Jim's West competes solidly for the title of Best Cheesesteak Joint in Phialdephia. Larry's, Max's, Dalessandro's and Chubby's...it doesn't matter! Jim's West is guaranteed to give you a heavy cheesesteak at a good deal. Real Amoroso rolls, traditionally wrapped, they don't skimp on any ingredients, they have Kosher Hoagies, and the Steak is even Halal!! Alhamdulillah! You can't top that apart from variance of luck. They're the only place to have the Banana Pudding Special (best banana pudding too), they have great Strawberry Lemonade with real strawberries in it!....and if that's not enough to sweeten the pot, they're the only place that offers the maximum variety of Cheese Options. They have Cooper Sharp sure, but they also have Pepperjack like a couple of the others do, and are the *only* cheesesteak joint to still offer Swiss since the pandemic. Cheese Whiz: Hit Or Myth is one of my favorite newspaper articles because Whiz is trash and American is the Philadelphia Style default. But at Jim's, whiz is different. It doesn't make your cheesesteak taste like macaroni, or plastic. Whatever whiz they're using is more like cheddar and enhances the flavor of the meat much like Provolone does. You can get spinach and broccoli on your Chicken Cheesesteaks, I love this kind of variety and I'm already planning to try this when it's time fur my next visit. If you don't want the steak chopped finely, just ask them not to. If you want it cooked as lightly as possible, just tell them! They are nice here and they will hook you up! Otherwise they are very consistent, they virtually never give overcooked steak. You can see how closely they pay attention to the grill as they cook and they actively toss away burnt bits of steak. I went here twice a day for over a week straight and got steaks from each cook at least once!! I believe in this joint. It has real history behind it as the 2nd oldest cheesesteak joint in Philadelphia, the first in West Philadelphia period. "New Ownership" but literally all the best staff from the old ownership. The same cooks, the same genuinely nice and friendly people that worked here since I was a kid. Know your roots. This place will treat you right.

Total disappointment. On the plus side, there was a line and the woman was still able to acknowledge me quickly to ask if I had a pickup order. I appreciate that. The ambiance isn't much to remember. It's no place to dine in. Just a grab & go type of spot.

Couldn't wait to get my hands on some items from The Little Hot Dog Wagon. I noticed the logo in…read morethe food court a while ago, but wasn't sure when it would be opening. I stopped by today when I overheard a colleague mention that they were serving customers. It excited me even more when I saw vegan dogs and sausage on the menu! I got the Vegan Hot Dog combo which comes with fries, sauerkraut and a fountain drink. I subbed my waffle fries for sweet potato fries for an additional $1. For the whole meal, it was roughly $21 with tip and tax. Being in a mall food court, I wasn't expecting that hefty of a price. However, if we're being real, it was one of the most delicious hot dogs I've ever eaten. The roll was buttered and had some sweetness to it. Fries were super crispy and hot. I even had the employee making my food walk my tray over to the table I was seated at. She smiled and said, "I hope you enjoy it!". The staff were friendly and extraordinarily welcoming. I peeped the homemade vegan cookies and carrot cake (my fave) so I will be back to try those. This is not an everyday lunch spot but I'm looking forward to several visits when I feel like treating myself.

Now Yelp has added this business with no reviews to the right place so I cut and pasted my original review here. Hope it stays. So I was walking to the Reading Terminal Market (see my Review!) and cut through the Fashion District. Lo and behold, The Little Hot Dog Wagon was open! I've seen the sign up for a while and was anticipating the opening, which happened to be today. I wanted to try the place out, but today is a Friday in Lent and I don't do vegan meat which they offer. However, they had a "Wild Caught Salmon Burger" which definitely fit the bill for me. Being opening day, there were a lot of staffers making the orders and all were friendly if not a little discombobulated being the first day and the oil in the machine of running a restaurant was not fully smoothed out yet. But, even with the minor headaches of semi-long waits and orders delivered out of order everyone was excited to have a new opportunity within the food court. I ordered what turned out to be the most expensive item on the menu as it was the combo meal of the Wild Caught Salmon Burger. It came with waffle fries, sauerkraut, and a choice of water or soda. I was hoping to get the special pineapple lemonade but was unable to substitute and was not paying an additional $5 for it. Others were in large numbers, though. I got my meal to go, and once back to my office was prepared to see how good the food was. The waffle fries ended up being quite cold and bland. But, the Salmon Burger was outstanding! Huge pieces of salmon coupled with the lettuce, tomato, and mayo on a decent bun made my lunch so good. I was full and happy. Additionally, the sweet sauerkraut was excellent, too. They promote it as a special to them recipe and you can buy jars of it if you wish. I should have. I hope to see the long lines continue for this newest business and would like to try the hot dogs or fried chicken sandwich someday. A bit on the expensive side for lunch as a combo. $22.98 for the salmon burger, fries, kraut, and water. If I got the salmon burger alone it would be $13 before taxes, so $10 for fries and a water with kraut doesn't seem like a deal although it is about a $4 savings if priced à la cart if I had a soda. Best of luck to The Little Hot Dog Wagon!

Once you get to the window you order what you want and then you only pay for the drinks at 1st then they call your name so you can go to the pickup window and you pay for you food then. They don't have an inside dining area just a few tables outside. It was a rainy day so getting wet was inevitable. It wasn't a pour down so we could sit and enjoy the food. We ordered two Philly cheesesteak and one chicken cheesesteak. We were asked if we wanted "fried onions" and well it the same as grilled onions and not like an onion ring, just FYI. The chicken did not have much flavor but adding the peppers they give you it adds some and my mom enjoyed it. The cheesesteak was good too but also the steak was a bit flavorless. The sandwich is big and you need to ask to be cut in half, they just give it to you whole. It gets busy and they only accept cash. They do have an ATM machine on site if needed. Parking is on the street and not bathroom that I saw. This would be a place I come back but I'll bring some salt and pepper with me.
