Re: our first (and only so far) online order from Quebec. The products are fine. My only complaint…read moreis that one of the two cans was dented. Who sends out a dented can to a new client (or to any client, for that matter)? It seemed shoddy and not the best way to prompt return business. The delivery date kept changing, as well, but I suppose that's on UPS. (The physical shop in Burlington looks amazing. I would totally and gleefully blow my food budget there.)

Zesty Pita was rather kind of busy today so we ate along the bench that faces out the front window of the restaurant. Right in front of us is the Wandering Scott that I never realized was there. So after eating lunch I wandered in with the hopes that they'd have Walkers chips for sale and there was much to my surprise an entire wall dedicated to Walkers chips. The sad part was that they didn't have my favorite flavor (bacon) but they did have a few that I've not had before like Prawn Cocktail and Worcester sauce. They even had larger 6 packs of Cheese and Onion as well as a variety pack that includes Cheese and Onion, Salt and Vinegar and Ready Salted. Besides the chips a whole array of other snacks and imported foods can be had here such as a mix of Cadbury and even canned foods. There's a pastry display that has cookies, pastries, pies and even cheeses. I'm never been to England but this store makes me want to go, seriously... What equates to about 16 bags of chips cost me about 17 dollars after tax. The larger 6 pack bags work out to be 5.50 plus tax. I ended up also getting a tin of tiny Rolos but mostly I bought it for the tin. This store is simply "lovely" :)

Shopping for post-Christmas groceries we were looking to pick up some staples, see what's new and…read moreoverall just check this place out. It's my friends local grocery and someplace he frequents. Parking appears to be decent, but you will soon realize it's a little more like mad max around here. Surprisingly fresh produce with dragon fruit and other more rare tropical, seasonal fruits offered. The bakery permeated with fresh loaves steady. Sushi, nope, note in a million years. First off Hamilton has crap sushi knocking down grocery sushi an extra notch. The selection of meats was impressive, a little closer to a butcher specific offering. Plenty of cheeses and crackers for charcuterie. I personally love the large butter bricks and the bagged milk (seriously need this in the states). Chocolates were all on sale. I was hoping for the full complement of Vitamin water. Some very strange nonalcoholic beer offering since that has to be bought at LCBO, also some strange chip flavors (I like loaded and ketchup, but dill pickle doritos were gross). Service is slow, real slow. I'm not gonna call anyone out, but his name is the most hipster name ever and he just grandma'd us, 10 minutes to check out less than $80 of food. No connection at all with his small talk, put this guy in the back. All in all it was cool, better than I expected, but nothing hard to get used to.

Putting your kid in a cold metal cart is less than ideal (I will save the review of the OTHER store for later - you can tell by now that I am not a fan). Sobey's has everything you need. And the reno is beautiful. They are a reasonably priced option in town, as well. Plus - you can earn AirMiles. All in all, you have won me over Sobey's. I'd hug and kiss you if I could - LOL

I recommend tempting Toronto friends with the promise of fried dough - you can usually get them out this way. The first few times we used this tactic, things didn't work out and we didn't make it. However today was that day - we finally made it here for a very late 3pm lunch! You might think BeaverTails is dessert only but there is a savoury side of things in the form of poutine and the BeaverDog! Both very Canadian. Both are pretty good. My friend described the poutine as similar to the Costco one but with way crispier fries. The BeaverDog is a hot dog wrapped in a BeaverTails pastry. You have the option of getting cheese curds inside of the BeaverDog too - definitely recommend this. I finished my meal off with a classic cinnamon and sugar BeaverTail. Depending on how they deep fry it, the tail can develop huge crispy bubbles in the middle (kind of like you'd see on a potato chip) or they're a bit denser offering a different texture and more chewy dough. So good!
