I went recently with one of my homies, on their website it said they got a Miata 2 days ago, when I got to the yard it had a date on it that was over 2 months ago. None of the cars are organized, everything was just scattered around, I recommend the Monrovia location. Sun valley location is a disappointment Update, decided to give them a second chance and change my review, when I saw they had just received a 350z that day. I go to the lot, pay 3 bucks to get in, another 2 dollars to get into the "primo" lot, only to find there was a shell remaining, I look on the rear panel and it says they had the car since January. Have been going to this location for over 10 years, mostly because it's the closest location to my house. It's great that the cars to pick and pull parts from are listed online, so you can check what cars they have before heading over. I went today and was helped at the parts counter by Donte. He was patient, answered my questions and was friendly. Just about all of my other visits to LKQ Pick Your Part locations resulted in being served by someone who clearly doesn't like their job, as they are usually unfriendly and get annoyed when you ask about pricing or have questions. Donte was helpful, as today was my first time buying a rim (it had a tire on it that I didn't want to buy). He told me how the process worked, by first paying the tire removal fee, then taking the tire/rim and my receipt to the tire guy, then coming back to the window to pay for the rim. Never in all my years of going to any Pick Your Part location have I been served by anyone with such great customer service skills as Donte. I would check places like Craig's lists, offer up, eBay and such before coming here. The prices are pretty similar so why lug around a tool box and do all the work if you don't need to? The last. Lille times I've been there I had to ask my self that. With the core charges and other fees it makes no sense. They charge you for every little thing they can. I tried to buy a carburetor with missing parts last week to use as parts for another one I have and someone already cut up the dried up rubber hoses so I didn't take them off. When I went to pay the lady at the counter wanted to charge me extra for them. I told her to keep it then. for $80 I can go get one anywhere and a rebuilt one for a bit more. I don't think I'll be going back any more. you can't expect your customers to come back when you Nickel and dime every thing especially when they have to do all the work. Long story short don't shop here they rip off your money and have no idea what they are doing. Corporate needs to check them or even the better business bureau. So where do I start? So I went to the lkq location in sun valley because it was the closet junk yard to me. The day I went was on 5/29/17. Keep in mind that it was %40 off, so of coarse why not go and get a engine for my truck. Online the price states that it would be 102.49 plus a 35 core for an engine block does state whether a long block or short block those have a different price. The engine I was getting was a 3.9l v6. So we get there and start looking only found one truck with the same engine I needed. That was fine we pulled it out took my dad and myself all day to do this. We get to the long lines at 3. We figured it's normal because they are having a 40% sale. Once we get to the front of the line to the cashier she says "what did you get" I said " that engine block sitting over their it's a v6 3.9l." So she calls a supervisor to check what kind of engine block. He just looks through the window that the cashier is at and he says it's a long block. My dad and my self tell her how is that a long block it's only the block no heads or accessory on the block. She states that's the price they are charging today they are sorting the engine all as long blocks. So we are arguing back and forth till finally she calls the supervisor over again. His name was Cruz some short old Hispanic man. He says take it or leave it the price is $180 plus the core that's another 45$. I tell him how is this %40 off. He explained how regular price the ending is over $300 dollars so that's how they cut the price to $180. At this point I said then why are the prices only line different the girl says those are online prices we don't do online prices here. So we were done just wanted to go home at this point after a very long day. So I asked for the total and she tells me is it's 215.73 I said okay. Keep in mind she never asked me if I wanted warranty. She slides my card and on my receipt it says no warranty. I asked her nicely can you just charge me separately for the warranty she says no. So she has to do a complete refund just to put the warranty on the same receipt. I paid with my debit card she card me as credit never even asked once again. So she gives me back the refund receipt. Them charges me for warranty and the original price. Now the total was over $250 and this was suppose to be 40% off. She goes to charge me and my debit card gets declined. I asked wait where is my money for my refund she tells me to call my credit card company and ask them. I never even used a credit card it was my debit card. She tells me to wait 3 days then come back for the engine when you have the funds to buy the engine. I ask for a supervisor he says well your out of luck you don't have any money oh well that's your problem. So we left with no engine after being there all day. Horrible place people do not know what they are doing management is horrible supervisors are horrible. I will never shop here again. I would give negative stars if I could. read more

This is the absolute worst yard I've been to. First walking in to get charged $3 you think you won't have to spend the extra $2 to get into another yard within the yard itself. Like why even charge twice. Then you spend an hour finding what your looking for just to be hit with a ridiculous price walking out. I came for a plastic housing for my dashboard cluster and they want to charge me $50 for a piece of plastic because they "charge for the entire cluster" there's no point in a salvage yard if you can't get what you need down to the spec. This LKQ location is really bad now, i've had some decent experiences here in the past but not anymore. I went today looking for a few parts for my Scion. I found the part i was looking for (bottom antenna base) which turned out to be partially broken might i add. Went to go pay for the part and the cashier told me it was going to be $31... I tried to get some type of discount since it was partially broken but he wouldn't budge. Ended up leaving it in the huge pile of unwanted parts by the window. I wish this place would haggle with their prices, there are so many parts left behind because of their ridiculous prices.. My engine went bad on me and gave up trying to keep it alive. Call LKQ for a quote on my little RAV4, they gave me two quotes. One if they picked it up from my house and other if I drove it to them. Once you get the car there there is a zone where you need to park it for inspection. You then go to there window office and fill out some paperwork, after that they have someone inspect your vehicle to see if it matches to what you have described to them over the phone, once they check it off you go back to there office and get your check. Overall the experience wasn't too bad. It is a Junkyard so it gets busy and they are trying to move as fast as they can. read more

This is probably the worst experience I have had going here. I purchased 4 wheels that are supposed to be staggered. The tire were mounted wrong and I ended up with three rear wheel and one front wheel. When I went to return the wheels they would not except a return, not even an exchange for the correct front wheel. It's completely unfair business practice. On top of that no one offered me a warranty nor did I see "signs" for final sale, which they claim are posted everywhere. I shouldn't need a warranty to exchange or return a part especially with in the 30-day "return period" they claim to have. Warranties are in case the product is faulty they will fix or replace. My situation is that the part won't fit. I will not be coming here again and I do not recommend that you go here. Find a new junkyard that has better business practices. You can search online to see if your vehicle match and part is there. Luckily mine was and I purchased a new speaker cover, minus the crack mine had. I was having trouble locating such a specific piece online. This took 10 min & $10. Plus, the drive over. Warning. Waste of time if you car is less than 10 years old. If part is what you need, it will be gone by the time you get there. If it is what you don't need, it will be picked off by resellers already. (Note that the staff here pulls high demand parts too to sell separately - see below) LOCATION: Industrial area off of Glenoaks. Huge lot. STAFF: Not helpful. Will double charge you admission if you have a newer/late model car since newer cars are in the "Primo" section. Will search your toolbox or belongings after you leave. ENVIRONMENT: Cement lot, not dirt which is nice. All cars on support blocks so you can get under them. Most of the cars are from the 80s to 90s and were crap to begin with. Resellers - not people actually needing the part - have already stripped the most desirable parts that can sell easily or retain value (Mirrors, Catalytic Converters, Wheels, Airbags, Headlight assemblies) and have damaged the interior while pulling airbags and stereos. Cars are sorted by Import, Domestic and Primo. Primo = more common or desirable cars (BMW 3 series, Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Domestic Rental fleet type cars) that are so stripped by the time you get there, it is only a bare chassis in several cases. Note once you pay $2 to get in, you pay another $2 to go to Primo. When going into the Primo section, you walk through a turnstyle and past the cashier who has parts for sale behind them on a wall. What parts? Very good condition, in demand OEM parts for popular cars (e.g. Honda & Lexus stereos, tailights, grills etc.) being sold at higher prices than advertised on the website. What's the point of coming here to try and get a deal if these jerks already picked off some of the best stuff to sell themselves rather than let a first come, first served method be in place? SUMMARY: 5% Hit, 95% Miss. Stick to eBay, Craigslist or Car Forums. read more

It's a big junk yard with a couple thousand cars propped up in the air and their hoods all open so people can get at 'em. Seems like 95% from the mid 80's thru mid 90's, nothing really "OLD" old. There are no hidden gems here, not even close. My only real problemo with the joint was when I gave them a $5 bill to get in they gave me back $2 in nickels for change. I have not been there in years until recently. WOW what a change and nightmare it has become. First things first: ANY and ALL tools you bring in make sure you have them engraved or marked with an obvious identifying mark! Not just initials but something that PROVES it's yours! When leaving the wannabe TSA employee tried to claim my torque wrench was theirs! I told them to call the Police and sat down to wait. They let me leave 5 minutes later probably after LAPD told them to pound sand and would not come. Now the experience: When I walked in I told the clerk I needed a passenger door armrest for an F350 in Red and asked if they might have one. I was harshly told that there are millions of parts and she did not know. Pay the 2 bucks and go see. OK, fun time is about to start! I had read some of the recent reviews and knew it was not going to be the way it once was so I did a reviewer a solid! I brought $3.27 in pennies. (After all no bills over 20) is all the sign says and pennies are legal tender. I dropped them on the counter and explained there was more than 2 bucks, she would need to count it because "I need prescription glasses and only brought my safety glasses." Worked like a charm. Once inside I looked, I dug and after over hour of no love I went to leave only to be introduced to the guy that is going to look through my tool box. (Mr Torque wrench) As I sat and waited for the Police I notice there suddenly is the exact part I am looking for sitting behind the counter. When I offer to buy already pulled part, "That's for a customer. It's already sold." Really? Alrighty. hope you made 5 or 6 bucks on the part because I won't be back and would have gone 20 just to get it. Go around the corner. Good bye, Classic car. I had a '90 Volvo 240DL. It was awesome until it wasn't. Pick Your Part was a new concept to me, towing away your car that doesn't work, and paying you $250 for it. They were very nice over the phone, I was able to set up the tow/purchase after a phone inquiry of the process and a follow up phone call they made to see if I was still interested in selling it (maybe two days later). Here's the area of opportunity that I hope my fellow consumers avoid: When I spoke with Pick Your Part a third time, to arrange the tow and purchase, my quote changed $225. When I inquired why there was a difference in price after 3 days, I was told, "That's just the price." Since the car needed to be out of my life, I accepted their changed offer. I guess it was worth an extra $25 to them because I called back. That makes sense right? I do have a theory, that the amount of times I called was recorded, and knowing that they keep dropping the price because they know you will sell anyway. Just be cautious, as they have proved to me, that they'd rather take $25 from me (having no idea if I really need that or not) because they can, no other reason. Other than an extremely questionable morale compass, I'd recommend them. They were efficient, and I'm hoping my car [parts] finds a good home. read more

ORIGINAL REVIEW: If I can give this junkyard 0 star, I would. I haven't been to this place in 2 years, so I gave it another try, due to some of the positives reviews. Not to mention it was 1/2 off weekend. Boy have things changed...for the worst Foremost, if you are into pre-1995 trucks and imports, this is the junk yard for you. If you are into pre-1995 Ford/GM vehicles or anything post-1995, DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT COMING HERE. The yard used to have 5 sections (left to right): 1. Imports 2. Ford 3 & 4 Chrysler-GM (Chrysler was in front of GM section) 5. Truck/Van Sounds simple right? Now look at the current yard: 1. Imports 2, 4, 1 Ford-GM-Imports (all behind each other) 3, 4, 5 Chrysler-GM-Trucks (all behind each other) 5. Truck/Van Yes, Ford section is cut short and almost just as SMALL as Chrysler section is. Yes, GM section actually takes up space where the current Ford section ends. Plus MORE Imports also take up space in this section as well...more than both Ford and GM put together SMDH If that's not worst enough for the American vehicle visitors, this will be. Even though GM shares a bit of Ford section, it's main section has been cut off dry by MORE Trucks/Vans. Let's not even forget about the long lines here, cashier windows closing right in front of your face, infrequent bottled lukewarm water giveaways while we bask in the long lines and heat, etc. All that stuff still exist. My last visit had me walking down isles of pre-1995 of Ford and GM cars. Now those sections are almost as small as the Chrysler section. Wow! Primo yard still claims to have newer year models than rest of junk yard. BULL! A trip there shows a majority of Imports/trucks no newer than 1999. The newest I've seen was maybe a 2001 that was stripped of all the commonly pulled stuff (headlights, tail lights, mirrors, door panels, seats, etc). That lot echoes the regular lot, in terms of catering to Import/Truck customers and having VERY SMALL selection for American cars (Ford/GM/Chrysler). I couldn't find anything here really. But I didn't want to make it seem like I came here for nothing. So I ended up taking a light switch up to cashier. It clearly has a non-tier price of $9.99 (listed under "head lamp switch (dash)"). So I new I had this idiot cashier, no matter how big the light switch is, he can only charge me 1 price and not a stupid tier G3, G4, etc. pricing. Not true. He said "let me see switch." I gave it to him. Then the idiot said "it has fog light control" I gotta charge you for fog light ($5.99 for fog lamp). I laughed at that as well. #1, I don't have a damn fog light. Just a light switch from a junk car. but also since it's 50% of day, $2.99 + $4.99 is nothing. But I wasn't about to let this idiot charge me for a fog light just because the switch has fog light controls. He sounds like a fool with his head cut off. But before I can say anything, he gives me price. It was over $20.00. I'm laughing while looking at the actual price of a headlight switch on my smart phone. I ask him what did he charge me for? He shows me screen. This idiot charged me for headlight switch, fog light,...and guess what else??? Molding plastic G5 lol. How much is the molding plastic in G5 tier? $19.99 lol. So since its 50% off day, he tried to get me for another $9.99. Let's tally up: $9.99 head lamp switch (dash) $5.99 fog lamp $19.99 Molding Plastic G5 (highest tier pricing for molding plastic) I know it says 3 items. But I only had 1 lol. - 50% off everything. $17.97 w/o the taxes and bs fees they add on to that for a light switch that clearly says $9.99 on their website http://www.lkqpickyourpart.com/locations/LKQ_Pick_Your_Part_-_Sun_Valley-263/prices/ I said hell no and walked out. Bottomline, if you ever come to any LKQ Pick You Part location, ALWAYS consult price list before you buy. They have the price list for EVERYTHING they sell there. Don't ask them the price. Just go to website. Also, don't let them charge you for anything you don't have. I only had 1 light switch. but this idiot tried to charge me for plastic molding and a fog light. They really overcharge you with anything that offers tier pricing (that g1, g2, g3 crap)...especially on 50% because you get 1/2 those days. Try not to get anything with tier pricing. if you do, expect a g4 on up pricing, no matter how big your item is. I will NEVER give this hell hole another chance. There are way better junk yards than this crap. Pretty sad that another UNRELATED Sun Valley junk yard on Penrose also converted to Import/Truck/Van majority and put good old American (Ford/GM/Chrysler) all the way to the rear. Dealing with lkq was fine and there warranty's are great.. but but but they do business with a shop in Santa Paula named Daisy's Tire and I bought a new engine through Daisy's from lkq, and Daisy's installed my engine incorrectly and lied to me and said they had the correct tools to install the engine, Daisy's didn't even start installing the engine till 2 weeks after they received it. I lost my job because Daisy's didn't know what they were doing and I lost my home because I lost my job. Me and my kids had to stay in a shelter for 5 months because of Daisy's Tire, and on top of all that Daisy's Tire stole 400 dollars worth of stuff outta my car when it was in there shop.. lkq is a good business but they need to reconsider who they do business with ,cuz it makes them look really really bad.. Daisy's Tire hands down ruined my life and my kids life. I spent a total of 4500 just to ruin my life, I could of used the money for another car, but Daisy's promised me they would take care of me and get the job done, but they lied to me and for that they destroyed my life read more

This was my first time here. I've now gone twice.... both times were similar in experience. Huge lot, tons of parking, and a taco truck outside. $2 main entry, but they also have a special section that costs an additional $2, which is a re-entry BTW. Customer service was great- David was helpful and friendly. I found what I was looking for, paid dirt cheap, was provided with professional service and was outta there. I had the unfortunate opportunity to visit this yard. The place is absolutely filthy, I walked past HUMAN FECES. There's glass everywhere, some of the vehicles are precariously perched and a slight nudge will knock them over. There are parts and broken parts everywhere. The selection is limited but fortunately I was able to find something useful, even though it wasn't a perfect fit, I MacGyvered it. Imports are trashed and most domestics are still in tact. Those cars look like they've been there for months. The 'primo' yard is ridiculous because most of the cars there are destroyed anyway. Prices are ridiculous as well, we paid 40 for a few electrical plugs. Anywhere else they would've been a dollar. read more
