With the exception of the red-haired lady, the rest of the staff--particularly the men--act like they despise being there. The website is completely unreliable for bookings, so I'm forced to call. Every single time, I'm told they "can't book over the phone," even though they absolutely can. After just two months, I'm seriously considering canceling my membership. That should tell you how bad it is. I genuinely enjoy the course itself, but walking into the clubhouse fills me with anxiety. The staff make you feel small, stupid, and unwelcome. They ooze contempt simply for you daring to be a paying customer. No smiles. No eye contact. No thank you for your business. Nothing. I can tolerate overbookings. I can tolerate running out of carts on a regular basis. What I cannot tolerate is dealing with people who clearly couldn't care less about the guest experience. It's heartbreaking to watch how much potential business the upstairs bar is losing because the guys downstairs treat basic customer service like it's beneath them. The worst part? This is an incredibly simple fix. A smile, basic eye contact, and minimal human decency would go a very long way. Right now, it feels like the staff is actively working against the enjoyment of the course, not for it

I am a beginner and I feel very lucky to have Ben as my instructor. I found him through Yelp and…read morelooked up his profile on PGA's website. It turns out that Ben is the only PGA instructor in Sunland. Ben is always patient and he explains each step clearly. He has his own teaching method, and a way of assessment. He is very experienced and knows what he is doing. When I was practicing putting one day, he asked me to putt in a direction that looked ridiculous to me. But he is the pro, what can I say?? So I followed his instruction and did exactly what he asked me to do, the ball went in! I recommend 30-minute lessons, because one-hour lessons will make me feel tired and hard to concentrate.

Being the stereotypical Korean, I decided to pick up golf last year and I tried a couple of…read moredifferent instructors before I found Ben, and here's how he is different: 1. He incorporates the mental approach of golf into his lessons, rather than just pointing out how to change my swing. What I mean is that he gets you to be in the right mindset before hitting the ball, which has helped me a lot on the times I would get frustrated. 2. He's all about teaching a natural, fluid swing and not trying force it, rather than trying to kill the ball like I tend to do. This actually helps with not just accuracy but also distance. 3. He teaches useful drills to help your swing, that you can practice both at home or at the range. 4. The way he teaches is very simple and easy to understand. You only think about 1 or 2 things as you try your swing, instead of the list of 10 different things that just overwhelms most beginners. 5. He's really laid back, which I think helped me take in everything he was saying. Sometimes I don't know how he keeps his patience with me when I make the same mistakes over and over. 6. I was CONVINCED that I was pushing some of my shots because I need to adjust my clubs. He could have easily charged me a ton of money to make adjustments and get new shafts, but instead he looked at my swing and showed me that it was the carpenter, not the tools. I'm grateful that he taught me the root of the problem, rather than trying to accommodate for a flawed swing. 7. I frequently email him about different problems I run across during a round (how to hit on an uneven lie, etc) and he's always willing to give really helpful advice. Not many instructors would go out of their way to do that. 8. Grass range! So much better than hitting off mats. Personal story: Before meeting Ben, I knew I was casting the club but previous instructors had all told me it was because I wasn't whipping my hands/wrist fast enough, which really introduced a lot more errors and inconsistency when I tried that. When Ben explained it to me, I didn't really get it at first until I kept practicing the drill he taught me and then a few days later, it made complete sense. Now I understand how to release the club properly and effortlessly every time and that alone was worth the lesson! I can't recommend Ben enough. If you're having trouble with your swing or need club adjustments, you should definitely check him out!

Played here for the first time and it was a pleasant surprise! I didn't expect much from this place…read moreconsidering I've driven past here for so many years. But the course design is so different from other courses with its assortment of terrain & slopes. The fairways & greens could be better yet still decent & playable. We started at 3PM on a Saturday and got paired with a nice Korean couple. Pace of play was good. Unfortunately due to our late start we had to quit after the 12th whole since it became dark & hard to see our ball. We past some who were still playing with their luminous balls. Definitely will return to play again the whole 18 holes.

I truly enjoy this golf course. It's local for me, so that's a plus. But even if it weren't I'd…read moredrive a bit to play it regularly. It's a full-length course (par 72 or 73), with beautiful, wide fairways, and plenty of nice long par 4 and 5 holes to let those drivers and fairway woods sing. There's no water hazards, but there are still some things to watch out for (more on that in a moment). The fairways are in pretty decent shape, the greens are VERY nice, and large, and the rest of the course (carts, cart paths, trees, and conditions of the course overall) is very nice for the price. And that's really the best part, because you can get on this course with cart rental during the week for like $34/person, which is almost unheard of anymore. A couple of minor drawbacks to be aware of. First, the fairways do have a ground squirrel infestation problem. There are holes, some of them pretty darned big, and if your ball goes in, it's gone. I think the little b***ards steal balls too, if I'm being honest, so keep a sharp eye out. Also, despite having a full restaurant and grill with indoor seating, etc., they don't operate it. You'll have drinks from the cooler, including beers, and a few snacks. The pro shop has some stuff (balls, tees, some shirts and hats, etc., but not an extensive selection). Also, they won't let you check in until 20 minutes prior to your tee time. Other than that, it's a great place to play, pretty easy to get a tee time as long as you schedule early (no more than 1 week out), or to go and use their excellent driving range.

Reading the reviews with time and waiting we didn't have to deal wait that as the first group out…read more For the money you kinda expect a better experience and a bit of a nicer pro shop, food, etc. No direction was given it was check in and see you later. The course is very challenging, narrow, long, and unforgiving out of bounds. The greens were in good shape and very fast. To be honest with a decent amount of good rain you would think the course would be dialed, but to be honest it was kind of rough. Tons on divot marks that never grew back, patchy approach areas, and just ok tee boxes. As with many other posters for the same price go to Moorpark or Rustic.

I played here yesterday, and I just had to come back here to Yelp to set the record straight,…read morebecause the current 2.5 star rating just doesn't feel like a fair representation of what this course truly has to offer. I've never played here before, but GolfNow was offering a nice discount, so I decided to take a chance on it despite the poor reviews and low star rating, and I was pleasantly surprised by how far it exceeded my very low expectations. Here's what you can expect if you decide to play here: Pre-Round: - Quality warm-up/practice areas. At the range you're hitting decent quality balls, off real grass (not mats) out into a lush grassy range with nicely visible yardage targets. - Putting practice is on a tight, fast green that's well maintained. Only critique here was there weren't many holes to aim to... I counted maybe 4-5 total, which is not much. - Clubhouse was a lovely Spanish style building, with clean bathrooms, nice pro shop with friendly staff, and a cafe/food window set next to a nice outdoor patio eating area. The Golf: - Walking is not permitted (for pacing reasons, I assume) but the electric golf carts are HIGH-QUALITY, not beat up, cheap public course shame trains. They each have full color screens with GPS enabled course maps, providing you with hole layouts and yardages. They are stocked with complimentary bottled water, towels, and tees. Before you even swing a club, this feels like a premium experience. - The course conditions were beautiful. They're not perfect... you're not playing Augusta National here, but it was well above average for a public course. Tee boxes were level, green, weed free and well maintained. If you're used to playing public courses where you have to dance a two-step around the tee box for 2 minutes trying to find a level spot to hit from, you'll feel spoiled by the beautiful tee boxes. -Fairways are tight, a bit hard (you're in desert terrain) and very green. Didn't see a lot of dead grass out there, but then again it did rain recently. -The first cut rough is pretty well maintained, with some weeds around the edges, but for the most part very playable. -Bunkers has a few large rocks in them here and there, but were pretty fluffy and soft for the most part. One bunker I landed in was so soft, my ball plugged into the sand a good inch or two. -The course design is really interesting and unique, and WILL BE A CHALLENGE for most weekend golfers. You need to be accurate off the tees and have a decent approach game. If not, bring a lot of balls because the desert OB areas are cruel and will mercilessly collect your entire last order of golf balls off Amazon. - The pace of play was actually great. We never felt rushed and never felt like we waited more than a few minutes for the group ahead to finish. We played on Sunday, teeing off just before noon, so you'd expect it to be busy, but it was pleasantly un-crowded. -I appreciated the little details that this course has paid attention to, like areas around the tee boxes and beside cart paths that often have beautiful hard-scape features, like rocks or pavers, which is a classy touch. Other on-course amenities: - Ball washers were regularly placed throughout the course - At least one set of bathrooms was out on the course (thank you very much). - Beverage carts came around at least twice to check on us and offer us food during the round... another premium that you don't get on cheap public courses. One STRANGE experience: We finished our round around 4:30PM and when we rolled in toward the clubhouse, the place was an absolute ghost town. Not a soul was in sight. Pro shops was dark, locked up and closed. Food service window was closed, security cage pulled over the window. There were no human beings anywhere when I pulled my cart up to the cart return--- just felt odd that nobody was around. Other than that, Angeles National served up a great day of quality golf with premium amenities. It's not cheap, but it's also not as expensive as you might expect for a high quality course. With our GolfNow "HotDeal" it was around $120 and I consider it a steal at that price. If that price tag is a stretch, then reward yourself with a round here once in a while and enjoy the incredible mountain views, picturesque desert, and course conditions that far exceed expectations of a public course.

Experience: Amenities:…read more Service: My nieces (4 yo and 8 months) were visiting for break and we were looking for some local expository things to do with them. My older loves animals, insects, and other non-human creatures so this place seemed perfect. We had been many years ago with our littles and they distinctly remember a giraffe so we figured their cousins would enjoy the experience too. We arrived at around 11 am on a Monday morning and found parking relatively easy- I think we were one of two families there which made it easy. There is a very small parking lot just outside the entrance and street parking. We entered through a really fun gift shop and made our way in. They have many exhibits of foxes, monkeys, birds, reptiles, and other small-to-medium sized animals to learn about. Each exhibit provided a learning display. We made our way through the "center" in just under two hours- really taking out time at each exhibit. Wr only noticed a couple of other families with littles as well, making it super easy to move through. While we say snakes foxes parrots and more, we don't see the giraffe . We did learn while we were there though that the giraffe was just visiting as it was being trained by the nextdoor business for television!!! Apparently that's a thing. Love L.A.! Ideal place for little kids! They have space for private parties, benches to enjoy a packed lunch (byobag situation), and a theater-education space where I believe they have events/activities, although we didn't see any. Pro-tip: sister purchase tickets on Groupon and saved money

It was also nice to hear of the center's efforts to help animals that had been in poor conditions due to wildlife trafficking. All of the staff members we encountered were friendly, knowledgeable, and seemed to enjoy their work with the wildlife. For around $16 a ticket, I will definitely be back and maybe looking into doing an individual animal experience!
