I know this is a run down neighborhood, slowly being gentrified, but Piassa Ingera is one of those hidden gems that definitely needs to stay and be recognized. I've passed this place dozens of times over the years while traveling on the Dundas Streetcar only recently visiting with a friend. To be honest, we had very low expectations only to find that we were treated with very friendly and timely service.
The storefront is a little awkward and is right off the corner. As soon as you go in there's a huge selection of Ethiopian grocery items alongside their VERY limited menu. Honestly, why stray from what you do so right? The options are mixed veg, lamb, veal and chicken each comes with 2 servings of injera ranging from $9-$14. The mixed veg platter in my case was able to serve two people, so the prices are definitely worth it.
Go out of your comfort zone and try something new, go to Piassa Ingera. Don't like the venue? Get it to go, and you will be pleasantly surprised read more
