We absolutely love Phoenix Jiu-Jitsu! My 5-year-old looks forward to class and always leaves with a huge smile. I really like Phoenix Jiu-Jitsu. I just moved to Roseville and was looking for a place to train and everyone here is so nice and friendly. This Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school is in Rocklin but it's really close to where I live. Everyone is so nice but at the same time they all kicked my ass, in a safe and friendly way. I can see how jiujitsu can be really good for you to learn. I can't wait to be good at it. I met some really small and young people who moved like crazy and had crazy technique. Some much smaller person was able to beat up a much bigger person. And everyone was having a good time. I'm a complete beginner and I feel like I already belong here. My family has been with Infinite for more than 2 years now. I stopped in at a couple other BJJ schools in the area at first and I won't say anything bad about them. However, the details of instruction and the friendliness of everyone at Infinite, from the owner to beginners, is unmatched. Gustavo (owner/instructor) continues to compete and master his own craft while stressing the importance of technique over brute force to students. I appreciate this approach as an older practitioner, especially after training overseas at an MMA gym which had the opposite mentality. Gustavo is also supportive of kids and adults who want to compete and does his best to be mat-side with them at tournaments. I trained at Infinite Jiu-Jitsu for a week while staying in the Sacramento area. The first thing that struck me about this place is how friendly everyone is. People starting introducing themselves to me the second I walked in the door. Even when I started stretching alone on the mats people walked up, shook my hand and asked me where I was from and how long I would be training here. The gym has a huge mat space and was always brightly lit from big windows which gives it a pleasant atmosphere. Most of my classes were taught by the head instructor Gustavo. He is an excellent teacher and leads a well thought out class. The whole week we worked on passing de la riva. He broke down several variations on passing and gave us plenty of time to drill. I appreciate his laid back and calm demeanor, he was always happy to explain in more detail if the class had questions. While training here I got to meet many great people and have many tough rolls. I would recommend that anyone living or traveling in the area should try a class at Infinite. read more

I have been training at Infinite Jiu Jitsu for two years and for me it has been a life changing experience. I walked into Professor Gustavo's academy based on a recommendation from a friend. I was working in the Sacramento area and was looking for the a place to train for a few days while I was in town. I came in to class early and got to watch the end of the kids class. The kids class was very well run and some of the kids were already so technical it was kinda scary. The adults class started with a nice warm up to get the blood flowing and a good mix of fundamental movements. Next came technique which we got a chance to work with our training partners with little to no resistance. After drilling technique, then it was time for sparring. I had the opportunity over two days to train and roll with various students and I was very happy to discover such a great training and learning environment. Everyone was very welcoming and there's a great family atmosphere in the gym. If you are in the area, I definitely recommend stopping through and checking out this academy. I started jiu jitsu to get back in shape after gaining an extra 30-40lbs. I was hesitant to start at first thinking I needed to get in better shape before starting. The first week is free so I decided to check it out to see if I could physically do it being out of shape and if I would actually like it. As parents our biggest fear is having our children stolen. That almost happened to me with my 7 year old daughter. After talking with Roseville PD, family and friends I was still feeling hopeless as a mother that I can't be everywhere to protect my daughter. So emailed Professor Gustavo and within mins he called me. I was searching for guidance and tools to give her to protect herself and learn how to spot strangers and what to do if it were to ever happen again. As I told him my situation tears filled my eyes. I know he could feel my heart breaking as a mom scared for her child. He invited me to bring my daughter and come to a class just so he could talk with her and help. He never once tried to sell me on anything he just wanted to help. After I got off the phone I could feel my heart telling me to go and see what Jiu Jitsu was all about. That was the best decision I could have ever made as a parent. He took my daughter and showed her some moves and brought her into his class like one of his own. He sat down with the entire class and talked about strangers and safety. At the end of class he gave my daughter a hug and never once asked me for anything. His heart was showing so true and pure we left with smiles and feeling safe again. I can't tell you why I choose to email Infinite Jiu Jitsu but I can tell you that it was meant to be. So, I spent the last three days visiting Sac and dropping in to train at Infinite. It's been amazing. Everyone is very welcoming and respectful. I like how they bow in and bow out. Prof. Gustavo is an extremely knowledgeable black belt and his teaching method is very approachable. There's a lot of color in the room. Classes are 1-1/2 hours with the last 1/2hr reserved for live rolls. And the live rolls were great too, good pace, no one trying to kill anyone. I've trained a little nogi in the past and moved from out of the area, after doing some research I found the best BJJ school in the entire Sacramento/Placer area. Why I love to train at Infinite Jiu Jitsu. 1. Great workout--burn fat, build muscle, and increase flexibility. I started BJJ about 4 months ago, I have lost 10 pounds (and counting) and can lift much more weight at the gym. BJJ is also so much fun (wayyyyyyy better than running in place on the treadmill). The warm ups are fun too--I mean, where else do I get to do backwards somersaults? 2. Best stress reliever ever! Who knew being arm barred and squeezed by a triangle could make you feel so good I leave every class COMPLETELY relaxed. It is amazing--better than a massage. 3. Awesome atmosphere! Everyone I have met at Infinite Jiu Jitsu has been super encouraging. I am a complete klutz by nature and am pretty sure I am slower learner than most. No one has ever made me feel embarrassed or I like I don't belong. All of the upper belts are terrific about giving their time teaching us white belts. 4. The professor Mr. Gustavo, is the real deal--he is a three-time world champion. He is very passionate about the sport and is an excellent teacher. 5. Self-Defense. I think ALL women should train in this sport. I feel much more confident that if I was attacked I would not freeze or curl up in a helpless ball. I highly doubt I could win a fight with a large male attacker at this time, but I do believe I could survive. 6. Improved Coping Skills and Ability to Handle Stress. While I have definitely improved my physical fitness over the past four months, I also believe that my mental fitness has improved as well. I am very perfectionistic by nature. BJJ has forced me out of my comfort zone. I have gotten very comfortable with being uncomfortable. I have learned that I can be absolutely terrible at something and if I continue to try and work at it, I can improve. It is refreshing to laugh at myself and learn from my mistakes. 7. My two boys are in the kids' class and they love it as well! I would have to write a whole dissertation to describe how great training at Infinite Jitsu has been for them as well. read more
