When in Canada I try to indulge in a few Canadian things...and when in eastern Canada, crepes is one of my favorites. Cafe du Monde had a variety of savory and sweet crepes. I had a breakfast crepe that was loaded with tenderly sautéed Brussels sprouts...didn't expect that. But when I asked if I could replace the bacon with vegetables, the co-owner/cashier said "bring it on" and offered a list of awesome options, allowing me to pile my crepe with an excellent selection of veggies. Aside from scrambled eggs, with romaine, onions, mushrooms, fresh basil and aioli, I added gruyere and the aforementioned Brussels sprouts! Their crepe batter made the perfect thin yet light flavorful crepé to hold all my deliciousness. The fresh strawberries and bananas for the sweet options looked perfect and ripe, the apples and caramel drizzle almost made me rethink my savory, and of course they offered Nutella if you want your added decadence with your sweet crepe. My only wish is that that they had non-dairy chocolate milk to go with their fresh dairy chocolate milk in an individual old school bottle. The patio and interior area are open for dine-in, automatic touch free bathroom doors. They have limited hours of operation and days so call before you go, but if they are open...treat yourself!

Let me give you a disclaimer, I don't eat a lot of meat. I have been here twice. I was dragged here…read moreby a friend of mine who recently moved to this sleepy little hamlet to work at a nearby university. From what I tasted, the meat is very good. I don't know that it is in the category of Lobels in New York or Peoria Packing of Chicago, but from what I had, it was very good. I also just learned that the Senator Restaurant in Toronto uses Cumbrae's beef. I haven't been back to the Senator since 1991, but it was at that time, a very good restaurant. My review is not for the meat, it is for the staff. I don't frequent butcher shops, but my past experiences have been very different from this shop. There are no old, grumpy, loud men in bloodied white coats here. Instead, they seem to have found a stable of really hot, cute young girls that love to handle raw meat. I don't get it, but each one is cuter and prettier than the next. Brunettes, blondes, red heads, its like the Sunday Funday girls of the Playboy Mansion are working here. I could cast a Bravo reality show here."The cute coeds of Cumbraes." You could do a calendar that would make the Tempe 12 look ordinary. The guys in the back are also young, like a college hockey team. I am not sure if this hiring is on purpose, or the norm for small Canadian butcher shops, but it works. I think even hardcore vegans would have a hard time avoiding this place.

They have everything from fresh pastry , different cuts of meat and a huge deli all serviced by great staff that know a lot about the products they are selling. If anyone is looking for something different and wanted to be treated to great staff you must Check this place out. Im a meat guy but even their produce looked good! As far as COVID 19 goes, I felt safe in their store. They sanitize everything all the time and the lay out is good to social distance. Also found out they offer curve side pick up and delivery. This place is 10/10 and highly recommend going. I can honestly say it's one of the nicest independent grocery store I have ever been too !!

So I made a left and headed into the parking lot. Upon entering this little gem I observed a very clean and very well organized little shop. To begin the tour heading to the right hand side of the shop (which is about 5,000 sq feet I believe.) there was an area just dedicated to seafood with all kinds of fresh fish, shrimp, lobster, squid, salmon... you get the picture. The area had all kinds of seafood sauces and spices ... But HUH? I read something about sausages... so where are they? Ah as I got a little further into the store I saw an entire area with, beef, pork and chicken. As I looked over to the chilled glass display case, there were the sausages October fest, Hot Italian, Honey garlic, mild Italian, etc... On the left side of the shop I found a full deli counter filled with all kinds of cheeses and cold cuts. You may also order a sandwich of your choice and take it to go or eat it there. Each area has staff to assist you and all the staff were extremely pleasant and friendly. The store is loaded with all sorts of exotic sauces, spices, European cookies and breads. As for me I ordered a mixture of cold cuts, October fest sausages, some steaks and some chicken. The prices were great and I loved that the store was VERY clean. Will I be back again? OH YEAH!!!!..

Just when…read moreyou thought all wonton soups are the same, I just tried their small takeout portion and OMG this is the best wonton soup and there's no close second! I've never seen wontons so huge with so much meat in them! Even cutting the wonton in half I couldn't fit the half in my mouth! And the best part is that in addition to the pork wonton there were also chunks of sliced pork mixed in with the broth! The ratio of wonton and pork to soup base was easily 90% meat and 10% soup! Look at the photos I just added and see for yourself! ----------- Original review: We decided to come this restaurant for my birthday this past Monday on a recommendation from my neighbor. WOW we made a great choice! Not sure what some of the negative reviewers were expecting, but our entire experience was perfection! Dine-in: Yes we knew ahead of time this restaurant was mostly take-out, but they still have dine-in, and sure it's not a 5-star seating experience, but if that's what you want, then go pay 100x more an an upscale restaurant. Growing up in NYC, the dine-in experience here reminded me of almost every Chinese restaurant on Canal Street (Chinatown in lower Manhattan) - very authentic, where the focus is on the food and service, not the seating and decor, so we all actually enjoyed the atmosphere. Food: There were 4 of us (all very big eaters and starving) so we ordered the "Dinner for Four Q" special: 4 egg rolls, chicken fried rice, chicken Chow Mein, beef with broccoli, sweet & sour chicken balls and breaded jumbo shrimp PLUS the lemon chicken (highly recommended by my neighbor). WOW was the food outstanding! HUGE portions (we were using the other tables to place the food trays) and all very tasty and authentic! The chicken balls were 90-95% mostly tender juicy meat (not mostly breading like other places), and the lemon chicken was the best I've ever had (trust me, I've tried hundreds from other restaurants) and they did not hold back on the sauce - half the container box filled with it, of which was spectacular, not tasteless and overly tangy like other sauces)! We were all stuffed and every single dish we ordered was still at least half full! Today is Friday and I'm still enjoying left-overs! (since it was my b-day I took most of the leftovers ) Service: All the food came piping hot and fresh very fast! Ruby was a ray of sunshine full of joy, constantly smiling, making sure we had everything we needed, and even cracking a few jokes during our festivities. She even re-packaged all the leftovers in bags without us even having to ask! For our first time dining at this restaurant all of us meeting up coming from Toronto, London and Guelph for my birthday, we are so glad we chose this restaurant, and will all be making the trek back (individually and collectively) to this restaurant, as everything was PERFECTION! Thank you Ruby for the excellent food and service, and the fun and amazing experience - we will see you again soon!

Ordered two lunch specials - Mixed Vegetables and Tofu , one on steamed rice and the other on fried rice. Both made vegan. Fairly good, although it needed some a bit more spice to make it better. Absence of or very low usage of ginger and garlic may also be the cause. But the ingredients fresh as they can be, the steamed rice cooked perfectly and fried rice made good as well. Love their customer service and flexibility to accommodate us. Definitely coming back for some other dishes.
