I was hoping to learn and enhance my already "decent" flexibility for a big guy. All was going well until a few months later (A little over a year ago) when I tore something in my right hip/groin area. My inner thigh down to my knee was ecchymotic, but I was still able to hobble along and soon I was back to riding my bike. All's good I thought. It'll get better on it's own. Fast forward to today, I should have sought out medical attention sooner. I have had several knee surgeries (5) and a ton of other injuries over the years (31 years in Fire Rescue and 4 1/2 in the military). I've always tried to tough it out when I could; no one likes doctors, right? But this hip/groin injury was unlike any other as it lingered on and on, never really getting right. I did my research to learn as much as I could regarding hip injuries and would log onto YouTube to learn more about stretches for an injured groin/hip. But I learned the hard way that didn't really know what I was doing. Bottom line is I wasn't getting better. I was still working out, compensating and making things worse. I finally went to an Orthopedist /Sports Medicine specialist. The usual culprits of osteoarthritis and his pals were part of my problem. The Doc suggested I do some Physical Therapy (PT) to help with mobility and strengthening. I declined an MRI at the time. With so many injuries and surgeries over the years, I've been to a myriad of PT places here in Miami. Except for a time after a serious knee procedure, I learned that most of the PT centers treated patients like an assembly line, impersonal and just expediting you along with one tech juggling multiple patients. I guess that's how they make the $$. You get put on a bike for x-amount of time, make a couple of moves, get a TENS unit applied and then a little heat or ice, and you're done. That about sums up my experiences with PT centers. They would do the minimum, and reschedule you for the next waste of time. Definitely not what you'd expect or what you see on TV. I wanted to do some PT closer to home. I wanted a place that focuses on sports injuries, with some one on one time with the therapist. I wanted a place that would teach me how to regain my mobility and strengthen me to the core. To teach me the right way. After much searching I found that place in North Miami Beach called "Everything Physical Therapy. Run by Dr. Eric Rosenfield (PT/DPT), they are exactly what I was searching for. A small, personal clinic co-located within a personal training center, and very well equipped. Hour long sessions were usually one-on-one, and physically demanding. I was looking forward to and getting pushed as much as I asked for, no just faking moves and going through the motions. This week I've just completed eight weeks of PT, my gait is significantly improved and my mobility has been greatly enhanced. My pain is significantly reduced. I also finally had an MRI last week and am awaiting the results. Now if I do required surgery, I'll be so much stronger that recovery should be quicker. Eddie (Outstanding therapist) and Doc Eric have provided me the treatment and proper tools necessary for me to continue on my own now. If the diagnosis is such that I will require a surgical repair, so be it. I guess I'll be back. Easy to get to and a great staff all around. If you're looking to get real with your physical therapy, ready to work a bit to improve, strengthen and add miles and years to your body, My wife (Also a retired firefighter) also sees them for her injury. So if you're serious about recovering from surgery or an injury I would definitely recommend you stop by or call Everything Physical Therapy in NMB. Of course the part of me that's Type A has an order, and just like me it's complex. So, in the order of hierarchical engagement (don't ask, I'm complicated lol), it all starts with everyone at the front desk! They make the check-in process so easy with barely any wait-time. Truly like clockwork, how many times have you waited 15-30 minutes, sometimes longer, way AFTER your appointed time! How annoying is that, when healthcare providers have no respect for your time?! Well nothing to fear about that here, it's a finely tuned machine! * Anne in the office oriented me to what to expect and pretty much gave me a general idea of what to expect! Her winning smile is as authentic as it can be, and she introduced me to my next notable person. * Dr. "B" (can't pronounce his name), is a floating Dr for this facility, but somehow the Universe knew the type of personality I'd sync with...not stiff/conservative and with a lot of personality! He was very informative and made me feel at ease! An absolute sweetheart and professional, he's also a medical doctor and knows his sh*t! * Dr. Richards has a more tranquil and laid back demeanor (an easy confidence) and balances out the spectrum of medical personalities well. He gives you a feeling of peace & has the most amazing technique when adjusting my neck! No clack clack of that horrendous clicker (activator). Holy moly, I've got 2 favorites in one place! Be still my heart! For added context, he's an Aries like me, so the Universe has blessed me twice. * Marisela runs the show with the therapists and organizing who does what, and goes where. The place can get pretty hectic at any given hour, but she somehow knew which therapists and doctors works well for me, and if that's not a sign of true caring, and exemplary customer service, I don't know what else will! I simply adore her for taking that extra care to know her clients. * I love all the therapists there, however, in terms of holistic care and what I needed, Zadkiel has the strength and technique perfected and now I am able to sleep soundly because of his ministrations. I could go on and on about this place, it's my slice of heaven and has alleviated so much of the pain sustained in my neck and back. Truly grateful to each and every one! It eventually (about every two years) needs to be sorted! Thanks to Centerline Physical Therapy (or IPT) for a few great things. Your facility: it's clean, spacious and great parking outside. You also open at 8am so it's great to get in before the traffic mayhem. Your team: after initially being reviewed by Craig Cohen who reaffirmed the issue, Manuel Lacayo took over in a weekly session covering a wholistic approach from my neck, shoulders, front and back upper torso, moving down the entire back. Manuel listens, and talks you through what he is doing. He is also game for your own music selection during the therapy session. The result: I am three weeks in, and 95% whole, so I can move from weekly to every few weeks! Pain is gone, and I have my homework to keep things in check. I really recommend this facility and team for those of us stuck in from of laptops and PC's all day, and get tense pain in the neck and shoulders. Nice work team!
