There is a section specifically for little, which they loved! The water table and the pet/vet section especially. In the "big kid" sections our 3 year old loved seeing all the fish and lizards, the little penny black hole and the vacuum tubes with the Pom-poms. Even the outdoor area was a blast! So many cute and clever ways for kids to learn and play. We had the hardest time getting him to leave. I ended up convincing him we could get a stuffy at their gift shop to take with us. Never thought I'd buy a stuffed white blood cell, but here we are! Again, super cool! Lastly, the staff was all so pleasant and nice, which is always extra appreciated in a kid-centered place.

I took my 88-year old father, who insisted on walking despite the offer of a wheelchair. There were a lot of cars to see, almost every one with its own informative placard. I seemed to gravitate to the higher-end Packards, plus the old runabouts with rumble seats! As you enter in the gift shop area, there is a map of New York State showing all of the towns that had auto manufacturers at one time...dozens of them, which was a surprise to me after living in southeast Michigan for decades. Norwich has turned a street near the center of town into a "museum mall" which is a nice upgrade. I may have to return one day to investigate further, including what may be an antique foreign car display someday.

I struggled with rating this museum because I am torn about my feelings towards it…read more On one hand, their specimens are absolutely jaw dropping if you're into fossils or geologic history. On the other hand, it's the size of a post stamp. It is a beautiful building and all the exhibits have impeccable designing, but don't expect this experience to take more than an hour at most. I stopped to read every single placard and it took me roughly forty five minutes to get through everything. I can see this place being understimulating for the average kid, but at least my kid loved it because he loves fossils and sea shells. I am very appreciative of the work they do here to keep history alive, I just wish there was a bit more to it.

I've been to quite a few university art galleries, and while I have no partiality to Cornell, this…read morewas an impressive one. The building itself is brutalist and didn't inspire a ton of confidence in what lies inside. I was also not thrilled at the limited parking; I found a university visitor center just up the road had parking. And the structure is rather odd in that there is a tower, but also an adjacent annex building that doesn't have much in it, but which you can (and I did) enter through, to a belowground space. The main tower houses a couple of floors of exhibitions, then a couple of floors of offices that aren't open to the public, then a higher level with exhibitions and views of the campus. The top level is apparently an event space that is not normally open for visitation. It is an interesting arrangement. The results were aesthetically impressive. The collection spanned global history, but my visit was also greeted by a photography series of a road trip spanning the East Coast. This resonated for me as a frequent traveler up and down this part of the country, and while my Yelp reviews and accompanying pictures probably don't have the artistic merit to find themselves in this museum, I saw plenty in common with my experiences. There was plenty else to ponder, however, and even on a rainy day, there was enough visibility to make ascending to the top floor well worth it. There is no charge to enter and you don't have to have any university affiliation either, which is true for most, but not all university galleries. This one is well worth the stop.

Admission is always free, but you do have to pay for parking on weekdays. The building itself is designed by IM Pei and is meant to let visitors experience art and also view the natural surroundings, as there's several floors from which you can get great views of Cayuga Lake and the Cornell University campus. While it doesn't compare to world class art museums, it's perfect for a college/university art museum with a diverse collection of paintings and ancient artifacts. The lobby is a wonderful gathering place with plenty of space to sit and open windows to admire the views. It's the perfect way to kill some time, so recommend a visit to art lovers visiting Cornell University or those needing a rainy day activity while visiting Ithaca.

This was awful. We booked on a whim because we were making the trip to go to the nearby aquarium…read more We should have known better when we had to go down an suspect alley and park behind a house. We had to wait outside the 'Abracadabra' door which was a horrible seating arrangement. It had standing, dirty water everywhere and everyone outside was getting eating alive by gnats and mosquitoes. The host finally came out but never said who she was or even her name. She must have been having an off day because she was not received well. It was awkward. The building itself was someone's home. The downstairs was the showroom and two beyond cluttered 'museum' rooms. The ceiling had severe water damage. The showroom smelled awful. There were gnats overwhelming the bathrooms. In the "prop room" the ceiling was cracked and in need of maintenance. Molding was falling off the walls. There was even garbage, plates and drinks left out from some kind of celebration. At it's prime I'm certain the collection and rooms looked prestigious but years later, no upkeep and cleaning just left it sad. The show started with the magician giving a blurb about herself starting with she was raised by an abusive alcoholic father. You could tell this was more about Dorothy than Houdini. The monologue was done via microphone that was tied around her neck and blared out of a speaker that had a loud, annoying feedback that no one tried to correct. This shifted into an old DVD that's displayed on blurry television. The audio/visual were terrible. At some point they forgot to update the equipment. For the price that you pay for admission, you would feel they would upgrade the devices. We learned about Houdini and the way Dorothy engaged with the audience was just weird and she would giggle when it got creepy, awkward. There also was an old man sitting in the back of the room, just staring at everyone and not talking. You'd think, the person would be introduced but we didn't learn about him until an hour later. The history was painful and it was almost a look but don't touch and listen to me dialogue. Dorothy told the kids not to jump off bridges but they could eat swords. She told another kid that he was going to be locked in a mill crate like Houdini. The cake topper was the child she yelled at for touching something. The child started wailing and rushed to hide behind her mother. A child sneezed in one room and she snarled they better not have given her Covid. I mean her, when there were other people in the room, but really - who says that! Let alone to a child. The long drawn out history finally gave way to another video displayed poorly to the audience while the magician got ready. Before starting the video she asked if any one knew how Houdini died and she said the creepy old man in the back did. He stood up and just shrieked loudly for 20 seconds. Dorothy, creepy guy and another associate found this hilarious. The audience was confused. The video displayed the magician doing escape artist tricks and the jinx bullet trick. Very different from the basic magic that was about to happen. None the less performed to very loud 70's instrumental music. It almost felt like being at a child's birthday. Except we did the same trick over and over. We changed gears but it was basic. The magic was fun but the slight of hand was so obvious it took away the magic. It seemed like the touch was gone. I wouldn't recommend.
