Atmosphere and people were great. Had a really nice selection of wines to choose from with some great background and history about the wine.

Peter was wonderful to work with but had multiple booking that evening so he provided another person that was great!

There were a few people in the tasting room but no one behind the bar. I was a bit turned off in the beginning due to a bit of a wait for help to arrive. Once she did arrive, she was chatty and knowledgeable about the wines, which definitely made up for our wait. We each had did a tasting: the lighter side of reds and big and bold reds. Our server was good about discussing the wines and flavor profiles. She also talked about her personal favorites in their collection. Even though the night was winding down and she was preparing to close, she was great about letting us each order a glass while she did her closing tasks. The wine was good, the atmosphere is inviting. I would come back but hope that there is no wait.

I enjoyed the first two. The third one was a Chardonnay and that one wasn't bad. However, my waitress disappeared and I never got my fourth glass of wine. Also, she did not bring me a fresh glass for each wine tasting which I thought was a little tacky. She also did not bring me any water to cleanse my pallet. I just think that if you are serving different wines, they should be served in separate glasses because the residue from one could affect the taste of the next period. I thought that was just common sense. Anyway, that was a bit of a turn off for me. Otherwise it's a cute place.

We had already attended the frys on shea baking night making scones where we just helped the chef... It was more an informational class to sit across the bar because I suppose their insurance doesn't allow you to really get involved there. Other courses in the valley are larger scale classrooms with more students where you won't get as involved and you may as well watch a video online for free. I have to say when I talked to Maggie about how the structure was and if we cooked or helped, I was happy to hear that her response was "oh, I give you an intro and sample how to make things but you're doing the prep and the cooking." She gave an intro that is great for beginners and culinary experts alike. Pay attention during her review of recipes though, because the rest of the class will be sharing your dish when you are done preparing it. The kitchen environment allowed for plenty of room for six people in our class to both cook and move around safely as well as plenty of preparation knives, cutting boards, measuring and mixing bowls, A beautiful set of all clad cookware and a gorgeous Viking 6 top gas grill. If you're concerned that it needs to be a professional kitchen for classes I'd say she and her husband setup the kitchen in a professional manner. My wife and I absolutely loved our date night, the prep work together and with the other classmates, and the food to top it off was awesome! My advice to this : Be hungry- there will be a ton of food to enjoy! Bring wine :) Take notes so you can make the dishes again at home. Thank you Maggie!

She taught us not just how to cook, but how to prep, basic knife handling, and an interesting way to prepare garlic. The first part of the class we all sat with our recipes and watched Maggie in the kitchen while she explained everything. Then we split into groups of 2 and tackled one recipe for each group. When we were done, our reward was the amazing food we cooked! Every dish complimented the others spectacularly. I cannot wait to make these again at home. Thank you Maggie for a lovely evening!

This was my first and last cooking class for Sur La Table. This experience was a gift from a friend…read moreso I felt obligated to stay. Overall, this had weird and unpleasant vibes. TERRIBLE INSTRUCTOR * Even after addressing that a majority of the class were new, the instructor kept speed-reading through steps. * When students asked her to repeat steps, she sounded inconvenienced. * When a student was slower than others, she would laugh or sigh loudly then talk about it with her assistants. * When the instructor asked students about the flavor and some didn't like it, she got offended. * At one point, the instructor was rushing steps and leaving some students behind, eyeing people down and being overtly impatient by going to other students that were fine on their own. * When talking about allergens in food, she kept dismissing people and insisting the dish needed it, which felt insensitive. * When people mentioned the room was too noisy and we couldn't hear instructions, she visibly looked annoyed. I'd recommend a headset and sound system for the room so everyone can hear instructions. FOOD TASTED MEDIOCRE * When a student mentioned that there wasn't a lot of flavor in the dish, she misunderstood this as "you didn't put enough (spiciness)". No, this is lacking other spices. It's bland. It's the same blandness as just salt on chicken. This is a dish I've made before and have had multiple times at authentic restaurants. Even without the (spiciness) element at said restaurants, this iteration was gross and bland. It felt modified for consumers that don't like Thai flavors. TERRIBLE SETUP * Near the end of the class, four pans on high heat were right next to each other on the burner. This meant that a group of people were cheek-to-cheek and elbow-to-elbow while cooking on high. It would have made more sense to have a heat plate at each station, or have the groups cut in half (or two stations' ingredients combined) to prevent crowding. * When cooking in the kitchen with a crowd of people, we were asked to put metal dishes next to machines that were taking up more than half of the counter, which made it more crowded. It felt disorganized. * The class was estimated to take 2-3 hours and it only took 1 hour since they kept rushing us. It was already a big red flag when the instructor said that Trader Joe's food is so flavorful... but her pretentious and condescending attitude made the class very unpleasant. I wouldn't recommend this if you're new to cooking and or trying to learn a new recipe. There are more friendly chefs and instructors out there.
