I recently used PGS plumbing to fit a shower pump whilst my usual plumber was away on holiday. We were replacing a faulty shower with the exact same model, so all fixtures and fittings were in place, though rather than fit it ourselves we wanted some comfort that it had been done by a professional.
It began well- I enquired online and was contacted shortly afterwards by a pleasant gentleman who confirmed than an engineer should be able to fit the pump the following morning at 8am. Given that I required a simple 30 minute job, PGS seemed expensive, but for peace of mind and a conveniently timed appointment the following day I conceded. I received another call the same evening confirming that the engineer had been booked and would be with me for 8am.
At 8.15 the following morning, with no engineer in sight, an important 9am meeting to get to, and not having received any contact, I called PGS who contacted me shortly afterwards to say that the engineer was on his way and would be with me before 9am. I duly shifted my important meeting to 10am, and waited.
The engineer eventually turned up at 10.15. I had received a couple of calls from him in the proceeding hour, neither were apologetic and I got the impression that he really didn't care. By this point I REALLY needed to get to the office and made the engineer aware of this. Within five minutes of entering my home, he was on the phone to a colleague talking about another job and not addressing the one at hand.
At 10:45, having pushed back two meetings and running late for another meeting, the engineer finished and began completing a form during which he asked basic details (such as my name and contact number), which delayed my departure to the office further and I felt really should have been completed in advance. He even had the audacity to note 10am as his arrival time on the form (despite asking me and me confirming it was 10.15!) After leaving, locking the front door and almost getting on my way the engineer realised that he had left his keys behind, delaying me further.
Overall, I was incredibly disappointed with the service offered by PGS, particularly considering that they were far more costly than a local plumber (a cost that I thought would be more than made up for by the service- how wrong I was).
It didn't end there, upon my return home I discovered that the newly installed shower pump had been leaking all day, soaking my floor. Additionally the engineer had left the plug casing loose against the wall. I duly contacted PGS who took a few details, had the audacity to ask whether I was aware of their call out charges, and told me they would pass a message on to their 'despatch team'. Bearing in mind that I had just contacted them to say that a job completed by their engineer in the morning has caused water to leak all over the floor, and that it was continuing to leak, I expected a little more than that. 45 minutes later and having not received a call back, I contacted again, only to be told another message would be passed on. Tired and frustrated I gave up and managed to stop the leak myself.
I finally received a call back this morning, by which point it was a little late, although the member of staff who made the call was at least slightly more sympathetic than the individuals I had spoken to the previous day.
I would not recommend PGS plumbing to anyone. read more
