Before the wedding, we had a video call to get to know each other and discuss the timeline, and Sarah had us complete a short questionnaire to make sure all our requested group photo combinations were covered. It was also important to us that our dog be included, and we were happy to learn she has plenty of experience photographing animals. What impressed us most was how prepared she was. A few days before the wedding, Sarah visited the courthouse around the same time we planned to take outdoor photos so she could evaluate the lighting and scout the best backdrops. On the wedding day, Sarah made great use of every moment, capturing details like my bouquet and our rings during downtime. She beautifully documented both the ceremony and our outdoor portraits. Since we're not used to being in front of the camera, her prompts helped us look natural and relaxed. Sarah also did an amazing job photographing our dog and recreating inspiration photos I had saved on Pinterest. She delivered both previews and our full gallery promptly. We love the vibrant colors, and we appreciated that she also included black-and-white versions of many photos. Although our wedding was a small courthouse ceremony, Sarah's portfolio includes large weddings/events, headshots, and many other types of photography. Sarah's photos are incredibly beautiful, capturing all of the color that we had on our wedding day. She knew the best lighting, angles, and poses that made us look so good! It is such a pleasure to look back at our wedding photos and see that the joy we experienced on our wedding day is very much reflected in Sarah's images. In addition to our wedding portraits and photos of our friends and family, Sarah captured so many details like our rings and invitation, in which she brought her own styling flowers. She also handled our large families well for family portraits, and managed to sneak us out for golden hour photos, which are some of my favorite shots. She accepted my semi-large Pinterest board of photo ideas and locations at our wedding venue with ease, and she captured all of the details that we included in our wedding so beautifully. We had some additional editing requests after the fact (annoying dress straps, anyone?), and she was able to remove those in every single photo in which they appeared. Sarah also brought Shannon as a second-shooter, who was so enjoyable to work with, also an amazing photographer, and very experienced in the makeup snafu category when my makeup went slightly wonky. She scouted out the perfect location on a dead end road that allowed for photos of to be taken safely in the street and around the car as if he was driving. Her attention to details made our time really special. She started the session by asking Jacob what his favorite music was, which she played throughout the shoot. She had also suggested that if he had a pair of favorite sunglasses to bring them - something I wouldn't have thought of and it really helped capture the vibe of what he was looking for. Our time allowed for multiple outfit changes and locations. The light that Nina was able to capture in the photos was stunning. It does not matter if you booked an appointment two months away, and you cancel a month in advance - you will NOT get a refund if you do not cancel WITHIN 3 days of booking the appointment. --- I found this studio via Instagram ads, boasting a free session for Bay Area locals. I signed up, we had a phone call, and I was informed that the session was free but the photos were not. So basically, you can book the session and they will take the photos, but if you want to take your photos home, you have to buy a photo package (starting at $750+). What a clever way to hook people in... advertise a free session, then charge people for the photos, since technically they're not charging to take the photos of you - just for you to take them home. Foolishly, I booked the appointment anyway and paid the $100 deposit fee for an appointment set in September. I received a confirmation of the appointment and (doubly foolishly) did not notice the explicit statement that there is only a three day window from the time of booking in order to cancel and receive a refund of the deposit. This was in July. It is August now - well in advance of the appointment - and I realize I have to cancel. Of course I receive an email letting me know that I will not receive a refund. This is upsetting, but in all fairness, the cancellation policy was provided with the confirmation (I checked). So all of this is to say: BE PREPARED AND UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE AGREEING TO before you decide to book with this studio. **Furthermore, you will not find this business listed on the Better Business Bureau's website. Jenny did an amazing job capturing our newborn photos. I had no idea what to expect for a newborn…read moreshoot but she sent us information ahead of time and reassured us that it would be casual and there was no pressure. This is EXACTLY what I needed as a first time mom with a 10 day old baby -- I was exhausted and feeling so overwhelmed but really wanted to capture such a special time! Our shoot went so smoothly, she came prepared with tons of props, blankets, cute clothes, and even a space heater! As expected, a newborn baby isn't the most cooperative (although he slept a lot of the time) and she knew exactly how to soothe and calm him when he got fussy. The photos came out so quickly and were so precious. I am sooo grateful to have these photos forever. I honestly didn't know if I really wanted to get them done because it was such a chaotic time but it was 110% worth it. We've gotten several framed and used some for our announcements!
