Saturday night dinner with friends and family. A couple from Amery suggested this place as a meeting point for a get together meal. First time I've been at the new location. To me it was a place with an identity issue. The place is a combination ballroom, sports bar and north woods supper club. Looks to be a popular spot for locals, and wedding receptions. The only issue with the setting in the dining room was the noise. Very loud with the high wooden cathedral type ceiling (i.e. think north woods supper club). When the food came out on square plates I thought of "small plate bistros" with the only thing missing was the squiggly lines of sauce on the plate. No problem with the server or service, we were well attended to. Food was OK, entrees were; large sirloin, salmon, walleye and special arctic char but nothing really stood out. Portions were normal sized so if you're looking for a "heap of food" it isn't going to be happening. Price was reasonable. read more

Great place for lunch or dinner! Wood fired pizzas with a crispy crust are great, and their cheese bread is to die for. Feel like a bit more on the entree side? They have that too! I highly advise you try the spicy shrimp appitizer (the name of it escapes me currently). It is a spin off of Bone-Fish grill's Bang Bang Shrimp. Seriously, they are like crack. They use Gulf shrimp (not that import crap) which are huge, and taste delicious, then lightly battered, and tossed in the spizy sauce, topped with green onions. The burgers are pretty bang'n, and tons of various sauces to top your sandwiches with, pretty much anything for any palet. They have really expanded the place, and have a nice salt water tank in the middle of the dining room. Pretty much every time I have been there, the owner has been making the rounds to ensure everything is up to standards. Staff are friendly and informative of nightly specials. If anything, the only change I would make would be to offer regular onions, not just red onions with the dish's, as not everyone is a fan of the red onion flavor. Went there with a friend for the first time. I would have to say the service was perfect! The bartender check on us couple of times seeing if we are ok, not ignoring us. Very polite. We order wings. They're amazing! The whole atmosphere is welcoming. Very clean and put together. Would for sure come back to this restaurant in a heart beat. The atmosphere is great but the prices are way too high considering the area and service. Service is hit or miss. There are two very friendly efficient waitresses but the others are slow and not very friendly. I've also noticed that the food is way too spicy ..... the salad selection is subpar and the menu could use an update on choices. I will say the burgers are wonderful along with the ribs. read more

My sister just had her wedding reception here. We were very happy with service and food. I'm terrible with names, but I need to give about outs to the bar tender, and the waitress that was designated to our party. They were very attentive, and were very friendly. We also met Quinn the owner which was refreshing, he made sure to tell us that if we needed anything he was there to help. I would recommend for a large party, or just a beer at the bar. We love the Phoenix. Every time we come the service is great. The servers are personable and really helpful when you aren't sure what to get. That is hard because their menu is huge!!! Great apps, pricing is good for the portion sizes. My favorite part of this place is the ambiance. It really feels like you are hanging out at home, booths are comfy and large - also feeling private. The fish tank is a nice touch. I really like their small banquet room for parties, it is a rustic vibe. We have yet to check out the patio bar this summer. read more

I love Phoenix bar and grill. During rush hours they run a little slow and are not always looking that friendly, but I have never had problems with any of the waitresses or kitchen staff. Plus it is a restaurant, if it is during a rush period you cannot expect to get your food right away like during slow hours! if you want ten minute or less food service during rushes then go to McDonald's. If you want great food with friendly service and your in the Baldwin area, go to Phoenix Bar and Grill. If you see the owners Quinn and Susan do not be afraid to say hi and joke around. Written 3-9-2011 On a whim we drove to Baldwin last week with friends -- a good chance to talk in the car on the way over, in the restaurant while there, and in the car on the way back. The Fire Shrimp were as outstanding as the first time I had them in October. This time we were on a specific mission to try the ribs. We split a rack and brought half a rack home for next day enjoyment. Quinn Johnson's raspberry chipotle sauce for the ribs is excellent! Really good. The "regular" sauce is--meh! Sweet. Too sweet. Quinn, what the hell are you thinking? The ribs were meaty and fall-off-the-bone tender and I was assured that they are not boiled before saucing. Can't wait to go back for the same - Fire Shrimp and ribs. It'll be a good place to meet friends who live in Chippewa Falls. read more

The staff and food at The Phoenix are top notch. There is nothing average about this place. There is a personal twist to almost every item on the menu that separates it from other restaurants. As first timers in Baldwin for the weekend this place was recommended by our host and we really enjoyed it!!! So much so, that we stopped back in for lunch before we left town 2 days later. The fried cheese curds are insanely delicious- like funnel cake batter stuffed with ooey gooey cheese goodness! My boyfriend got the 1/2 rack of ribs with the raspberry bbq sauce. They were so tender, they fell right off the bone and the sauce was delicious. I had the chicken sammich with a side of buffalo sauce that delivered with the heat and backed it up with great flavor. I thought the cole slaw was tasty and the french fries were average. On our second trip I had the Phoenix Alfredo and it was creamy and delicious. However the bread stick was the stand out of the meal. It was crispy fried or something and tasted like a doughnut! More please. My boyfriend's chicken wrap was huge and even tasted great 3 hours later at the airport. We sat at the bar the first time and the bartender was sweet but not very knowledgeable about the beer. Phoenix is a great place to eat! The food is all made from scratch, along with all of their sauces. My favorites are the Southwest salad, Crispy Chicken sandwich, the Phoenix BBQ Burger, and the deep fried green beans. You really can't go wrong!! The service is always friendly and inviting. It gets a little busy on the weekends (for good reason!) So I suggest stopping in during the week. :) read more

Went to eat and listen to music on the patio. Service was terrible. Waitress filled my coke once in 30 min and i sat with an empty plate for 15 min as she served the other tables around us. The food may have been good but I couldnt taste it through the cigarette smoke from the five smokers at the table next to us. Our first time at the Phoenix Bar & Grill and we are very pleased and will definitely return to try other selections. Tonight I had the special which was Corvina "a sea bass type" fish. It was delicious! My husband had the fish fry. Four huge pieces of fish! Crispy and tasty. The cole slaw had a good flavor but seemed tired instead of fresh. I thought the prices were very good for the quantity and quality. The service was fine and the parking lot was packed! Definitely try it if you are near by. read more

We stopped by here based on the Yelp score and were not disappointed! They have wonderful food, and it was definitely worth the U turn we had to make. The Ruben was so good and perfect in every way. Great food, great service, but, I do not like getting a dirty beer glass. When you order a beer it should be served in a clean glass. Also, I think when you order a Spotted Cow it should NOT be served in a dirty Miller glass. You need to get new glasses. read more

Last Saturday we brought our 8th grade basketball team and all the parents to The Phoenix. I had called to say we were bringing a large group and we arrived 20 min later to a room all set up for us. We informed our waitress Trisha that we were on a tight schedule and she was amazing! We were done and off to our game with plenty of time to spare. Our food all came out at the same time and everything arrived hot and delicious! She split all the checks for us without any confusion. With a group that large I would expect some mistakes made on orders etc. but everything was spot on. I would surely recommend The Phoenix to everyone and hope our team gets over to that neck of the woods again because we would definitely be back! read more

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. We've eaten here 6 times now. Each time I ordered something different. Each time, the food was incredible. The "Phish" tacos are my favorite. Service is prompt and efficient. Servers are friendly and know their stuff. They make the best Lemon Drop Martinis I've ever had, and I've tried dozens of other places. Hubby, son and I came for dinner last weekend, and we will be back! The décor is really fun, and my young son thoroughly enjoyed the aquarium the entire time (cool assortment of unique fish, and the aquarium is HUGE)! The burgers were all yummy, and arrived quickly after ordering. I had the bacon cheeseburger, and the bacon was perfectly crispy. The burger itself was juicy and thick. Our server provided excellent service and was very patient with us. There are areas that are more open, better for family, and more private areas for couples. read more

We have had our last meal here. First we were seated outside but because of the wind we asked if we could move inside. No problem as our waitress moved us to a high top in the bar area. We hadn't been there 2 minutes and a different waitress comes over and in a poor tone tells us we can't sit there. We explain that we did not just sit here our waitress moved us here. Finally our waitress comes over and the poor communicating waitress tells us we have to move because she has a party of 8 that have to sit right here because she was going to push 2 tables together there. Since every other table in the area was empty except for 1 it seemed strange that we needed to move as she could have pushed 2 tables together anywhere. OK, whatever. We get some boneless wings and a pizza. The boneless wings gets them the 2 stars as they are good, but the pizza wasn't even close. It was supposed to have caramelized onions on it and they were at least 30 minutes from being anywhere near caramelized. We have had poor service here before and the food is either hit or miss so we are done which is too bad. We keep wanting and hoping they will get things straightened out but quite honestly if you cook that inconsistent you just don't care. If you sit at the bar it's like you are inconveniencing them to get another drink. This place is just WAY too inconsistent especially when there are plenty of places that do care. read more

I had the opportunity to dine at the new location while in town visiting my parents last week. Our server, Jenna, was highly attentive and friendly. She took our order promptly but without making us feel rushed in reviewing the menu, which I thought had a nice variety of fare. We each ordered a different burger: bacon cheeseburger, mushroom burger, and the Stevie Ray (the latter was my selection). My mom noted that the seasoning on her burger (mushroom) was excellent, and both parents commented on the high quality of the beef. I love a good blue cheese burger, and with the added provolone, the Stevie Ray did not disappoint. Upgrading the side to seasoned fries cost only one dollar, and it was easily worth it; they're fabulous. Perfectly crispy outside and soft inside, the way fries should be - not dried out, greasy nor undercooked. Note: I requested a side of buffalo sauce, as I like the combination of buffalo sauce and blue cheese on burgers. The buffalo sauce is, as warned on their menu, HOT...and it was a beautiful thing. It's not a traditional buffalo sauce, but is kind of smokey - and that should not be construed as a negative statement. It was so good that I was mopping up with my fries the portion of the sauce that didn't make it onto my burger. If they bottled it for sale, I'd have shipped some home. Seriously, that good. I have no grounds for comparison of their new building with the prior, but I like the decor in this one, which is a combination of wood and stone, as well as a large saltwater aquarium. Next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely stop in again. My mom said the Cajun fire pasta is outstanding, so I've put it on my to-do list. = ) read more

I really want to like this place, especially because it is the only sit down nice restaurant in town. Service is always good, but the food is always so salty! I love my salt, so when I say something is too salty, it is beyond. I ordered a grilled cheese and tomato soup today, took a few bites of the soup and had to throw it out. Wow what a horrible experience. We walked in and waited for a table the host was on the phone with his back to us. We decided to go eat in the bar and all tables said reserved the waitress said sit anywhere they were not really reserved and we should have checked in at the hostess station. We ordered food and didn't get a kids menu. She didn't even offer my son milk that came free with the meal. I ordered a well done hamburger and told them that they can even cut it open to make sure it was done. It was as black and as hard as a hockey puck. They say they use fresh beef there is no way you could have grilled that hamburger fresh and burnt it that bad. The menu didn't look all that good either it looked like they were to fancy for a small town restaurant. The bacon cheeseburger was $11 for 1/4 patty and no fries, instead you get chips. If you wanted fries they dont have regular fries they are seasoned and $1 more. I would hate to know how the other food tastes if you can't even grill a hamburger or make regular french fries. The waitress was also very rude. I personally will not be going back to this dump. read more

I was part of a large group of young hockey players, coaches and parents who ate at the Phoenix Bar & Grill in Baldwin WI recently. This restaurant has doubled it's size since we were there last year. Now they have a private room which accommodated us nicely. Our waitress was pleasant, efficient and very adept at handling this large crowd. Our team members are in the age 11 area and she managed to satisfy all their requests as well as the needs of the adults. We were all very happy with our food and our service and will not only go back there when we are in the neighborhood again, but highly recommend the restaurant. Christine B. read more
