I had a 5 metre external blind installed in 2017 - it has worked very well until now when it became…read moredislodged from one end - I contacted Empire and was quoted $150.00 to have it re installed. I advised them to bring chem fixings as the wall plugs previously used were obviously insufficient for the task. I was advised any additional parts if required would be extra. They then insisted I pay in advance- when I asked why they said they had problem collecting payment from clients. While not happy I thought the $150 was a fair price so I paid. The following week one tradesman arrived -had no idea what the task was- after investigation he agreed a chem fixing was required - I offered him one as I had some in my garage but he said he would prefer to get his own. He then left and did not return. After a week I called Empire to see what was happening and they then advise the price would now be $650.00 for the job. A competent installer with an off- sider could do this job in 30 minutes (at the most) My advice is to NOT engage this Company under any circumstance. Barry H

We engaged…read moreEmpire Window Furnishings in August last year to quote for shutters in our loungeroom and blinds in our office. Based on their attractive quote we signed the contract and paid a 50% deposit. On the first visit the installer told us that there was extra work - and we now had to pay substantially more. We had reservations, but we understood his explanation - and we had already paid the deposit. So we agreed to the extra work and paid in full in September 2023. BAD MISTAKE. Radio silence. After some reminders and prompts (this company seems to be staffed with people who have no memory and keep no notes on ANYTHING!) the installer finally arrived in February 2024. Sadly he only arrived with the shutters and not the office blinds. He installed the shutters so that we could not open any windows, leaving us to swelter in a stuffy house! Despite repeated requests this is still not fixed 4 months later - appointments were booked but no one turned up! The missing blinds seemed to be a bit of a mystery and it took some more harassment to for EWF to actually locate the office blinds. Finally in March they arrived, only to find that they were missing a piece and could not be installed. To date they are STILL sitting in my office taking up a huge amount of space. All the office equipment is STILL residing in our hallway. After more attempts to resolve the issue we went to Fair Trade NSW who intervened on our behalf. Of course we got an apologetic email and MORE promises to fix it immediately. Sadly they seemed to have no record of our problems and needed a new person to visit and check the problems. So I cancel my work yet again to be at home the day the staff are meant to arrive (I have my own business so this means I lose pay). No one turns up. We try - once again to speak to a manager or director but as usual they are 'away' or 'sick'. Truthfully we have given up hope of ever being able to use our home office or even open our windows. We are now faced with having to take legal action if we want to get our money back! I strongly recommend that no one ever uses this company. If we could give them a negative star rating we certainly would. This company has shown no care or diligence and, based on our experience, I cannot understand how they could ever get a legitimate good review.

I work in a clothing store and always recommend that my customers head to Spotlight for supplies if they plan on taking up a hem or changing some buttons around. Their home décor section is probably the best part. There are some bargain rugs.

If one is feeling courageous enough to visit in person it is only to find that the staff members are not the slightest bit interested in your enquiries - and that is only if you can find a staff member to ask!! Poorly stocked and tacky !! I visit the North West Coast of Tasmania at least twice a year and the Spotlight store in Burnie is always visited once or twice during my stay and it is the flip side of the Birkenhead store and where they should be sending all its employees for training!!!
