Coming from a rainy day we decided that some pho would be nice.
Service was great and we were quickly seated. The waiter and waitress were eager and pleasant when it was time to order.
We ordered 2 pho specials (comes with meatball, literally just the one, beef and tendon, but no tripe. Waitress didn't know what tripe was either) small, one viet coffee ( I said cafe sua da and the waitress didn't know what I was talking about ) and bottled water. We have a spot we frequent back in the States for pho, so this wasn't our first time. I waited patiently for the bean sprout plate they normally hand out before you get your pho but then I noticed written on their wall that they include everything for you in your pho. uhmm ok. So we got our order and the first thing I normally do is take a sip of the broth. Yeah it's not authentic pho for sure. I guess maybe it' their own twist but a Filipino version? Idk, but nothing compares to the broth at Pho Bang in Garland,Texas, so we're pretty spoiled when it comes to pho. The meatball wasn't made like the Viet places we frequent back home, and the taste was also lacking. It was nice that they added the basic cilantro to their pho as I believe cilantro in general is hard to find in dishes here in the Philippines. I like alot of bean sprouts in my pho and I like to add the mint leaves in as well. We didn't have that choice. The viet coffee was ok, I requested extra condense milk.
Overall the service was great, no complaints at all. The food.. well it was meh, I would have liked some authentic flavored viet pho and wheres the tripe? If we come back maybe we'll try their bahn mi and see how that works out.
Tip: They have no restroom in their restaurant nor a sink to wash your hands. Instead, they were nice enough to hand me some purel. They also accept credit cards. read more
