This tailor was WAY too expensive. I went in for a bridesmaid dress, asked for multiple alterations but she basically looked at it and was like uh no. It felt rude and made me uncomfortable. They are good with standard work, but bother with anything custom or requiring imagination.

Be warned that this tailor is WAY overpriced. The quality of the work actually decent. You probably won't be disappointed by that. So one might say, well then perhaps the quality of work is justified by the price. In my opinion, price should not be set just by the quality of work but by the entire service they provide, e.g. their location, communication with the customer, their knowledge of fashion and proportion, and the service you receive. 1. The quality was decent. 2. The communication is poor. I didn't feel like they heard me. 3. For men, they don't know proper sizing. Sport jacket sleeve length in particular. 4. Way overpriced. I paid $45 for tapering and $25 for letting out the sleeves. I used to pay about half as much when I lived in Los Angeles, and I recently found another tailor in West Haven called Carlos Tailor Shop which charges about $40 for all of that. Only reason I didn't take my stuff to him is because he is on vacation. Check out my review on him. Last word: I wouldn't come here again unless it was absolutely necessary. I've had alterations done here a number of times over the past couple years - they do a really nice job. The place is clean, the work is good, the people here are very friendly, and they have fast turnaround. To be clear, this isn't the kind of place I would bring an expensive suit that needed a bunch of fashion-savvy tailoring. This place is really about basic alterations done well. Prices are good, though not super cheap - a little more than at a dry cleaner that does alterations, but less than a true tailor. For example, as of early 2012, hems are $7 (looks to be a temporary special) and waist in/out is $14. Joshua A's pricing standards seem far out of market. read more

I have had a TON of hems done here, and even had them take in some pants that were too loose after I lost weight. I also had a repair done on the lining of a coat, and you can't even tell there was ever a rip. I love the work they do here and will continue to bring my items in. read more

very dissatisfied i took 2 dresses to her in the middle of september told her no rush because the event wasn't until october she tallied up the cost of the dresses and gave me a total of $37 no problem go there today with my receipt for the originally amount and she says to me its $8 more so now $45 i said to her first of all you knew this since when and you couldn't call to say you made a mistake on your price don't wait till the customer comes in and say $8 more you had my phone# to call suppose i didn't have the xtra money i don't do business like that then i called when i got home because there were ppl in the store and i don't believe in embarrssing ppl to express my concern for how she didn't handle that correctly and explained to her how that wasn't good customer service she hung up the phone very rude and disrespectful now if i had showed my azz in the store i would of been every ghetto etc i will not take my business to them again i'm with the other the guy review they over charge you i believe they make there prices up as they go along also they need to learn to speak english very well how the heck you have a business in the usa and your english is very poor unhappy customer lost my business if you need alterations done make sure there english is understandable read more
