Prices are moderate here, the people are friendly, appointments are fairly easy to get, and parking is convenient to their office. The actual acupuncture seems a little iffy to me. They provide comfortable lounge type chairs that aren't really amenable to a 'complete' back treatments and some of the needles tend to fall out easily. They are not bad though. read more

A relaxing and therapeutic experience. I love that they offer ear plugs, water, and anything they can do to make you feel more at ease. They have a one on one approach even though you are sitting in the room with other people. Truly calming experience and when your treatment is over, you wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go. Mayo is a true healer. This review is late in coming but I went to see Mayo for acupuncture for over 2 years to deal with my stress, anxiety, headaches and GI issues. I always felt so much better afterwards and really hate that I moved so far away. Acupuncture works and after awhile I got so comfortable even in the community setting that I would fall asleep and wake myself up snoring. Snoring is normal here, so if it bugs you bring earplugs haha. She has blankets as well and does other modalities. The music is soothing and the atmosphere relaxing. Everyone minds their own business and it still feels private. Make sure if you do acupuncture you go to someone like Mayo who has years under her belt and went through specialized training as acupuncture can be dangerous in the wrong hands. 100% recommend. I was experiencing some severe lower back pain that was shooting down my left leg after an unfortunate sneeze on Monday, leaving it difficult to stand, walk, really anything. Which sucked when it was only 5 days before we were moving out of state, leaving all the work up to my husband. I was desperate and terrified of chiropractors since a previous experience with chiropractic left me getting lower back surgery when I was 17. I had never tried acupuncture and so glad I went to see Mayo! I saw her every day for 3 days and within an hour or 2 of my appointments, I was up and about with little to no problems (didn't push the bending or lifting)! It would stiffen up again over night but each morning became easier and easier to deal with until Frday night when my back popped ALOT and Saturday morning I woke up with only light pain that some stretching cured. She even went as far as finding other acupuncturists that she personally knows in the area that I am moving to! I got acupuncture here for the first time last week. It was a terrific experience! Simple process, great pricing. They have an August special right now, 5 treatments for $65. This is a great deal considering traditional acupuncture will cost that much for one session. After filling out a simple intake form I was told to take my seat in the treatment room. There were 12 comfortable zero gravity type chairs set up with people relaxing, most were sleeping. The room was dimly lit & relaxing with quite music playing. I sat down and relaxed and soon Maya came in and looked over my intake, spoke briefly with me and inserted the needles. I relaxed for about 45mins, she came back, removed the needles, & gave me a suggestion of how frequently to get treatments. I highly recommend making an appt before going in. While I was filling out my paperwork several people came in without one and there was over an hour wait. The website is easy to use and there are many appt times available if you book a few days in advance. You can also book reoccurring appointments. The atmosphere is very serene with low lighting, aromatherapy, soothing music and reclining chairs. You can schedule a treatment by yourself or go in with friends/family. You can also just drop-in during Mayo's hours of operation, if you happen to be in the area. I plan to bring a couple friends with me next time. It is a community concept clinic, which means you are likely to see other people there getting treatment (you don't have to talk to others getting treatment, but if they are just starting or just ending their treatment, feel free to say hi). Today I met a yoga instructor who teaches at one of the top yoga studios in town. The sliding scale is awesome because it allows you to determine what is affordable to you, from $15-35 per treatment. I was dealing with a shoulder injury. A friend of mine suggested acupuncture as a possible relief. I was a bit of a skeptic but decided to give it a chance anyway. April my sweetheart found a groupon special. I decided to take advantage and go check it out. I was greeted, filled out a questionnaire which included a long list of ailments. I was then escorted to a back room where there were several chairs covered in white sheets. There were several people being treated. There was soft sound scape music playing. Mayo, my acupuncturist pulled out a pack of needles (still in the plastic wrapping) explained the sensations I might experience and did her work. I lay back in my chair and nearly fell asleep for about an hour. By the time the session was completed, the severe discomfort I had at the beginning of my session was completely gone. I was AMAZED! I've been to chiropractors and masseuses and have never experienced such a notable instantaneous improvement after one session. I truly recommend Phoenix Community Acupuncture. PCA has a sliding pay scale it starts at $10.00 to $35.00, it's up to you what you chose to pay. I usually pay $20.00 per visit. You may set an appointment if you like but walk ins are welcome. I'm afraid people won't believe my review is real if I give PCA five stars, but I HAVE to. Mayo and Nicole are the best! It's always great to see Erin at the desk when I walk in the door. Everyone makes me feel so welcome and comfortable. I've tried acupuncture before, at a few different locations, including another community space in another state. I was never into it. This time I was hooked immediately. I've been going 2-3x per week for about two months now, and my visits to PCA are the best parts of my week! It has helped me immensely with chronic pain, fatigue, and stomach problems. Mayo and Nicole are both very gentle. I've been poked by other acupuncturists that seemed a bit heavy handed. It wasn't pleasant. Here, it's easy and relaxing. I've never felt so relaxed as I do when I'm receiving a treatment here. I don't feel groggy after, as I usually do when I get other bodywork (massages, etc.). I am able to totally bliss out. I don't even notice there are other people in the room after a few minutes. Everyone is just there doing their own thing, not paying attention to anyone else, so it doesn't seem strange to be treated in one space. As many people do, I find it hard to carve out time in my schedule to just focus on myself. If I try to meditate at home, I get distracted by dishes that need to be done, laundry that needs to be put away, and so on. When I come here, I feel like I'm meditating, without having to work so hard for it. I'm doing something just for me, and it requires no effort aside from showing up. It's my "me-time." It's a bonus that it's helping my body heal while I just lie there and relax. It seems like the best possible use of my time. I wish I had gone sooner. I didn't think I could afford acupuncture regularly enough to benefit, but with the sliding scale, I can afford to go multiple times per week. It's amazing and my quality of life has improved so much. If you are referred by someone (with a referral card) your paperwork fee is waived and they receive $5 toward their next treatment. I found out about the sliding fee schedule of $15-$35 a session and thought I would give it a try. As others have noted this is a community clinic so there are 12 recliners set up in a room together. The atmosphere is super relaxed and many people just fall asleep during their treatment. May is a gentle soul and really listens to your problems and comes up with a realistic treatment plan for you. Since acupuncture has a cumulative effect it is best to go 1-2 times a week. Getting an appt. is easy and they do take walk- in's as well. I have told my doctors about this place so that more people can be treated and cost doesn't have to be the reason you don't at least try acupuncture. If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would. Mayo does so much for you on your very first visit, mind, body and soul. From the moment you walk in, Erin makes sure you are taken care of, educates you on what to expect, and shows you the rules. In the lobby, they have chinese herbs for sales, information on alternative medicine, and cool Svarski ear buds for sale. You can pay cash, check, or cards (but look online for restrictions, sometimes they do a donation and will only accept cash or check). Also, book online, spots go quickly even when you are on the phone with them. Plan to wear something easy for Mayo to get to your trouble spots if you have issues with your upper back or neck. I often will wear a button down shirt I take off with a tank top underneath so she can get to my back and points there. The sliding slide makes it nice. On donation days, I usually give more. The lounge is full of nice recliners, serene wall displays and lights, zen music and restful and sleepy acupunctured people. Very conducive to healing, the chi is off the charts, which is the whole goal. I always try to take a few referral cards home with me to give to others. I have some new issues I want to work thru, and Mayo, although very busy, always takes time to listen to you, check in and truly cares for each and everyone. This totally works, and is almost euphoric after your session is done. I recommend this to everyone. I recently moved to Phoenix and was referred to the clinic by a fellow allergy sufferer. I've never had acupuncture before, so I was pretty nervous, especially about the community setting.
