He lived and worked in the U.S. for several years, and he worked for U.S. companies before and after that. There is zero language barrier. He's on the money with all his facts, understanding of key landmarks, and even the factual events that made their way into various movies as anecdotes or scenes. I'd do a tour with Pierre at HQ Company Tours again in a heartbeat. And if you're wondering if it's worth it, DO THE TOUR. You can read all the books in the world, but you'll never really get it until you see the bunkers, and the 88 mm guns that raked the entire beach. The cemetery is a must for every American to see. Chloe was very knowledge and friendly, and left us a perfect amount of time at each stop to see the airborne museum, eat lunch, get our pictures and really just soak up each experience. Yet, both of us were highly impressed with Francois, answering our questions easily and providing insights and an understanding not only of the invasion, but of the local life and people who lived through it all. He is incredibly engaging, and we loved hearing how his family fared while half of their home was taken over by German soldiers. He interviews the remaining people that were alive at the time and is able to interject their experiences with his dialogue of the beaches, bunkers and cemeteries. We were constantly in awe of his expertise and ability to roll with the changes that occured unexpectedly with our time frame. When a train strike interfered with our ability to get to Mont St Michel he generously offered to drive us there and change our itinerary in order to see Mont St Michel on the second afternoon which was planned otherwise. The trip would have not been complete if not for his empathy and extra effort. His knowledge added to everything we saw and did and the price was surprisingly affordable and certainly well worth it! I am not a tour person but I cannot emphasize enough how much of a difference it made to our visit to have this man on our side.

Stayed at the Trumble chateau 3 nights with great food. Ben Trumble is a real student of D-day and WWII. We visited sites where he showed us pictures of GIs taken there on D-day. You can see the corresponding landmarks today and truly stand in the footsteps of heroes. Finally a visit to the cemetery where we saw the graves of several of the soldiers whose exploits we had been following. I can not imagine a better tour with anyone more knowledgable than Ben. Staying in the restored chateau with great modern accommodations and food just topped it off. 2014 will be the 70th anniversary of D-day and the last time any of the veterans will still be around for a 10-year anniversary. We booked at the last minute and lucked out that she was available AND willing to step out just for the four of us. She not only gave amazingly detailed information, she also was so warm and friendly that we felt like we'd found our long lost French cousin. Her knowledge base was vast and personalized to whatever we wanted to know. She suggested photo ops and even took the photos for us. She timed the cemetery visit for the playing of Taps. It was very emotional to start with and then, almost on cue, a French fighter plane flew over and tipped a wing. Sabrina laughingly said she arranged that just for us. But then explained whenever they are near, they tip their wing in thanks. Not a dry eye was found. This kind lady even sent an email with some of her prop photos and links to movies we had discussed.
