This groomer took my gorgeous Newfoundland, the sweetest marshmallow bear you'll ever meet, and delivered a shivering, asymmetrical abomination. Asked for a blended trim, got tiger stripes down both flanks, and half his coat is gone-like they borrowed a riding mower from a golf course. The tail? Now looks like a sad, deflated dandelion. Guy couldn't even hold eye contact when I came to pick him up, probably knows he botched it. Save your dignity, your dog's coat, and your sanity-go anywhere else. Today I shopped for cat food and found 2 bags at close-out price. I purchased both, but I checked my receipt before leaving. Both bags were charged at full price. Upon return, the sales clerk said they were both misplaced--probably by another shopper. I went to the stacks and took a picture. I showed her and she still insisted neither were on sale. I spoke with the manager. He looked at the picture and agreed with her. I asked if he would go with me to check the codes. Nope! I returned both bags and saved $81.11. This is not the first time I have been charged the full price for a sales item, but this is the first time the manager would not go with me to check the price. Be sure to check your receipt at this store. I will not return to this store. read more

Just went to the first cashier asst (had to wait until she was ready to speak) and asked if the store had Acana dog food. She thought for 2 seconds, and said "no I don't think we carry that". She did not bother to look, check their system or possibly find out if they could order any. As I stood there, and no one was in line, she seemed done with me. I said "I guess I can go to PetCo to see if they carry the food". Her response "I think that's probably best", wrinkled her nose and stepped away. Again, no one else was in line. Wow. I won't bother Pet Smart with my business anymore. Terrible and poor customer service. I guess she is irritated she has to work there and actually help customers and make a sale. Corporate should do a better job of vetting and training their employees. You've lost this customer for food, and I'm sure there will be more not coming back. I'd give 0 Stars but can't. read more

Took both my dogs in this past week and both came back with no nail trimming done, and my little one had only gotten a bath and brushed (no trimming or anything else). Spent over $100 total for both of them for basically just a bath and brushing. I understand it's petsmart grooming but I will be going to a legit grooming service after this experience instead of them. If you're gonna spend money on grooming may as well make sure they get fully groomed with everything they say they're going to do. read more

I am not sure how PetSmart works as a company in general, but here is my story from PetSmart in North Spokane. I needed a companion for my female Siamese since her brother had passed away at a young age. I found that this Petsmart had a Siamese available, so I went to visit him. When I arrived, I visited the area they keep the cats and was just astonished at the caging for these animals. They could not move around to stretch their legs from what I witnessed and the animal I wanted was locked in this cage for a long time. I felt so bad for him and adopted him as fast as possible to rescue him from this small space. This Siamese was visually depressed, but I pressed on and swore I would make his life better. PetSmart is required to do testing on their animals, but they must of forgot this one. I got him home and noticed he wasn't very active and he ate and drank water more than a human does, but I pressed on. He improved to a point and seemed much happier, but there was something wrong. I checked his history and found the original owner by checking vets in the area he lived and I did locate the one for him. The owner declawed this poor guy. I checked his records and found that he had complications after the operation. Infection set in and also they had to do more pulling out of his front claws. This act of declawing a cat is total destruction to a cat and this should be outlawed. They virtually pull the claws out of the animals in hopes it removes the complete claw growing. This poor guy had been tortured by this operation. His feet were still sensitive after over a year. Anyway, he did good for a while, but he never could get enough food or water. I thought this was strange and took him to our family vet. The diagnosis was diabetes and he couldn't absorb nutrients from his food. PetSmart dropped the ball on this poor guy. I had to have him put down because his case was severe and end his misery. I stayed with him the whole time and comforted him as he passed on. This was a sad story for us and this poor animal's life. Shame on the owner for declawing him and the vet who performed this inhumane act on an animal. Also, shame on PetSmart for not running proper tests on their adopting animals. The cat's final time in life was happy with us, but he was still young at 6 years old when he was put down. Please be sure you take any adopted animals to your vet for full testing and don't believe what you hear from the service you adopt an animal from. It can be a very painful time to put a pet down, but I know we did what we could to make this animal's life better than he had. Bless this young man's heart. He was the sweetest thing you could imagine and we are so happy he was part of our life and his feline companion. read more

I have been taking my dogs there for a few years but the last few times have not been a great experience. I admit that I am a bit fussy about their cuts, but I don't think my expectations are un-achievable. One of my boys has (had) really long eyelashes and no matter how many times I ask and no matter how many times they take notes- they always get cut. This time he was there for 4 hours and had only gotten a bath- they called and said they were running behind. When I picked him up he had a nick on his belly. I know accidents happen- but the whole experience was enough- we won't go back. They need to stay on time or don't book so close- it often takes 5 hours to get them back. That is way too long. Lately the salon floor is covered in clipped dog hair- it doesn't feel clean. Not sure if it is a management issue, short staffed or what- I just know it is time for me to part ways with this salon. read more

I had THE BEST Customer service experience with Emily at the Spokane Valley on Broadway store! I had an order that I had my friend pick up for me, but he did not pick up the full order. I called and spoke to Emily, explained what had happened and asked if she could just credit my card, since we live in Coeur d Alene and wouldn't be getting back over there for a while. Emily said that she also lived in CDA and would be happy to drop it off the next day. WHAT?! You would do that? She said oh yes, I can absolutely do that!! I am floored by her willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty! Sure enough, there she was at my front door with the rest of my order - in the middle of a snow storm no less. Checked the website to make sure they would have a groomer there to do our dogs nails. It said they were there until 7. We got there at 20 minutes to six and the grooming area was closed. The sign on the door for the grooming says they close at 6. Upon finding someone that seemed like a manager (not sure at this point) I was told that they had gone home and that if they weren't busy they would leave up to half an hour early. When I pointed out that the website said they would be there til 7 all I got was "I'm sorry but they will be here early in the morning. " Apparently the fact that some of us work at a real job and aren't available to come in on Monday morning didn't even seem to register. Lazy staff and bad management at this store. Life savers!! My poor pups got the fleas and I did not have a tub to bathe them, called the grooming department and they were able to get them in that day to be treated while I treated the house. They were incredibly friendly and took such care of my boys. My pups had never been groomed and were very nervous when we arrived. This review is for grooming. The store in fine and clean. I am so disappointed with the groomer at Petsmart. 1. They screwed up the cut for my breed in general 2. They wrote the wrong instruction, scribbled it over, and the girl STILL did the wrong thing. Then she called me telling me she messed up 3. After they messed up, they must have just stopped grooming him. They did not do the hygiene cut, which was the WHOLE purpose of taking him in. 4. I told them he had mats, and to please just shave them off. When I came to pick him up, after they screwed up his cut, they had the audacity to inform me that he had mats and try to chastise me like I was a bad pet owner. Well no joke he has mats. I freaking told you people. He was being watched by my parents who did not brush him properly behind his ears and he got mats while I was out of town. That's why I asked you to cut them off. Don't make some smug comment about how, perhaps, I should have left them a comb. It's my freaking parents and I was lucky to have them watch him for me while I was out of town. I obviously care about his care because I brought him in immediately when I got back into town to get the mats removed. Maybe if you're so concerned about his health you should have given him the proper hygienic shave like I ASKED. A bunch of careless morons. I will never go back. read more

Pros: Decent selection of fish. Aesthetically decent Cons: The fish are all unhealthy looking and need to be quarantined before introducing them to other fish at home. Staff are not very knowledgeable about the animals and the informational pamphlets are printed templates that say the same thing everytime. Be careful about what you want to buy. read more

Twice I have gone into the fish dept and been ignored by the female employee. Today I stood there for about 10 minutes while she was feeding fish, tank to tank, refilled her tube and continued. At what point do they turn and ask " can I help you?" Not my job to ask for help while she is right there. On a previous visit basically the same thing, me standing there and her walking away. On that othetoccasion I went to the checkout and asked for help, same female returned. Never had a problem with other employees. Went here to check out some fish and many of the tanks had several dead or dying fish, especially feeders and Cichlids. I would never buy fish here. Petco has much cleaner tanks and fish are healthier and less expensive. I would gladly pay more though for healthy fish. Next time I will try a smaller pet store in hopes of finding a better selection. read more

Took my Shih-tzu/yorkie/maltese mix to be groomed at Petsmart for the first time today. I recently found out that the groomer I was using previously let the dog's drip dry in an air conditioned room. I decided to try PetSmart as they are a large and reputable company. SO disappointed. I specifically told them that my 1 year old pup is a mutt, and I like the "mutt" look on him. Asked them shave his underbelly, clean up his eye area, shorten his ear fur, and just a slight trim everywhere else. I also made VERY sure they were aware of a growth on his lower lip that is scheduled to be removed in a couple of weeks. I asked them to stay away from his lip area all together. 3 hours later, I received the call that my dog, Gizmo, was ready. I was shocked to see that they had given him a full shih-tzu cut, even though I had specifically told them NOT to do that. They had not trimmed his ears as asked, and the rest of his body had been cut to only about an inch! I was disappointed and let the gal in grooming, as well as the cashier know. I was not overly worked up, after all, it's fur, it will grow. Lesson learned. However, when I got home I saw that they had clipped the growth on his lip and that it was bloody. Nobody had informed me that this had happened. Now I was worked up. I called corporate customer service and let them know. They are passing it on to their "management group". We'll see if I hear anything, and if so, what it will be. I usually believe in second chances, but injuring my dog and not telling me is WAY out of line. Would not recommend using PetSmart for grooming. read more

Review for the Pet Grooming ! I did not realize that they had an express service for grooming, yeah ! that is nice for older dogs who have high anxiety and do not do well under stress. The only thing is the express service is just early in the morning, but that worked with our schedule. I have a Pomeranian and he has a very mature coat, he was done in 1 hour and 30 minutes and after working with Bonnie he turned out wonderful. She was very detailed about the cut I wanted and made sure she understood exactly what I was looking for. I will definitely be taking our pooch there again. Very pleased customer ! read more

I have gone to this Petsmart for everything for my dogs. Training, food, dog toys and grooming. I have had a great experience every time I go in. The employees recognize me and know my dogs, especially my lab and they have always been very kind and very helpful. I do suggest taking the time to get a pet perks card if you go a lot! read more

I went to this to PetSmart because you can get in pretty quickly for grooming, but now I know why. first I noticed they do not work as a team, every one there was judging what the other one was doing. then I directly asked the groomer to leave my Standard poodle with a long pome on her tail, I got back and she had a very short pome her reasoning was the computer said I wanted a short one. well that wasn't this time so why didn't she listen when I told her. then worst of all the following day my dog is shaking her head and can't stop, I looked in her ear and saw large red welts, luckily I had antibiotic cream on hand. This is about the Grooming Salon. I don't think they are properly trained to handle difficult clients. My dog does not like having her paws touched. I had a wonderful and patient groomer in the Midwest and recently moved here. I told them about her history and they said no problem. I specifically asked for a nail trim and they talked me into a full bath (that I can do at home) for only a few dollars more (which was more like $60+ more because they charged extra for being difficult to handle). I asked that they do the nail trim first and if they can't handle her, don't do the bath. I came by a few hours later and watched from outside as 3 people worked with her to trim her nails. She was so agitated she almost choked herself by jumping off the table... with 3 people around her. I went in and asked what was going on. They had already given her a bath and said they were only able to clip one paw, which was bleeding. They charged me full price even though I specifically told them not to proceed without the nail trim. A manager finally gave me a small discount. And the icing on the cake, she didn't get a cute little scarf that was included in the price. Never again. read more

I have always taken Chewy to the pets mart in the valley ,the groomers do just a fantastic job! I made the mistake last time ,when the groomer asked if I wanted the same cut as Chewy received last time ....? I said yes ! not thinking about what the weather was then & going to be...ooops .
