Formerly just Hoa Khoan, this was the first large dim sum restaurant in Paris Chinatown, when it…read morefirst opened in the late 70's/early 80's. They also 'pioneered' some practices, like giving out free on-the-bone boiled meat with some dishes. The food is basic Cantonese, supplemented by some 'must have' Vietnamese dishes (like ph, ch giò, bò lúc lc). The menu is slightly less extensive and diverse than nearby Tricotin, but it is as good. Packed solid at lunch, so they do try to encourage you not to linger, but in a nice and gentle way. Customers used to the standards of cooking in East and Southeast Asia would find this subpar, but it is above-average for Paris.
