Another vietnamese place in Calgary. One of the better tasting ones with plenty of meat if you order #15 on the menu. Broth is clean and not greasy at all. I did find the broth a bit too salty though compared to other places. Service was friendly and the food came out really fast. It does tend to get really busy but since service is quite fast, there wasn't much of a wait for our table. They added tables to what looked like a waiting area which was a bit odd. We were seated there and if there was a wait, people would be watching you eat as it was right at the entrance. Overall, decent place that you can tell puts a lot of time into making their broth. read more

This place has really clean food. Presentation is good. Proteins are never charred too much unlike some other places. The size of the soup is generous for Small/Large/XL. They do not have satay here but they do have chili oil. I usually get the deluxe beef noodle soup. The other photo is chicken and prawns on rice. Would return! read more

First time ordering in on opening weekend and it was packed. Line up for take out and for dining in. Menu has lots of Pho choices and pricing is reasonable. Staff were friendly and looked stressed out but happy to help out customers. Had the pork and spring rolls with vermicelli noodles. Fish maw was good and overall I be trying it again. This is fourth location in Calgary and first large sit down for Pho for SE Calgary (on the new side that is). Overall you want Pho be sure to call or come early to enjoy less wait times. read more

This was our first time going to pho Hoan Is was alright nothing to write home about the customer service was great ! The staff was quick and helpful. The salad rolls were very good so was the peanut sauce the soup was a little oily and the broth to noodle amounts were off. I got the large which was a good size and my husband got 32E which he said the same there was to much noodles vs other toppings. I gave this location four stars basically on the quality of customer service being so good, the food was only a two to three star rating for me. 3.5 stars so I'm rounding it up. We came here on their opening day for dinner around 7pm. With multiple locations in Calgary, Edmonton and Fort Saskatchewan, I was surprised to see the restaurant in a bit of a disarray. There was no procedure setup to separate takeout and dine-in customers and it appears that they were seating people based on a first come first served bases. Unfortunately, they don't seem to keep track of who was here first. After about 15 mins of waiting we were finally seated. Menus came immediately and teas were served. The tea was very light but has a unique flavour that I can't quite pinpoint. We ordered our food and proceed to wait 45mins for our pho, bun and com dinner. Again, we understand it was opening night and the restaurant was packed but we did not expect to wait 45 mins for the food at a Vietnamese restaurant as they are normally much much faster. On the bright side, I had time to create this page for them. :) Pho, was quite decent! It had great flavour and was loaded with fresh meat. You can smell and taste all of the spices in their broth which was quite nice. This is definitely one of the better pho I've had in the Deep South. Rice vermicelli with grill pork and spring roll was a bit too sweet for us. We felt the pork marinate was on the sweeter side which was nice with the noodles without the fish sauce. However, with the fish sauce on the sweeter side too, we felt like we were eating candy. The spring roll tasted ok. Rice with grilled pork and fried eggs, was delicious. The pork was grilled perfectly. Overall, we were quite pleased with the everything we had and would likely come back. I'm confident that by tomorrow's service they will have some sort of a system in place so that waiting time will be reduced. read more

Another location has opened up, now in Mahogany. As with everything else that's opening in the plaza, it's crazy busy. This past weekend they were celebrating their grand opening and giving everyone an extra 10% off their orders, which I'm sure added to the hype. Everything about my dinner here last night was on par for Vietnamese in Calgary. We waited about 10 minutes for a table. I've never waited for a table at a Vietnamese place before but it's new, so it was expected. We were sat at a table right inside the door where there's only about 6 tables with the rest being on the other side of the restaurant. This area is good for groups as the tables are close together and can easily fit 12-14 people together. However, it's a little squishy for separate couples or families to enjoy dinner without bumping elbows. I went with the (#1) steak pho and my wife had her go-to (#32) grilled pork with spring roll bun. Both were average. The portions are a good size and for $30 for the two of us, the prices are good too. read more

4.5 Stars. First off, I am super picky with pho. The dish itself is pretty simple, so I believe it should be done right. The broth here was definitely up to standard! The portions were good, as well as the price. The service was pleasant as well, tea was brought right away and everything was done in a timely manner. I was super impressed by the cleanliness of this restaurant (though I know it's pretty new, so I guess this part may take some time to gauge properly). It's nice to see some Vietnamese cuisine in the Mahogany plaza since it's mostly Western food! I'll definitely be back and hope they don't change their prices/portions. They also had a few big tables (seats probably 8-10) for larger parties! There is plenty of parking in the plaza. read more

We tried out the Quarry Park location this time. The vermicelli meals we had were very, very good! I had the chicken, beef and spring rolls (2 came with it) and hubby had one similar but it also had a meatball and prawn. We both thoroughly enjoyed our dishes. We ordered takeout and the meals came out fast and presentation was beautiful. Freshly shredded lettuce with nary a brown spot in sight. That doesn't always happen at certain Vietnamese restaurants but this place really provided fresh looking and tasting food. Got home and sat in front of a movie on tv and savored every bite. The hubby and I usually go to the Quarry Park location, this review only reflects the Mahogany location. The food is great however if your looking for a quiet place to enjoy your meal this is not the location for you. I am not sure exactly how to accurately describe the noise level but If you can imagine multiple blenders, kitchen noise, screaming children and regular patron noise all balled up into one "pleasant" sound, that would be what you could fully expect. I ate in the restaurant about a month ago - and really thought I had found my new south Vietnamese restaurant. Unfortunately, my husband and I ordered take out tonight. It was absolutely terrible. My husband order 32F, he received a singular prawn, and the "meatball" tasted like a hot dog. Every piece of meat is chewy and fatty. We will NEVER order from here again. read more

Went there tonight with my family. Food was really good once we got it, but it took almost 25 minutes after we were seated before someone came to take our order for drinks and food. On the upside, tea was brought to the table with our menus right away. We did have to ask for glasses of water several times, and no cutlery was offered to us with our food (chop sticks are provided at the tables) - we had to get up from the table and seek out a server to ask for some. Serving staff were very polite when we interacted, just perhaps a bit understaffed, although the restaurant was only a bit under half full. Their coconut bubble tea is amazing (has both pearls and lychee jelly). Tried the #50 - onion cakes as an appetizer, and they were also terrific. Hopefully we just caught them on a bad night for service since going out for Vietnamese food is usually so quick. read more

Good pho for the south of Calgary. Kind of pricey considering it's almost $17 a bowl for XL.

Been there a handful of times and have not been let down. Tried a couple different pho bowls and so far the Beef peanut sate (48) is my favourite. The hot & sour seafood (46) is a close second. Go there for some tasty Vietnamese in the S.E. read more

I was never a fan of the quarry park location and its the same owners here. My pho broth was oily and the beef... The beef was slimy and doesn't cook, no matter how long you soak it in the hot soup. Beef is weird and disgusting. I've heard people got sick from eating here too. Thumbs all the way down for me. Even though I live 2km away from this place, I'll consider traveling further for a better pho restaurant, or I'll just make it at home. read more
