Jenny is all the things that we wanted in a wedding photographer that we didn't know we wanted in a wedding photographer! Having never hired a photographer before, it was all a bit overwhelming, especially in the wedding space as there are just SO many options. Before meeting Jenny via Skype, my now husband and I had a conversation with another Seattle-based photographer (also by Skype as we were doing all the planning remotely from Oregon). While this other photographer had a really nice portfolio, we left that lackluster conversation feeling very....meh. Very...discouraged. We spent about an 1.5 hours before our ceremony galavanting around the streets near our venue for our couples photos. Jenny had previously scouted the area and took us to some awesome nooks that I never knew existed, including a super bright fuchsia wall of an apartment building that I just loved! Following all that, she orchestrated our family portrait time well, even with our two crazy families all over the place. While being the utmost of a professional, Jenny just seemed to blend into the party the entire night. Many of our guests commented about how great Jenny was. Our wedding was on a Saturday night and by Monday evening Jenny had already sent us some teasers, which were all AWESOME and I cannot wait to see the rest! I recently did a Quickie Headshot session with Jenny because I needed a few professional photos for my new business website and marketing. Jenny is a joy to work with. She is incredibly experienced and intuitive about light and color and is very warm, welcoming and fun to work with. She helped me choose wardrobe from the things I had brought, chose complementary backgrounds and directed me expertly for the most flattering shots. After the shoot she quickly pared down the shots to a few dozen which we went through together in order to find the final three. The entire process was smooth and easy and under an hour total. Within just a couple days she had gently edited the photos and emailed me a download link. Super simple and quick! I am not especially comfortable having my picture taken and was apprehensive about the appointment but it was an absolute joy and I couldn't be more happy with the images we ended up with. Jenny is the best! She knocked our June 14th wedding out of the park! We were referred Jenny's way by my husband's colleague, who used her services for his wedding waaaay back when and who now swear by her for all his family photo ops. We totally owe that guy dinner. Jenny was professional yet approachable from day 1, and made it a point to get to know us as a couple in our meetings leading up to the big day. She even snooped around our neighborhood to scout out photo ops. She served up none BS and was completely transparent and willing to work with our budget and schedule as they evolved over the final months. Day of, she was on site early and ready to roll. In my experience attending weddings, a detail that has always driven me nuts is the "inconspicuous" photog duo decked out in head to toe Goodwill hues of washed out black getting in everyone's way and standing out like displaced puppeteers. Jenny flew efficiently solo and actually blended in with our guests. She worked the room like an old friend and did her casual wedding magic, making the camera part of the day rather than some foreign, imposing prop sneaking up on people. I'm pretty sure the only part of the event where her role as a paid vendor became obvious to our guests was during the formal wedding party/ family photo shoot. Otherwise, she was at one with the party. Icing on the professional cake, Jenny put herself out to act as a liaison with our various POCs as needed to smooth over stupid details everyone had overlooked, like having lunch plated for us. The highlight of our experience was hands down Jenny's excitement about our location. Our venue was ~6 blocks up the street from our apartment, and she jumped on that opportunity. We were able to hop back to our home for our "couple's only" formal photo time slot after the ceremony, and do some shots inside and out, around the block and up the street. It was more US than anything we could have come up with on our own. Jenny was the sh*t. She was great with kids. She was great with drunk adults. She was great with vendors. She was a dream come true. Jenny took photos for our wedding 6 years ago and a family session last year. The photos are always beautifully composed, but more importantly, she captures authentic expressions in her photos.
