Zigma is another amazing stall at the West Side Bazaar which opened up more recently to all of the others, and has a fancier and less-generic hanging sign. It's on the right when you first walk in. They have all kinds of lovely items at good prices, and seem to be a little busier than the other stands (at least the last two times I've visited). Very friendly with lots of bright colours and a lot of fun for any girl I happen to bring here. You should Zig-Zag around the WSB and check out all the different stuff. If I was one size smaller I would have purchased one of the dramatic sweaters they had. Prices seemed good. I was taken to Awke by a couple Iraqi women friends of mine. It is a hole in the wall store (there is not even any signage on the exterior) carrying items for the local Ethiopian, Indian, and Middle Eastern community. The store carried jeweled and embroidered dresses, cloaks, scarves and the sweaters I was looking at. There was also a large section of cosmetics, kitchen items, and polar fleece blankets and boots for children and women. Half of the items were still in their large shipping cartons, the displayed items were in relaxed groupings which made one's search for treasure interesting but fun. I didn't have time to look through the carton of scarves, I may need to go back and see if one has my name on it.

Scented paradise…read more While we don't wear a lot of scent these days, allergies etc., there was time that was not the case. The preferred scent was an older one, not always easily available in stores or duty free. Then I discovered this place. They carry it, and at a discounted rate. Fabulous. I have come back ever since, often for gifts for others, hard to find scents etc. If you need something specific I might call to see if they have it before coming out here, but if you just want to buy something "new" this could be a great place to try.

I happen to collect these things because they make awesome night lights (great for reading if others are asleep) and because they're just plain pretty. However, many people believe in the healing and purifying aspects of these things, and if that's your thing, cool. The women who run the store are very knowledgeable and can fill you in on all the different properties of the lamps. Oh yes, the staff - the women who run this place are adorable. I mean, I just want to put them in my pocket. They're super nice, and always happy to take a moment out of their day to chat, whether it's about their products or real estate, or whatever. They're also very good - they insist you "try out" any lamp in which you are interested, meaning you get to close yourself in the bathroom to check out how each lamp glows in total darkness. And replacement bulbs are always free, I think. They have a nice selection of magnetic jewelry, which again, I think is really pretty. Oh, and if any of you have housemates of a fuzzy nature, I highly recommend picking up one of the organic catnip toys. My cats *still* love the one that I brought home two years ago. Usually these things lose potency after a few months, but my furballs still get all drank-too-much-Jolt-cola around it. I don't know what it is, probably that it's been rifled through more, but Saks looks more like a "garbage bin for old ladies" than Barney's does with overflowing racks, too many racks, and items that look more pre-owned than new. Whenever I step into this store, it's never with the intention to buy, but browse, just to check out the quality of the merchandise, flip the price tags over, etc. Anyway, I just wanted to write this review after my positive experience with one of their younger, female, possibly Eastern European, salesgirl. I found her pleasant, unpretentious, not too intrusive, knowing when to ask for help/give space, and she was helpful when I asked her about cuts of jeans. This is a large Barneys outlet store…read more Barneys is hit or miss in NYC and in the outlet stores. You may or may not like what they are carrying today. But its always high end and high quality. One things I will say, at their outlet stores in general, be careful to look for missing buttons or loose stitching. Sometimes they don't catch it before they put it on the floor.

The boutique had women's clothes, purses, jewelry and a few other things. Nothing that I was shopping for, but it was a cute place to browse and shop around. Saving that fifth star for when the cafe reopens, I hope the business sends me a message once it does since I'd love to come back and visit!
