My husband & I'd just moved to Germany from the States, when we'd checked into our lodging on post…read morewe'd picked up some menus at the desk for local restaurants that deliver. So, on our second night here, we'd decided that we'd try out Heimservice Capri. We LOVE Italian foods, so why not. But, they also serve Indian cultural foods & a few German favorites, too!
I LOVE the convenience of being able to order our dinner online. Which is something that we'd been spoiled with back in the States with DinerDash, UberEats, Grubhub, Instacart along with MANY other eateries, coffee & dessert shops that delivered in their areas, too. Each of them delivered our orders directly to the door of our home & at the specific time that I'd needed them to be just in time for everyone in our family were expected home from work & school. Most times, I'd timed it perfectly. But, not all the time.
Being in a foreign country, we'd expected things NOT to be the same as back in the States. As far as presentation, how the food may smell like or if the flavors tasted the same. So we knew not to set our expectations too high.
But, Capri really surprised us! Not only are the prices easy on the purse strings, they offer "Family Meals" for decent prices. But, you can also order items a la carte. It'd only taken about an hour for our food to be prepared & delivered to our room. Thankfully, our delivery person spoke a little English because neither myself or my husband spoke a lick of German. Very nice guy, though. Once he'd left, we sat down to eat. I'd ordered Ham Croquettes as an appetizer, a small (28cm) Fantasia pizza, Meat Lasagna with garlic bread, an Italian salad, a liter of coke & an Apple Strudel (for dessert) for us to share. To some, that may not seem like much. But, we'd eaten until we were stuffed & still had enough to share the next day for lunch!
Mind you, my husband & I are not the skinny, barely eat anything, anorexic or bulimic types. We're your typical gluttonous Americans who love our food with a family history of heart disease & diabetes. So, YEAH! This place gave us A LOT of food! YAY! We're DEFINITELY going to miss them when we move into our new home in a few weeks. For now, we'll just enjoy them while we still can.
