It had the only eye doctor that did not give me a disrespectful hard time about refusing eye dilation. Dr. Vachon's exam and diagnosis, even with my cataract, was spot-on and I can now see things I've not seen in years. Eye dilations are for medical diagnosis only and not needed just to get an updated vision prescription. In fact, the only poor eye exam prescription outcomes I've had in my entire life - 4 of them in 2 states - were the result of eye dilations and the exams had to be redone every time, even when an ophthalmologist did them - at an average additional cost of $60! Penobscot's optician, Rebecca, also did an excellent job with their selection of frames and with fitting and finish work and my new glasses were ready in half the estimated time. I would highly recommend Penobscot Eye Care to anyone.

Improvement to my vision exceeded my expectations The cataract surgery I needed was performed with minimal anesthesia, even so I had no pain during the surgery. There was an hour or two period of some discomfort for a couple hours after the surgery, but not severe, or unexpected after having my eye operated on. Nothing a couple Advil wouldn't help with, and all fine by 8 hours after the surgery.

Second time, they did not sedate her, and she felt pain during the surgery. They made the anesthetic drops in the eye more the half of hour before surgery. 2. They damaged her vein with IV. 3. The nurses are rude. Every nurse is trained to answer only few questions. If you ask wrong nurse a wrong question, she will get mad at you. The patients are treated as details on a conveyor line.
