Wonderful dental experiences just aren't stories you usually hear. But Dr. Lowe's office is…read morefantastic. The office itself is lovely and serene - starting with a water fountain and flower pictures in the lobby. The color scheme appears to be deliberately planned to be calming, there is pretty piano music playing quietly around you, and I was offered aromatherapy and light shields for my eyes to even further relax me. When getting the filling work done by Dr. Lowe herself, there was even a heated massage chair to relax in. The staff - from the front desk, to the hygienists, and Dr. Lowe herself - are all far more pleasant than any other dental office I've ever been to, and the front office folks have been so helpful when dealing with all of the silly paperwork for FSA and insurance and blah blah. I won't admit publicly how long I put off dental visits. I knew I needed some work (old fillings needing to be replaced, a new filling), but I knew the first thing would be the deep cleaning (root planing) that has to be done when you've put off dental care & cleaning for too long. It's time consuming, expensive (even with good insurance), and a bit painful after the numbing wears off. Dr. Lowe's office can't fix those bits of it - it still takes time, it still costs a lot, and it still hurt after the novocaine wore off - but damned if they didn't try to make it as pleasant as any dental work can be! I won't put off the dental care I need so long next time, now that I know it can be this much better!

I have tried a few in the area and none of them were right for me. I have anxiety issues and a gag reflex (which is made worse by the anxiety) and I've had everything from a dentist who walked out of the room because they thought it was "ridiculous" to the staff talking about me right outside the room and how awful it was to have me as a patient. I couldn't wait any longer because this year I started to have pain, sores and broken teeth. I read a lot of good things about GLD on my insurance's website and other places on the internet so I decided to give them a try. It was a life changing experience. The staff at GLD is awesome. Everyone from the receptionists to the dental assistants and the dentist/doctor himself are absolutely amazing. They treat me like an old friend every time I come in and they have been so caring and attentive to my anxiety and sensitivities that I don't feel any anxiety going in anymore for any type of appointment, cleaning or major dental work and even surgery. If you're looking for a dentist in the Mentor area that cares about its patients and really wants to make an impact on their lives make an appointment at Great Lakes Dental.

He is very personable, listened carefully to all my concerns and provided me great detail to ensure I was doing the right things moving forward to best take care of my teeth. All the hygienists who did the cleanings are amazing too, very friendly and professional staff all around.

After a short wait I was ushered into a very clean room and my procedure commenced. If I could coin a phrase to describe my experience it would be " gentle". I cannot believe I have nor posted previously on here (see prior review on Google) but Dr. Alyssa is amazing, Halle was my hygienist and is fantastic. Both of them teach you better teeth care, and after going to the dentist for over 30 years, I should not have to be learning new things about dental care, but I had never had a dentist teach me better tips and tricks. Marne works the front desk and is so sweet always helpful. The office is set up for text reminders which is great and you can reply, even better! About today's appointment, I was eager to get a crown on a tooth that was darkening and chipping, I had a root canal years prior and never crowned it, it was showing! So it was finally part one of the crown process. It is a long appointment, but they kept it super entertaining. And Bob Ross was on the TV!! Also its freezing in there, they got me a blanket!!!! I was actually starting to relax about this process. The time the doctor spent making sure my TEMPORARY Crown was perfectly blended was just seriously top notch, I don't think I'd ever imagined a doctor spending the time to do that for a crown I will have less than 3 weeks! She is so meticulous in the best way! I cannot say I love the picture I have attached, but I love that my previously dead tooth now blends in so well that it looks more real than a real (yet crooked) tooth does! I was already feeling so lucky, happy to pay whatever was due, and I paid the reasonable amount and asked what part 2 would cost in a few weeks. Marne made my night when she told me what I paid today covered part 2 as well! This has a very great dental visit!
