask for extra passion fruit slaw or pineapple to step up the pow a bit! Island Boy - Too spicy, but kinda in a nice way. It was yummy but also a little too much on the tongue. Chips were hot and fresh. Complimentary salsa was chunky and maybe not worth the space in my tummy. Service was top notch. Parking was easy.     #23/2024 El Cortez…read moreOnce a great spot yrs ago at its original location bringing many to Blue Island IL and it's only place However times change, neighborhoods change and they did not and closed. Was that it? No. They just moved further south about a 1/2 hr to Country Club Hills and restablished themselves They also had a older location in a very old building on Wolf Road in Orland Park Fast forward to 2024. Wolf Rd location been gone many yrs now relocated about 15 minutes south into Mokena. Reestablished themselves again CC Hills still remains. Now not located in a single building there in a strip mall at Mokena They have a little outdoor eating area but you're pretty much right there is traffic was just behind in front along the sidewalk of customers going to other buildings And it's been through its changes pretty much before and after covid. Some good some bad reviews reflect. Staffing can still be a little bit of an issue may have to wait a little bit depending on time of day and crowds. One thing that changed though for me is although it's probably been many many years until a couple of weeks ago till I returned for the first time and I returned again. The margaritas are still excellent. The food is still prepared fresh and very good as far as I'm concerned I originally came in with the folks about 2 weeks ago and had a strawberry daiquiri which was okay and a delicious carne asada. A little thinner skirt steak but the quality was good. However what dinners I give you french fries which was very unique they were very tasty. And tortillas also. Andrew usual garnish of lettuce tomato rice and beans. You have to ask for sour cream it's a little extra. Returning almost 2 weeks later passing through I decided it was Taco Tuesday let's hit it up again. I started with a large margarita 26 oz it was very good quality was good wasn't too strong but just right I also went with the three taco dinner and did two and one two corn one flour. They said that would be fine I did request no onions in the meat though they will do that by request. So the food came out and it was very good the beef was nice and fresh had little potato on it which was kind of made it unique but good. Lettuce and tomato I asked for some extra sour cream and also an extra order of refried beans cuz they're really good. Definitely will come back really enjoyed it again it's nice to know that their quality is back up to par. It was probably close to over 10 years ago when I was at the Old Wolf Road location and it was kind of hit and miss. But keep up the good work. Reviews here should be a little bit on Yelp as far as I'm concerned it was pretty crowded after dinner there when I left most people seem to be very much enjoying their food.
    Absolutely Insane. Ordered the Chicken quesadillas and there was a HUGE bone in it. Not happy.read more
