A Pershing/Persian is a doughnut that is similar to a cinnamon roll but is made with doughnut batter. Meijer has had a plethora of Persian varieties lately, with one of them featuring Nilla wafers. The surface of this pastry contains a lake of vanilla pudding with sweet cream cheese frosting bordering it like a beach. Three mini-Nilla wafers can be found within the pudding as the finishing touches. The cinnamon flavor of the pastry's body is sweet and relatively subtle with no uncomfortable burning/heat to it. Cinnamon granules can be seen in the dough after taking a few bites if you look closely enough. I found the dough to have a nice thick and chewy texture while also being light and pillowy. At first, I wasn't digging the texture of the pudding as I'm used to the whole thing being frosting, but it grew on me with each bite. In an age of self checkout, they have stayed the course by having not only humans behind the register but also bagging your groceries. They offer an incredible selection of cheeses and their meat department seems to along half the back of the store. The recent remodel of this area is also coming along nicely. They did not have some of the Finds they had in their ad, along with some of the food items advertised. The freezer section was sparse and was lacking items we went for. We did arrive at 8:30 am when the store opened on Wednesday and it was disappointing. There was a lot of stocking of shelves going on while we were there but shouldn't that have been done on Tuesday evening before the new ad starts? Also the Sneak Peek flyer when you leave the store hasn't been updated for the last 2 weeks. We may have to switch to the Brookfield location. So far, they haven't disappointed.

You walk in the main door and are hit by a flower shop, hygiene products and cards. I thought this was a grocery store. Where are the groceries?! It's Sunday, very busy here at "Metro Market" and yet, they have only 2 checkers working. Two!! The have multiple self check out stations but the bagging situation is ridiculous. If you move a full bag to your cart the systems requires you to "wait for assistance". If you put something directly into your cart without setting it in the bagging area (gallon of milk), the system requires you to "wait for assistance". However, there is no one available to assist because the one person managing all the self checkouts is busy assisting someone else. I do my best to avoid shopping here and suggest anyone else do the same. Shop the Aldi or Pick n Save on the other side of town.

However, I was walking right by the upper level entrance and remembered that I needed a couple things so I did enter and was a bit impressed with the large variety of non-food items on this level. While none of them were things that I was there for, it was something I wanted to make a mental note of for the future. After heading downstairs, I did find what I was looking for though for the size of the store I was a bit surprised at the limited selection in both of the areas that I browsed (pretzels and baking needs), but they did have what I came for, so I can't complain too much! This isn't a store I would likely frequent often if I lived in the area, but it was definitely good in a pinch and since I was already walking by.

Funny enough, I found the manager and he was so kind and patient with me though I'm sure extremely busy. He showed me where the sandwiches were located but we noticed how there weren't enough for my group. He immediately went back and assembled sandwiches with his team quickly while I found the other items I needed. Special thanks to the Sendik's employees who turned out some delicious sandwiches for me and my team! Also enjoyed the mini cookies and assorted chips we had with it, too. The parking structure is easy to navigate and had plenty of parking on a weekday. The store is clean and bright, and everyone was friendly. It's definitely a good-sized store compared to other locations - you should be able to find just about anything you need here. Really impressed with my stop. :) Looking forward to checking out the happy hour at their bar!
