The 2026 Fredericksburg Comic Con was held the weekend of July 11-12, 2026. I procured a ticket online for Saturday admission (July 11). The ticket is then e-mailed to you and you can add to your digital wallet (Apple Wallet or Google Wallet) depending on your choice of smart phone. I arrived about noon - walked up to the registration desk, they scanned my digital ticket, and put a wrist band on me. Lots of cool stuff to check out - comic books galore, all sorts of comic book and other figurines, art work, games, and more! I purchased several sets of D&D dice from "Michi Made Boutique" and met the owner - a very nice lady named Michelle Yarmer-Smith. There is also a row of tables along one wall where one can meet various celebrities and get a photo with them. They had a couple of retired Pro Wrestlers, plus comic book artists and more. Lots of Cosplayers were roaming about - a lot of Marvel, DC, and anime characters! There was also a food area - with food and drinks available for purchase. Overall, a pretty good selection of fun stuff! My one criticism of the event - it was really hot out that day - and the AC inside was not keeping up inside. A couple of the vendors told me it was because the organizers kept the doors open in the area where the vendors would offload and bring in their stuff. I don't know if that is true - but it was really uncomfortable inside - and I would have stayed longer if it were more comfortable inside. #FredericksburgComicCon

Nate loves birds, so we stopped in while in the area just browsing the shops. Wren and Sparrow is pretty packed for a smaller shop - they had lots of great items for any bird enthusiast, including gifts, puzzles, lots of bird food, plenty of feeders, including lots that were made of recycled plastic, which I loved, and more. I liked the informational signs that said which birds like which feed. Nate ended up getting a hummingbird feeder ring, kind of as a joke, but also I know he really wishes a hummingbird would land on his hand! The employees working were really helpful - the one who rang up this purchase gave some tips on getting them to land, like wearing lots of red and putting on sunglasses so the hummingbirds can't see your eyes moving, which may deter them! The last thing I noticed is that they had a soundtrack of birdsongs playing throughout the store, which I really liked. Our local bird store is always silent, which I think is so weird!

In fact, he works so quickly, that we have trouble staying ahead of him. So far, we have had him do granite in two bathrooms, and are going to hire him to do another bathroom and the kitchen. One of the best things about him is also his ability to help pick the stone to match your room. My husband and I are able to narrow it down to a light or dark stone, but beyond that, we need help. His workers are clean, quick, and highly professional. Dennys, the owner, is good at communicating with us about scheduling and stone options. I wish I could hire them to do more.

The tile back splash he installed in my kitchen was cracked when they installed the tiles. The quote I received felt vague, with very little detail about what was actually included, and when I asked follow-up questions, I didn't get straight answers. Scheduling was also a hassle. Dates seemed to change depending on who I spoke to, which didn't give me much confidence in their reliability. On top of that, the overall tone from customer service felt rushed and uninterested, like they didn't really care about earning my business. In the end, I decided to go with another company that was more transparent and professional. Based on this experience alone, I wouldn't feel comfortable trusting them with an actual move.

When we hung the curtains and put on the duvet cover, my husband and I just kind of walked around stunned for a while, saying "Is this really our bedroom or are we in some fancy bed-and-breakfast?" I have one huge window that I couldn't go off-the-shelf with so I decided to go to a custom drapery shop. I checked locally and the prices were prohibitive ($4800 for 3 window treatments). I found these guys online and gave them a call. Kelly was great in helping me decide what I wanted and sent free swatches for me to look at. When I decided on a fabric, she walked me through how to measure (not an easy thing to do) and placing the order. Two weeks later, my new drapes arrived and I couldn't be happier with them! The best part was that they were about half the cost of getting them locally and now I have custom drapes that fit my windows and decor perfectly. The only drawback is that, with shipping, the drapes do arrive wrinkled but nothing that a little steam didn't fix. Everyone I spoke to was knowledgeable, responsive and helpful. Highly recommended
