(He charged me $150, which I thought was very reasonable.) Bill also didn't visibly judge my messy house crammed with sports gear and kids toys. They then offered to fly out their local trusted technician, but I declined. It was a frustrating overall experience for me, but they've been respectful in their communication and followed through in making sure I was either satisfied with my piano or got a full refund. ----- I'm in middle of a dispute with the owners Jonathan and Charlie. I purchased a piano last year from out of state and it's been nothing but trouble since the beginning. They've hired 3 different technicians and have visited my home 7 times and can't fix the dampening issue. I've asked for a refund which they've refused. This current technician has been unresponsive for over a month and Jonathan and Charlie can't seem bothered to resolve this. I'm filing a civil suit next week if there isn't any progress. I had no idea they needed to be tuned every 6-12 months, we haven't tuned ours in many moons. I don't play but my daughter does and I must say that after an hour long deep tune session the piano sounds much better. I learned that each tuning should be a fine tuning not a complete overhaul. I also learned because of this Florida weather that all pianos should have a dehumidifier installed so that the keys and other wood moving parts do not become sticky or wrap which makes a lot of sense. This is something the piano store should recommend when you first purchase a piano but I do not recall them ever mentioning this. Anyhow, the piano teacher immediately noticed that the piano sounded much better so I guess I will have to get this thing tuned on a regular basis. Overall great experience, Don was able to accommodate my schedule and come to the house after five and can schedule weekends if needed. I highly recommend him for you piano tuning needs.

Starr Taylor is a miracle worker. My 60 year old Steinway upright had been refinished immediately…read moreprior to moving into our new home. When it arrived, the action was slow, but still acceptable. Over time, it became so bad that it was completely unplayable. I had two "big name" individuals from the Tampa Bay piano world come look at it. No answers beyond "put in a bigger dehumidifier". Nothing improved. 7 years later, we're selling our home and I have to decide what to do with the piano. I got on a Reddit sub and asked for a local specialist. One replied and told me about Starr Taylor, indicating that he was the best when it comes to Steinways and pianos in general, and that he had learned more in a single presentation from Starr than he had from anyone else he had studied under. So I reached out to Mr. Taylor and he said he would come take a look. He checked it thoroughly, diagnosed the issues, spent a an hour pulling the action out and working through it carefully, reinstalled it and my Lord... it was back to playing as it did prior to the move! He proceeded to tune it as well (at my request) and within less than two hours of him walking in the door, what had become merely a prop for candles and photos was back to being a lovely musical instrument!! I cannot, in any way, shape or form, recommend ANYONE more highly than Starr Taylor if you need work performed on your piano. From something that I thought I might have to just give away, to being an instrument that inspires me to sit down and play again...it feels like nothing short of a miracle!
