This is my 3rd time coming to this practice. I see Bill Joy. As a worker in the medical field, I am not impressed. The reason I keep coming back is because I just need 6 units of Botox injected for my crows feet bilaterally. 6x2=12 units
So, I made the appointment for 12 pm. I show up 2 mins before 12. First, they couldn't find my chart but ended up finding it, with a spelling mistake to my last name.
Then, I waited until 1215 pm. No sight of Bill Joy. At which point I asked the front desk secretary (blonde) how far behind he was.
Her answer- I don't know. She said I will likely be seen within the next 30 mins.
So I asked if I could leave and have them give me a call when he is available.
She said- maybe, but if another person shows up, then you'll have to wait for that person to get done.
At this point in time, I said- if Bill cannot see me at 12 pm + 15 mins, then why was I offered the appointment at 12pm?
So she was forced to check with Bill (who was tending to another person in another room).
The next thing you know, I was placed in a room. Bill comes in.
I told him I should be a quick case since I only need 12 units total. He injected me and left. Fast, no pain, done.
Next comes the bill. I was previously charged $10 per unit. This time, the bill came up to $280. I was shocked !
I asked why the cost was so high, the lady (brunette) was not interested in hearing about that. All she cared about was for me to sign up for some points program
on my phone so that I could "earn points" and get discount the next time I come.
For all I know, they probably get a kickback from this company for every person who joins the program.
I tried entertaining her for a while and in the end, put my foot down and asked why the bill was so high. She said they charge $12 per unit.
To which I pointed out that I only asked for a total of 12 units injected. How is it that my bill is double the amount?
She then said that Bill injected 24 units !
WTF?!
I asked why did he inject 24 when all I needed was 12?!
Did he not look at my chart and see that I have always only injected 12 units in the past?
So she said- ok ok, why don't you just pay $144. And that was it.
And again asked me to register for the points program.
I am glad I didn't have to pay more, but what I'm super mad about is how unsafe this practice is.
They don't talk to you to ask you what you want, they don't double check on dosage, and it seems that this practice is not well run.
If there are better practices out there, please let me know. I'd be happy to switch in a heartbeat. Heck ! I'll even inject my own Botox ! read more
