A Google search brought me to this place only three short blocks from me in Center City and I couldn't be happier. The store is small on space, but huge in selection, with plenty of choices for any smoker to indulge in. The price for my cigars is a great value at just $9 a pack. So far, so good, right? Honestly though, the very thing that inspired me to review this place is not the great location, selection, or prices. In all of the times I've been in this store, the service has always been exceptional. From what I know, there are three guys who work at Smokin' Stogies, all very different from one another, but all equally friendly and helpful. I almost always look forward to going there, just to enjoy the pleasant conversations I have with any of the three of them. I'm always greeted warmly, and I always feel valued when I go in there. If only every store had such awesome service, this world would be a much better place! I don't know your names, but as you always say upon my exit, 'Appreciate you!"

Left and grabbed what I wanted across the block with zero hassle at all. Will not be returning again.

The owner must be good to employees if they've stuck around that long. Ask for Bill if you want to talk to someone knowledgeable in... everything. Karen is beyond awesome, too. Anyway, I live on the west coast now, where shops like these are everywhere. Wonderland will live on as my favourite head shop, though. Selection is great, vibe is chill and the staff loves being there. Sure, you can get a better deal for some things on the internet, but everyone knows there's nothing like picking out a piece of glass in person. It's worth paying a bit more for the experience. Social interaction is kind of nice when shopping for something as personal as smoking accessories. Downstairs is fun, too! Wonderland never fails to put me in a good mood after stopping by. You should try it.

This place really took me back to my freshman year in college when I smoked a lot of clove ciggies, wore long skirts and was totally into the Grateful Dead. In short, it was a little jaunt down memory lane. If you are into the partaking of natural substances, then this is a great place to visit for glassware. Oh wait, those are for tobacco smokers only. So, shall I say that if you are a tobacco smoker who prefers to smoke yours out of a glass pipe instead of a regular old cigarette, then this is the place for you. The guy behind the counter was super nice. The next time I need to buy someone a present or cloves, I'll go here for sure.

Avril 50 was a regular stop in my patrol days and I loved walking into the shop. Always the wonderful aroma of brewing coffees and chocolate dancing with other exotic smells and the smells of fine papers and magazines. It always felt to me like stepping from West Philadelphia into a magical pocket of Europe. As it looked exactly the same, I wondered if anything had changed in the past 22 years and as soon as I crossed the threshold, I found that it was the same - like stepping back 22 years, yet somehow I was that much older. The proprietor was still there, still the same and looking no different - something that confirmed my belief that this was a magical and wonderful pocket paradise tucked away on a small West Philadelphia street. A brief catch-up chat, a shopping bag of fine teas and a perfectly brewed double-espresso to takeaway later; I stepped back into the bright Fall sun of West Philadelphia. I found myself smiling as I sipped the espresso, happy that one of the best things for me in that neighborhood has remained unchanged for others to enjoy and to continue to discover. It will not be another 22 years before I make my way back - that is for certain.

I'm still not entirely sure what the shop is supposed to be but it was an experience going there for sure. The coffee is self serve and there are several different selections, each with a short description up on the wall. My boyfriend and I each got a medium (I believe it was $2.25 per) and loved our coffee. Both were tasty and exceptionally strong. I'm not sure if they do anything fancier (lattés, etc) but I doubt it. Nonetheless, if I were a student at penn and needed a coffee this is where I would go.
