Another hidden gem in Amsterdam. We are always looking for things that are unique and different. And Amsterdam has over 50 small museums with everything from smoking pipes to eyeglasses to handbags. The Pianola Museum is one such place and it's right at home in the heart of the Jordaan. When you enter, you really travel back in time to the early 1900s. The front room is an Art Nouveu/Art Deco bar. Beyond that is the museum which is really one big room with many different kinds of player pianos. Kasper Janse is a wonderful host, who plays a few different pianos and tells you about their history. Cool fact: Did you know that before the Anne Frank family lived there, the famous house was home to a pianola music roll factory? You are also free to browse on your own and Kasper will even show you how to play one of the pianos yourself. It's only open on Sunday afternoons...except when they host concerts which can be on other days as well. You can get more of an impression in our video here:
