It's the first Friday that this restaurant is open. My husband and I have been waiting for pho to come to Jacksonville!! There was only one gentleman seating guests and another running food. The gentleman seating guests did not apologize for the delay or acknowledge that there was a sea of people waiting to be seated. We were finally seated and I asked for a mango bubble tea and the gentleman said that they didn't have it available. My husband asked for a tea and that was also unavailable. Only water because he was too busy. We agreed to the water and waited another 15 minutes before it was brought to the table. As we waited more people would walk in and wait at the door unsure whether to seat themselves or wait to be seated. Some parties would get tired of waiting and just leave. I understand being short staffed, but not communicating with your customers is very off putting. On the other hand: this pho ga was worth the 30 min wait! Returned today after craving for pho for a few months! Drove an hour to come to this place, and was HIGHLY disappointed! First of all, the booths were so uncomfortable because it all sunk in. We changed three booths, and they were all so uncomfortable, and at last we had to move to a table. Then the server we had was So UNPLEASANT!!! She took our orders with a straight face, brought out our order, and NEVER came back to check on us. No service at all, we still tipped her because the food was okay. And lastly, the portion was WAY TOO SMALL! I ordered a small because I wasn't too hungry. But the small was actually REALLY SMALL! It was a tini bowl with 5 pieces of meatball float on top, and a poor little portion of noodle. With 3 pieces of the onion! That's it, and it was $8.99 before tax. This was the smallest portion and the most I've ever had to pay for a small size pho like the one I had! You do not get your money worth here.... This is a very, very good pho place considering we are in Jacksonville. Having come from two states that have a myriad of fantastic cuisine available, I was skeptical about trying this place. My only regret is that I didn't come sooner. Every time we have come here (my husband and myself), we have been seated immediately in a lovely booth. We prefer booth seating, as we can each enjoy a large cushioned seat to ourselves. Our waiter (or waitress) always arrives promptly and takes our drink order. We have never waited long for our drinks to arrive and have never had empty drink cups, as the staff always keeps us refilled before we have to ask. The food portions are generous. The small pho is more than enough for one hungry person, and the large is perfect if you feel like you could eat a horse. My husband isn't a fan of "adventurous" food, so he always orders the chicken and rice. The chicken is so tender and juicy, flavored with an amazing marinade that goes perfectly with the rice. He always has leftovers, and that is saying something since he can eat a lot. My pho is always with a meat, not seafood, option. I just like what I like. It is always delicious, and I love that there is the option to add more noodles or more meat to the meal. The herbs and sauces available for mixing are perfect, and the broth is flavorful. Honestly, I'm thrilled with this place. My favorite thing is that it isn't overrun with other customers and that we can always be seated right away. Tempted as I am to keep this place just to myself, the staff and food is too good not to share. I see this place has got an average number of stars that is less than the number I am giving them. That's okay. I have different standards I hold restaurants to. While I enjoy some fancier foods, I don't think eating and comparing all foods is possible or even fair. I didn't think Jacksonville would harbor Vietnamese restaurants let alone the awesome quality of food that we had today. Veggie spring roll vermicelli - off the hook! Their version of tofu banh mi sandwiches - delicious (bread is fresh). Our friends had other beef/chicken/tofu dishes from pho to steamed rice plates - all were extremely satisfied and pleased with the quantity and quality of food. The interior of this restaurant is very dated but still has a comfortable feel to it. The food is mediocre at best compared to any location with a vibrant Vietnamese community, but for Jacksonville it is a nice change from the regular assortment. I wish I didn't have to temper my reviews to the area, but for Jacksonville standards this place is decent...it will hit the spot on that cold winter day when you are craving some pho. However, if you consider yourself a foodie...don't get too excited...the pho broth is way too sweet and the taste of star anise is extremely prevalent. I've tried the bun...stay away...seriously iceberg lettuce in bun?!? The herbs are also hit and miss sometimes extremely fresh other times not so much. Right now, I'm at 3 stars because the pho was worth the slow service. The restaurant opened earlier this week, but today was a forecasted cold day and my off day, so naturally I ordered a regular bowl of meatball pho. I also ordered the egg rolls and Boba Thai Iced Tea. It was, like I said, worth the wait. They actually forgot my Thai Iced Tea :( Which I had to remind them. Currently they only have one server and one busser. And one lady that kinda helps out with taking orders. They are hiring though, hopefully they fill those positions soon. Courteous, welcoming staff. Decent appearance and comfortable ambiance with dark carpeted dining room and not-overdone Asian themed decor. Service was fast and the pho was good - comparable to what I've had at well regarded places in Phoenix. My 90 yo mother was quite wary and didn't really want to try it, but was pleasantly surprised, ate way more than the tiny taste she reluctantly assented to try, and thoroughly enjoyed. Bonus points for her: her stomach was settled and she did not experience esophageal discomfort that night for the first time after a number of consecutive night's discomfort. Beef rice noodle soup with thin sliced beef steak slices for me; Chicken for her. Came with basil, bean sprouts, rice noodles, jalopeno peppers, onion, and I think cilantro to add to the broth as you please. Was surprised that my to-go beef came raw and ready to cook, but thin slices took only seconds to cook and the result was quite good. We got there at about 6:45, waited about 20 min to sit, finally ordered at about 7:20, got our food at about 8, and left at just about 9 when it was gonna close. Chicken pho is ridiculously good. Hubby had the fried rice and pork chop and that was Really good too! They just opened and are VERY understaffed but well worth it. I heard they only have 1 chef (poor guy or girl) so that's why food is slow too. They have boba tea, I ordered Mango, they said they were out and to try in the morning, so looks like I'm having pho for lunch tomorrow too :). I got a small and it filled me right up because the portions are super generous! I also got the Thai tea and definitely have no complaints! Everything here is incredibly good. My brother got the mixed noodle bowl and couldn't even finish it even though it was so good! We kept eating for what seems like ages and didn't even make a dent. They have utensils on the table for you so it's very convenient and you don't even have to ask for sauce or anything because it's already there on the table! Just got here from San Diego and maybe my taste buds are still stuck in San Diego so i already knew the food here won't be as good as Southern California but that is no excuse for cleanliness 1) Cleanliness: i moved out booth because there was food splatters on the wall, only to sit down and realize there was food on the other wall as well. It was dimly lit and thank god because i could see silhouettes of crusted food on the tops of the vinyl booths, all of them. The bucket that holds the chopsticks was also dirty which made me not want to use the spoons that were in there. I appreciate the chopsticks being wooden and individually wrapped because if they weren't i would not have used anything out of that bucket. The bathroom walls looked like they hadn't been touched in a while either. It smells odd in here too, like how you'd expect a small apartment with a lot of pets to smell. I think it's safe to assume that when they "wipe down" the tables or any surface in here they use a wet rag that's only been dipped in hot water. And over time just hot water won't actually clean anything and cause this place to smell how it does. 2) The Food: i agree with other reviews, my pho broth tasted very artificial and very similar to the flavor packets in ramen noodles. The basil and sprouts and jalapenos they brought out looked very sickly and wilted, like they've been siting in whatever container they house them in for too long. 3) Service: i asked for shrimp spring rolls, got shrimp mixed with pork. Waitress was friendly though and they asked several times if we needed anything else, i would up the stars for their service but i can't, because of how bad everything else was. And it was the most I've ever paid for Pho. Anywhere. Including San Diego. read more

I actually was really happy when this place opened up. I'm from California and there's Pho restaurants everywhere there. When I got here I found out that to get a bowl of Pho I'd have to drive at least an hour and a half. The Pho is pretty good. My order is usually the beef Pho, spring rolls, and Thai tea. It's really good on cold days especially. Plus I get pretty full and don't have the guilt after leaving here.
