This review is for the Photo Warehouse "megastore" located at 175 Great North Rd, Ponsonby, Auckland.
I was in need of an adapter for my tripod that would go from 3/8 to 1/4. I get it, they are kind of special adapters, nonetheless brands such as Manfrotto make them and you can easily get them in Photo stores in the US (as well as in Amazon and B&H) for less than 7 bucks for a package that contains two.
I was "helped" by some jerk named Andrew Lunn, which cared about anything else than his sales commission. I ended up buying an overpriced manfrotto ball head which he said could work, (i also thought it could, if you removed the adapter). Not only i ended up spending 80 dollars more than what i wanted, but the man treated us like dirt.... I honestly have not been treated worse at any store by anyone, even though we had spent $200+ that day after we bought some memory cards.
Needless to say that the ball head didn't work, as i couldn't remove the adapter.... I take it... errors happen. Nonetheless... we tried calling back to return something that i could not use, and his response was "we only give store credit, no returns..." (!!!!!)
When we tried to ask for a manager, he told us to call back in 10 minutes as the manager was busy.
I say, avoid this store... for sure.
I have seen first hand the awesome Kiwi hospitality, and thus i can say that this is definitely an anomaly... Kiwis do not do business like these people... If you can, order your parts online... there's NO REASON why to go to an overpriced store, where people treat you like crap and make you feel that all they want from you is your money, rather than help you out solve your problem. read more
