I came back this weekend to play a Singles DUPR round robin there and am thrilled at how this place has really turned the corner and improved the pickleball experience it offers, which arguably is the most well-rounded in DFW: Open plays, lessons, leagues, DUPR Nights (Singles and Doubles), Senior open plays, corporate/private parties, and court reservation options. Coach Will ran our DUPR event, and his customer engagement was tremendous, starting from the second I walked in the door. He really took interest in my questions and comments and offered some tips to the group throughout the event, which was a complete turnaround from the lackluster effort the last time I played a Singles event there. I was really happy to see that DiP has resurfaced most of its courts, and they look and feel fantastic. The paint job with the sponsor logo in the kitchen offers a pro tournament vibe, and they established some barriers to keep ball interruptions to a minimum. I have always walked away from a DiP programming event feeling the players were competitive and fun to meet, and that continues to be the standard there - I've never been disappointed in the play on the court or the social interactions. While it isn't the easiest location for me to get to, I will definitely make the extra effort and am also excited to check out the new Grand Prairie location once DiP is able to build some awareness about it.

I love Preston Playhouse - it's a really cool rec center offering pickleball, padel and a bar to relax for work events and family/friend get-togethers. In DFW there are what I call "Pickleball Operations" and "Places That Offer Pickleball." Unfortunately where I am in the game, Preston Placehouse is more of a "Place That Offers Pickleball" - which isn't what I'm looking for but may be great for you. The courts are colorful and (mostly) in great shape and the spacing is pretty good. They have morning ($10) and evening ($15) open plays which isn't the most expensive in town but not the cheapest. The Open Plays are All Levels, so a bit of a gamble in terms of the quality of player you will find. Last night I found some really good ones but there weren't many. When I first went there there were more, but it seems like they may be choosing places like Pickler Universe and The Picklr. Preston Playhouse though is a fun atmosphere and great place to bring friends or your own group but it's not a pickleball community focused on ramping up competition or teaching skills and it doesn't try to be.

There were over 100(?) pickleball courts hosting a range of youth and professional athletes for the world championship weekend. Countless vendor stands, samples, food trucks, outdoor games, you name it! I loved seeing the kids having a fabulous time with their parents cheering them on the sidelines. Wrong and incomplete items were delivered. Staff was visibly confused on basic meal delivery despite an approved plan. This wasn't a small mistake--it was a breakdown in operations. Bar service didn't match what was contracted for almost 2 hours, adding to the issues. The worst part was the response: no real accountability, blame shifted to details like name cards, and a token refund that didn't come close to addressing the impact. Go elsewhere or risk ruining an important milestone. We will never darken their door again.

It's super easy to get in and out of the parking lot which has plenty of parking. This gym has more of a luxe ambiance with it being a newer build and lighter colors. The women's dressing room has an ample amount of lockers. There are 5 toilet stalls which don't seem like enough but I never had an issue. There's another 2 stall restroom upstairs on the gym floor. In the women's locker room, for women only, is the spa experience with a hot whirlpool, cold plunge, sauna, and steam room. This is the most important one for me because I absolutely hate the co-Ed amenities in the other locations, such as Plano, Allen, ands Flower Mound. I could literally spend an hour or more here just relaxing. The 25 minute drive makes it totally worth it. The sinks and counters in the women's locker room are two huge areas with plenty of space for ladies to wash hands or beautify themselves in the mirror. Lifetime provides razors, makeup remover, Q-tips, & other items. Further down, there is a large room with two rows of showers. Maybe about 20? In the showers, they have shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and shaving cream. The water pressure is perfect and you can make it as warm or cold as you like. Large towels are provided and so are small ones for anything else like the gym floor. The Life Café is huge! There is plenty of seating and lots of options for food and snacks. Behind the front desk is the stairs and elevator to go upstairs. As you go up the stairs, you can immediately see how this is a Luxe gym with the beautiful chandelier above the stairs. Once at the top is the GTX room with a divider. This room is kept a little dark, which I prefer to the brightly lit gym floor. Opposite of that room is the gym floor with all the machines and equipment in an open floor concept. The massage chairs and recovery station is to the far right and up into another room. The Pickleball courts are closed in and always full. The pilates and barre room are off to one side and then there is a cycle studio and another studio on the other end. I love that the alpha section has mirrors in front of the racks with the barbell. I still haven't seen the outdoor pool, I know it's on the roof or something. I still need to check it out. I've seen the indoor one, which is your standard lap pool. This gym gets super busy during rush hour so plan accordingly.

In many areas, the club shines - its strength and conditioning equipment, instructors, and health programming are unmatched and, most importantly, I've met great people. As good as the club is, and no doubt, great things are happening there, it's really expensive - and the last several months I have constantly been questioning if I should be paying what I do. I mentioned in my first review in July I felt the club was slipping. No question I have, and deserve to have, the highest expectations for this place but that comes from them. They promise us an "athletic country club" experience and charge for it - so I expect them to deliver. Over the last year, this club has been dealing with a serious member trend related to its big ticket item - the men's rejuvenation suite in the locker room, consisting of a hot tub, cold plunge, dry sauna, and wet sauna. Quite often, it's a wreck - as are other sections of the locker room. Wet towels and trash crumpled on the floor and in seating areas and in corners around this section of the club. There's sludge on sections of the floor at night after the big rush. Many of the men members of this club are acting like slobs - and Life Time isn't keeping up. I feel like the maintenance crew tries hard, but I've also seen them blow past the suite without even sticking their head in for a status check - as if they have other priorities than one of their biggest competitive advantages when it comes to amenities. I really feel like Life Time without this is mostly a four- or five-star facility - but this issue knocks it down several pegs. It's exhausting.

There's plenty of space between courts and barriers between courts so that errant balls are few. The space is well lit and the temperature is just right. There were not many courts in use at the time I was there, but it did seem that the sounds were minimized. The set up is really nice for events also with adjacent large conference or party rooms and 2nd floor seating. The bathrooms are nice and there's showers as well (I did not check them out). Water and Gatorade are available for purchase. Coffee and tea are complimentary. A bonus is the pro, Aaron Tom, who I know from a different club. He's a solid coach, very knowledgeable and encouraging. The front desk staff are also very friendly. So glad for this indoor option!

Beautiful court. Friendly staff…read more I have zero experience playing tennis and met Coach Fred Shlesinger by chance. I happened to call on my day off and Coach Fred got back to me immediately. He was able to get me a private lesson that afternoon! He has been teaching for over 30 years. He has a lot of experience and a ton of patience with me! Lessons are always fun. He plays upbeat music and is able to explain skills in different ways so I can better understand my approach. Picking up a new hobby is difficult but I'm glad I have Fred as my coach. He has provided me with a ton of tips! 10/10 would recommend him to my friends and family.
