Aug 25, 2025 I was at Radiology associates on August 14th of…read more2025 for an Arterial Doppler to be done which was ordered by my healthcare provider. Turns out Radiology associates does not do this ultrasound test, but they took my "vague assessment" that the provider gave them, and decided that they could do a totally different test and bill it to my insurance company. Radiology associates did not contact my provider to let them know they do not do Arterial doppler's . and when I came in for the test they did not tell me, that they do not do Arterial doppler's. The ultrasound director just decided that there was "another test" they could do instead, much more complicated and very uncomfortable for me as a patient, and I'm sure it was more money for them and according to them, they were able to "bill it to my insurance company." Radiology associates was committing Fraud in doing a different test than was ordered by my healthcare provider, and not telling them that they could not do the test ordered by that provider. Not telling me that they were not doing an Arterial Doppler, was UNETHICAL. I didn't know what they were doing, I've never had an Arterial Doppler done before! They demanded a co-pay, they sent out a bill to my insurance company, and when I found out what they had done, I immediately contacted them and said I wanted my co-pay back, and the insurance company was going to be notified by me that the test ordered was not done. Now I'm waiting 13 days later, they tell me to call the 3rd party billing office regarding where my refund was, and the billing office knew nothing about a refund. they said they needed 6 days to INVESTIGATE this refund and then they would get back to me! In the meantime I have to go to a different physician's office TOMORROW to get the Arterial Doppler done that was ordered, and pay another co-pay to that physician's office for this test and I don't have all this money to be paying for tests that were done, that shouldn't have been done, and I'm furious! They refuse to send me ANYTHING IN WRITING OF COURSE, SHOWING THEIR CULPABILITY. So, make sure when you go to Radiology Associates in Tallahassee Florida, that you are getting the test that your health care provider ordered, and not some other "billable test" that they feel like doing, in order to get some money in their pocket!

I'll start off by saying that I've been told Radiology Associates do a good job reading scans,…read morewhich is obviously important. There isn't much else they do well, though. I need CT scans every six months to make sure my cancer hasn't reappeared. My scan was good last July, so my oncologist placed an order for another one in January. When I saw my oncologist a week ago, I said that I still hadn't heard anything from Radiology Associates about the CT scan. She placed the order again. Today I realized it had been a week and I still hadn't heard from them, so I called their central number and chose the automated option to schedule an appointment. I waited a pretty long time on hold. When my call was finally answered, the scheduler had no problem finding my records but said that there was no order for me. I named my oncologist and told her the order had been sent twice. She put me back on hold for quite a while. When she came back the second time, she said that she had found the order -- and, indeed, my oncologist had placed it twice. Okay, so why has no one called me to make an appointment? She started looking for appointments in February because she said I had a follow-up appointment on February 14. That isn't true: I do not have any follow-up appointment set because we're waiting for that CT scan, and I pointed out that the odds of having a follow-up appointment on Saturday seem pretty low. The scheduler agreed that seemed unlikely. She therefore asked me when I thought the appointment should be. I said I was told back in July that it would be in January. She therefore offered me an appointment in late January at 3:00 in the afternoon. Okay, I appreciate that she tried to get me in before the end of the month, but I can't eat before this scan, so 3:00 is pretty late in the day. She found a more suitable time in early February and said she added a note that this was at "patient's request," as though this later-than-expected scan was fundamentally my fault. I'll spare you the other minor issues about her mixing up days and the exact tests I'm getting. I really think she was doing her best, but her best was not especially good. The fundamental problem is that this place is like the Bermuda Triangle for test orders: this has happened to me enough times that I am no longer surprised when Radiology Associates drops the ball. At least this time it's just a routine scan that presumably will show I'm healthy, whereas in the past they lost the order for my scan prior to a long and difficult surgery, which was literally a life-and-death issue. I use Radiology Associates because I have to, not because I want to.
