The bathrooms were not the cleanest nor was the lake water as my son left with a stomach bug the next day. The parking lot is a bit of a hike to get to the lake and picnic areas. I highly recommend using a wagon to transport food and drinks. Or you can have somebody pull up in the handicapped parking loop to drop off party supplies.

There are some smaller areas for smaller children. There is this really neat contraption that my son calls the Spider, with ropes for climbing. And there's a zip-line that's pretty nifty too. Baseball games can still be caught on the other side of the park. Plenty of benches and picnic tables for parents to watch the games while still keeping an eye on the kids. The other review is pretty old. This place isn't really secluded anymore and it definitely stays busy!

During the summer it's the best time to just lay out in the sun and swim in the heated pool. You must be nude to swim in the pool. I've always found the locals and residents at the park to be warm and helpful. There is a full covered kitchen available for anyone to cook in and eat at the picnic tables just outside. Being publicly nude seems strange at first but that soon goes away. No one cares what you look like, just who you are and they are willing to get to know you. A couple of years ago they built three small cottages next to the restroom/shower facility. They are called the "Birdcages". All three use the established facilities so it is a bit strange but worth the place to stay at a very reasonable price. I plan on going back there for my annual summer "migration" to the park. It's worth calling them at 425-392-6833 and talk about any concerns. They are very professional and concerned about your privacy. Cross it off your bucket list if for no other reason.

They have benches to sit down and enjoy the view and food. The cafe is next to the restrooms and showers. The cafe is also under an overhang. There is a parking lot located next to the cafe. It is a short walk to get there but you can see the cafe from the parking lot if you park next to the park. There are other parking lots located in the area. You will have to take the path or cut across the trail to get to the cafe. It is not visible from the other parking lots. I thought it was a great way to end our day. There is also a playground next to the cafe if the kids need to run off some more energy.

I didn't even check out the other half of the park this time since I was so occupied with this loop (which I'm obsessed with by the way haha), but it looked like there were children's playgrounds, soccer fields, and more. This park was way larger than expected and it looks like I'll be a frequent visitor now, so I'm sure I'll check out the other half of the park very soon.

You can take your dog, family or out of town visitors to show them the beauty of our forested natural neighborhood without them being overwhelmed. I personally loved trail running when I was younger and would go out most days . Now I mostly hike or walk the trail to take a break from working remote. I feel lucky to have this beautiful gem so close by! Beware on weekends in nice weather the parking fills up quickly, but you can usually find a spot most weekdays.

Trails are well maintained and clearly marked. Please stay on them! Yes, there are some fun caves that are left over from the mines, no I will not tell you where they are, because they are extremely dangerous and you never know when there's going to be a problem. Either way, it's a great place to go as far (or not) as you'd like. Parking can get a little crazy depending on which trailhead you're aiming for and it's good to come earlier in the day. Also keep in mind that Cougar Mountain isn't just some cute, random name. Know what wildlife lives here, how to handle yourself, and remember that you're the trespasser.
